Great video. We gotta boycott anything with Glen Powell tho. One of the worst actors ever
Maybe, next time, go for a better review. 🤷🏼
This review is terrible.
Within the storm chasing community, Tyler's channel with 1 million subscribers, would be one of the biggest.
That would make him a CZcams celebrity within that community.
If only they made a channel to go with it, lol

Helen Hunt should have played Kate’s mom. The daughter she would have had with Bill Paxtons character 😊
Yes, obvious miss there!!!
Yes!!! It would've made so much sense! It would've explained why they had Dorothy in the beginning and why Kate has Billy's "Tornado whisperer" ability
1000 % that is what I was hoping 😊
I was hoping this would happen, Helen Hunt said she was down to come back as well!!!
It would explain why she had that feel for when a tornado was going to pop up like Bill. RIP
The stretches of fun followed by boring in twister are perfect representations of storm chasing though.
Exactly and expands the story they can’t do effectively if it’s a twister scene every scene lol
Wrong. It's boredom then fun. Chasers spend 99% of the time driving. Followed by waiting and hoping you'll see a tornado. We also miss 70% of our targets

Surprise you didnt mention Ben, the British reporter. He subtly had a great character arc.
Seriously, he was in a way like Melissa in the original (someone who knew nothing about tornadoes just along for the ride).
I thought he was a great character, went from an awkward guy who got upset about his new trousers getting dirty. To the guy who tossed his camera aside to go and help the folks in danger in El Reno.
@@PrenticeJones-fh2ewgood catch. Totally forgot to put that one on my list of similarities of the two movies.
I think this movie is somewhat of a reboot to the original.
The original is a classic, however what I absolutely loved about this one is you can tell they had input from actual storm chasers. The way they died at the beginning somewhat based on the storm chasers that died in El Reno, how Tyler is based on Reid Timmer, and the movie theater not just being a Refrence to the first but being a Refrence to the actual El Reno tornado. I gasped out loud in the theater when it showed the El Reno water tower, I thought that was so cool.
What happened in El Reno?
@@manunited1235 2013 El Reno tornado
@@JoyFPS do tornadoes move as fast as they do in this movie? I wonder how realistic the tornadoes were in this movie.
@@manunited1235 I have no clue man, idk much about tornadoes
@@manunited1235 “In Twister, tornadoes are shown moving at speeds that are much faster than most real-life tornadoes. In the film, tornadoes are depicted traveling at speeds of up to 70 mph or more. However, in reality, tornadoes typically move at speeds ranging from 20 to 40 mph. Some tornadoes can move faster, but speeds as high as those shown in the movie are rare and would be considered extreme. The film exaggerates tornado movement for dramatic effect.” Hope this helps 😄
No tornado movie will ever top “twister”. It’s too much of a classic. Twisters was a great tornado movie but to me the original twister was something more than just chasing tornadoes. It’s hard to beat the comedy that Phillip Seymour Hoffman brought and hard to beat the passion that Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt brought to that movie.
💯💯
Yep, RIP Phil and Bill! ❤
This. And the film score. I loved the film score and that creepy, almost jaws-like ominous sound effect that would play when the mo ster tornado was creeping closer.
I just watch this movie yesterday, and i saw some references to the original one:
When the girl 5 years later comes back, she said: Im not back... that word is the same that Bill says the same!!!
also in other scene when a chicken drops in the hood of the car, in the original one was a cow,
and the beggining of the film, there is a Dorothy V, in the original one only was 4....
Also the truck names are Tin Man, Lion, and Scarecrow.
Bill Paxton's son also has a cameo as the millennial at the motel complaining about the lack of wi-fi. Such Nice touch.
There's also a lot of people in the crowd at the rodeo who either worked on the original or were extras in the original.
Lots of decent, subtle nodds
i called that i said thats exactly what he said
They destroy a 70’s model Jeep truck, the yellow crop dusted that flies buy Bills truck in the first one is being repaired in the new one, red Ram truck as the hero truck, two rival storm chasing folks (the corporate ones and the freelance) red Ram hero truck drives into tornado and saves the day in both, a movie theater is destroyed in both, the two leads survive a tornado holding onto water pipes, and a whole lot more.
Watched the original on 4k yesterday. Just got out of the theater after seeing "twisters". The original is 100 times better. Even the special effects on the new one were not very good. I went into this movie expecting it to be unrealistic which is fine. But I was honestly bored while watching it.
I found Twisters to drag for awhile for the first hour, I had zero attachment to any of the characters, it picked up towards the end and got better but the original is better by a mile. They made the Tornados sound and feel more like this majestic spirit that was coming after you in the original like in Final Destination. In this one, they made it seem more like a roller coaster ride everyone wanted to wait in line to ride . The connection between Paxton’s and Hunts characters were written better and Hoffman’s Dusty was an instant hit. Twisters was good but not as good as the original
I agree. Twisters is still a pretty good movie. Maybe 8 out of 10 for me, but the first one, it just has some magic. This one didn't
People can say what they want. I don't want to draw lines and say this or that. I enjoyed the first movie. I enjoyed the second movie. They're both fantastic and enjoyable. Both are fun movies not meant to be taken too seriously. They're both amazing. IMO, the first one also had a slump in trying to introduce the characters, but once they both get rolling, they're both great.
Food! Food! FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@ericirwin413I agree. The original is more quotable. Therefore it wins.
@@devwil_ And better soundtrack
The one area that new movie simply cannot compete with, and that was a huge component of what made the original have such a visceral draw, was the musical score. The music gave such an intense of awe, wonder, danger and excitement, each when relevant, to the wonder of nature that is the tornado. Really made you feel that the characters respected and feared thr storm.
Mark Mancina’s low cello lines were extremely missed in this new movie
I actually like the music for Twisters more than Twister. I love both, but if I had to choose, I like the new soundtrack more.
Couldn't agree more, I love the new movie but the score was definitely lacking a bit
Twisters had me excited until the trailers (I didn't like them at all) but after I heard the great reviews I got super hyped.. And after seeing it, I really enjoyed it! Much better then I remotely expected originally.
Absolutely. I think a lot of movies this year are better than their trailers.
@AnotherNickMovies I agree 100%.. One complaint I also have with them is they reveal too much! As much as I loved Twisters and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, both trailers revealed most of the movie.. Bad decision

Great video! My only call out would be that the first movie often featured a green sky because here in Oklahoma the sky often does turn green right before a storm. It is one of the things we often mark on days we have to stay weather aware.

Both films are good, but I have to lean towards the original Twister. It made you feel that fear of the tornadoes and you could feel it from the characters as well. Twisters there was some fear, but it didn't have the same heart in my opinion.
Okay so Twisters has some of the best tornado graphics I ever seen in a while. But for the original, Twister was way ahead of its time with some great tornado cgi for a 1996 film. The only downside I have from Twisters is that they get the whole concept of a fire tornado wrong. Tornadoes are made of water vapor and a video taken in December of 2023 of a tornado and an explosion made the tornado dissipate for a brief moment before coming back to the ground.
You think Twisters had some great tornado graphics? Did we watch the same movie. The "fire" tornado was some of the worst CGI I have ever seen.
@@PrenticeJones-fh2ew Hey they were just my thoughts on the movie. Granted I did mention that they messed up on the fire tornado as people always do but they regular tornadoes I thought they did a good job on. Doesn’t mean you have to make a comment

@@BUSCALHOUN I think I’ll go with a 7.5/10 for the first one and a 6.5/10 for the second one
I'd have to disagree on the visuals. I watched the first one just before going to see the second, and the effects was one of the major things that stood out to me. The tornadoes in the original are just... off. They move weirdly, more like a cartoon than a real tornado. Folks who live out here in tornado alley pretty much all agree the new ones look much, much more convincing. But that's not to say the original is bad, just didn't have the modern advantages we have now.

One of my favorite things about Twisters is that they didn’t just say “Tornado Wrangler bad”, like Tyler Owens has a legit character arc where he learns about the human side of storm chasing
For real. Most of the characters in the new one felt like real people.
I did actually hope Tyler was the real deal and not just some like fraud that fakes everything he does
He never learned that. He already knew that. Kate’s friend from the beginning of the film had to learn that again.
The characters in the first movie were all worth caring about. Even the opposing storm chasers were great characters.
Solid review. However ... no movie in history other than Twister could make a pub trivia night question like this: "Which blockbuster movie has a three letter catchphrase?". There is only one answer as "cow" is the perfect movie identifier. $0.02
cow
I enjoyed the movie but something that’s missing from movies these days is just creativity. Just those scenes in movies that you go “wow” the original had a few scenes like that. The new one felt like the tornado scenes were more generic. I was hoping for wider shots of damage. The scene that really stand out in the original is the first tornado scene.
its called no woke agenda and bad wrighting. this ones full of it.
The guy at 0:41 is the villain and the tornado 🌪️
I love reviews that aren't driven by nostalgia because they offer fairer analysis and rating. For me, Twister '96 will always be a classic, no matter how many sequels or new original disaster films get put out, so I'll score it just a bit higher than the sequel. But Twisters is amazing too, so if anyone believes that it's better than the og, then I won't dismiss it. Twister was a big part of my childhood, and I'm just grateful that we even have a sequel today, which ABSOLUTELY delivered!
just saw the movie yesterday and it was amazing
It really is!
I saw Twisters purely because the original was such a memorable movie from my childhood. I agree with those rankings. I also loved the subtle nods to the original with the Wizard of Oz references Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion and Wizard. I also like how Kate's character is similar to Jo especially in terms of her trauma, but also like Bill as she's the one returning - Kate gave Javi a week, Bill gave Jo a day. The use of the phrase "I'm not back" was a nice touch.
Both are fantastic movies in their own right. The only thing the new one is missing is that kiss! The chemistry was there, the tension built up through the whole movie and we didn't get that closure.
My favorite part in the 1996 film was either
FOOD or We got Cows , Another cow , actually I think that was the same one.
Nope. Not even close. Twister 10 times
Better and Helen hunt wayyy better than daisy 😅
helen rocked (same for bill and the rest of the cast) and her emotional range was apparent, daisy's not-so-much but, to be fair, Twisters' storyline, dialog and director's vision jumped the shark, special effects were decent.
I agree. I found the original characters much more engaging. The effects in the 2nd film were obviously better just because technology advanced, but it didn't quite capture the experience of watching the original.
Seriously felt no chemistry in the new one. Terrible soundtrack too.
In my own opinion, which is worth dirt lol, no. Twisters is not better than Twister. Twister built a solid storyline, one that was believable… Twisters was not that. And unfortunately I had thought that they were going to connect the two, more than a glimpse of another Dorothy, more than dressing Kate in similar outfits that Jo wore, or throwing in some similar vehicles…. 😕
You aren't wrong...
Thank you for mentioning Mark Mancina’s score to the first film. That has always been one of my favorite scores. And as much as I enjoyed Twisters, I was a bit disappointed the original theme didn’t come up at least once.
I was a little disappointed as well, but I didn’t mind the new score too much.
I am currently listening to it, and it's a great driving soundtrack
Slightly disagree on Twisters' filmmaking. The tornado are technically on screen for much of the film, but there are precious few landscape or holding shots compared to 1996. There is always a quick cut-away to the characters reactions, or a closup to the wind kicking the dirt. Just let us soak in the full tornado in the distance and enjoy it.
Yes, the scene in the original when they are driving to the area where the final tornado is going to take place then they top the hill and Humans Being by Van Halen is playing is a freaking masterpiece.
the entire cast in this ones a dei joke.
As a long time storm chaser, one thing I really noticed in Twisters was they really made a much better effort than in the original film to apply the correct use or the weather terminology and chaser slang for the most part. My first viewing I didn't have any immediate face palms like I did the first one, though I'm sure I'll nit pick it more once I get my hands on the 4K Blu-ray.
They also made a great effort into making the cloud types the tornados came from more accurate, which definitely didn't happen in the original. I've seen hundreds of them in my life now and I was hard pressed to tell if what I was watching was some actual used storm chaser stock footage or CGI. In the original Twister, the only one that actually more or less looked accurate was the big wedge in the end.
They even (mostly) got the wind fields around the tornadoes right. Many smaller things some chasers watch from in real life, like she saw the changes in wind direction in the field, etc. I'd still like to get my hands on some of that stock vehicle glass that is high wind/debris proof though! LOL Oh and I did notice one technology upgrade. We went from CB radios that worked while they weren't even turned on in Twister, to now we CB radios that work without an antenna attached. Minor visual continuity error but it bugs me! heh
The PAR units are a real thing but somewhat bigger. I know of at least one University that has a truck mounted one they have been using out in the field. Over time, like all things electronic, I'm sure we'll eventually see more portable models.
I saw several pieces of software in use that modern day chasers use including myself. And also, that are some actual, real life storm chasers being used as background extras along with their vehicles, especially at the convenience store. That whole chaser convergence (that's what we chasers call it, among other things) is a very real thing.
I think they did a fantastic job of brining in a whole lot of elements of real, modern day storm chasing.
of course they took libertys in the 90s it was all about what they could show you not how accret it was. it was about the fun in doing it.
They made the twisters boring. I don’t know how they did it, but they did. The whole windmill scene could have been terrifying, but it was boring as hell.
And there was no build-up or tension like the first one.
I really think you didn’t watch the movie
Fun fact Tyler is based on Reed Timmer who has 1 million subs which everyone who is in the storm chasing scenes knows.
He's not meant to be seen as a big celebrity btw
Ok look don't get me wrong I liked Twisters but honestly I much prefer the original one more. I grew up ever since I was a kid with Twister and I absolutely loved everything about it. When I heard there would be a sequel I was excited until the trailers showed up and I was really critizing it alot saying that "it is a just a cash grab film" but then again I would be worried that other films I watch like a certain one *cough**cough* "Jurassic World" were cash grabs "But I will not talk about that cause I love those movies." But once I watched the movie I liked it but idk if I need a few more watches or not but I still am mixed about Twisters soo I'll still give it a chance and also side note still mad there wasnt a cow this time lol.
Yeah, same here. Love Bill and Helen. Twisters is very good too. I'm glad Glenn is getting more recognition
I honestly love both of them, but I enjoyed Twisters due to some more meteorological accurate stuff (like the overpass scene, which was a pet peeve of mine in the original Twister film)
At least yoy got Chickens. (Best scene was the chickens)
At about 4:30 where you are talking the scenes look green, that could be how it was supposed to be, even though it wasn't really in the movie. A green sky is common with tornados. It doesn't always happen, but it does happen a lot.

I’m curious if they will make another because usually movies these days have way to much drama and the ending just leaves you wondering if Kate stayed in Oklahoma with Tyler and started dating or later went back to New York. I think the ending is perfect for basing another movie off of and continuing the plot. Twisters is genuinely my favorite movie that was recently made because it didn’t involve too much drama and not enough of what the movie should be about (example is Top Gun: Maverick)

That ruins a lot of modern movies for me, as well. I rarely watch movies newer than 2003. I personally watch older movies to get away from a lot of modern stuff that annoys me.
Yeah I called Twisters Clout Chasers! That's what killed it for me. And the main character felt like a Mary Sue. Plus forcing the romance between her and the Tornado Wrangler felt unnecessary. Just my opinion.
In answer to the question in the title of this video, no. Not even close.
Here is what I felt let Twisters down.
The characters, Tyler Owens aside, were flat. They didn't hammer into Kate's personality and trauma deeply enough where they explored it with Jo much better in the first movie. I never rooted for her. Javi was a tonally weird character that I wasn't sure was ever a villain or a hero. The rest were very so-so, no villains which is fine as they are the tornadoes. But the plot felt very repeated in lots of elements. Cocky gung ho guy initially going against the main protagonist. The main female lead scarred by loss of a loved one. Trying to get sensors special things inside a twister. A red truck being the main vehicle of the heroes.
The action set pieces were fine in Twisters, but they didn't carry the same emotional weight. The scene of them rescuing people from the destroyed town felt less impactful than the one in Wakita in the first movie.
I know some praised this for basically being a standalone to the first movie, but I felt it would have worked much better as a direct sequel. They could have had Kate as the daughter of Joe and Bill, with her following in her dads footsteps after he passed away(linked into the real life passing of Bill Paxton) and her trying to live up to her parents reputation and legacy. Would have explained Kate's gift for Tornado predicting that she learned it from them and it would have made an interesting dynamic where Jo is wary of her daughter treading the same path and dangers she and Bill did.
The side characters in Owen's crew were not memorable compared to Dusty, Rabbit, Beltzer etc.
For me, Twister was a 7/10 movie that gets better with rewatches. Twisters is a 6/10. Not bad, but not as good as the original.
Excellent review! Even the suspence & music score of the new one was no where near as good as the old one. In the old one u felt Actual fear for the characters durring the tornado scene. I besides the opening and mabey the Pool scene I never felt the fear for them. Also there was no real triumph moment. When Jo and Bill finally got Dorothy up u felt it! Like all there hard work finally payed off.
When Kate was rushing to the twister in order to distory it to save the people in the theater 🎥 I was like meh..
Music wize really stunk I understand the country theme music thats fine. But all throughout the movie and when it was crunch time we never got the creepy or even suspenseful music like the original to build up the anxiety of the terrifying tornado.
the original just hit diffrent on all lvls.
If they didn't have modern tech you could think of it as a prequel. Tyler acts the way Bill was described to be in his youth to earn the nickname "The Extreme"

I was so disappointed Twisters didnt seem to have much of any original music tracks. I was hoping we'd get at least a bit of Downdraft, given its seen as pretty much the main theme of Twister and was used for the Universal vfx attraction, playing at some point but I was left unfulfilled
If Humans Being by Van Halen would have been in this film I would have instantly given it a 7 for that alone.
I liked the songs in this movie, they were fun..country but fun. Especially the one where Kate is trying to sneak away from Tyler by pretending to get him tea🤣 I think the song was called Too Easy.
I loved the music in Twisters. I downloaded the sound track because of it. Ain’t no love in Oklahoma is excellent
I think Twisters was good, better than i expected, but i still love Twister more. Part of it may be nostalgia as i grew up watching this as a kid with my parents. I think it was nore simple and straightforward, allowing the visuals and characters to carry and direct the story. I think the original built up tension better and the score and music really built the tension and fun moments with hype. The side characters were also more fleshed out and had more direct impact and more rememberable.
Twisters, i think, got more dark with the situations and tried to be heavier than the original to stand out. It seems like it tried to put a twist on the teams between who were in it for the right or wrong reasons. It made good call backs and tried to be respectful and different at the same time. The effects are extreme and look great and gritty. Also glad they brought back the J10 at the rodeo and love they had the TRX as well. Not as much of a cool car movie as the first, but they did use some cool vehicles.
I wonder if the refinery scene was taken from the the Super Tuesday Outbreak in 2008. A tornado hit an oil pumping station in Tennessee, which then exploded. It's 10 miles from my house. It looked like the world was on fire.
Honestly think you did an amazing job breaking it all down. I think the idea of the “bad guys” with Kate originally being on their “side” is interesting, along with all the side characters being developed though out the story like the British guy Ben is amazing. Everyone had a role and they fulfilled that role amazing.
I really enjoyed the original but then I really enjoyed the new one too...much more than I thought I would. They both stand on there own merits.
I recently rewatched the og Twister.

Idk the original had more fast9 energy.
I've always been a fan of orginal movies with very few remakes or inspired similar movies ever come close, but in this case the second movie is better, at least for me. It's rare that a remake does so much justice to the original and Twisters is one of those. Hope it gets a sequel very soon.
I definitely like Twisters more than Twister.
I saw Twisters and I didn’t like it too much at first because I love the original Twister so I was a little more biased towards it. After watching it again I now love it. For me I just had to enjoy it and not compare it to the original. It’s in itself its own monster of a movie and I love it! 😊
No way!! The original was much better. I just saw twisters yesterday and thought that it was kind of boring and it felt like none of the tornadoes were really taken seriously whereas the first twister you could feel the tension… the graphics may have gotten better. But I think the original is far superior. Trust me I really wanted to love this new one… but it felt a little over, exaggerated and somewhat woke.

This video is awesome, love you're new idea for videos, so heres my suggestion of doing the same thing: Jurassic World Camp Cretaseous vs Jurassic World Chaos Theory or The Super Mario Bros Movie vs The Sonic The Hedgehog movies 1 and 2.
Actually, I changed my mind, new suggestion: Puss In Boots: The Last Wish vs Spiderman Across The SpiderVerse.
Puss in Boots vs ASV is a spicy one. I’m gonna keep that one in the back pocket thank you.
I've always been really interested in meteorology, and Twisters actually blew my mind with how accurate it really was in some cases.
Such as overpasses being the worst place you want to be, I was very happy they included that bit of information as that could actually save a few people's lives.
Or the power flashes when a tornado hits power line, that was a cool touch. In the first movie they attempted something like that but it looked like your typical Hollywood explosion.
I also liked that they showed rain wrapped tornados too because that's how a lot of tornados look and it can make them hard to see at times, they're not all beautiful giant spectacles.
I also made a comment to my friend while rewatching the first movie before going to see the second about how the EF scale isn't based on how fast or strong a tornado is, it's based on damage. And I got some MAJOR déjà vu when they basically said the exact same thing as me WORD FOR WORD in the movie.
The weather enthusiast in me would have been happy with even just a simple movie about tornados that had mediocre characters. But somehow Twisters EXCEEDED my expectations and blended an overall pretty good plot with scientific accuracy. I expected to hate Tyler and I thought he was going to be your typical "main character love interest" but I ended up actually liking him at the end (primarily because they didn't kiss). Honest 10/10 in my book, it "blew" me away (I'm sorry)
NO IT'S NOT!! THE ORIGINAL IS WAY BETTER!
don't let nostalgia blind you.
The new one is absolutely epic, love the old one too still.
Nah, the original is great but the new one is better. Objectively better. Acting is better. Characters are better. CGI is better. It’s just a better movie.
I thought the same thing. Javi's character needed more development. Lots of scenes that were shot were not used. I think they cut the story so they cold add more CGI.
well I'm gonna find out cause I'm watching it with my grandpa on tuesday at the cinema :D
watched twisters yesterday in the cinema, i really enjoyed it, sound, characters, visuals i thought were all very good, pacing it was maybe a bit too long i felt but other than that i think it was a worthy sequel, i would need to watch the first film again but i appreciate both.
I agree that it's better than the original, for the most part.
The original Twister aged very well. A large part of that was due to using PRACTICAL effects whenever possible, like the OG Jurassic Park. Certain parts of Twisters was giving jarring Superhero Climactic CGI Showdown energy which broke immersion.
Great video as always bro!
Thanks, bro!
“The tornado doesn’t have beef with her. It just has beef.” Moo 🐮 (flying cow)
“Cow”
😂🤣
Have you thought of looking at free willy?
(I bring it up because i don't know if my generation even knows of it)
That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time … long time
Yeah, the other reason i asked is because I grew up with the first two films and saw the 3rd film and tv series later in life. (tbh the 3rd film could have been done a bit better or differently and the tv series could have been done a lot differently cause man is it unhinged xD) @@AnotherNickMovies
Both movies have their strengths and weaknesses, both have a great cast and great rendered torandies for their respective time when they were made, I can't choose which is better
I really felt the new movie sucked. The glen powell character was trying to be a reed timmer and didn't quite pull it off. The kate character was way too shallow and this whole concept seems put together at the last minute.
The original twister was a much better movie.
YES BRUH IT SUCKED AZZ I was highly disappointed
@@BUSCALHOUNBest parts were in the trailer bro
@@breanntheartist1989 I agree
Love that you’re using the 4K upgrade for TWISTER! Hey anyone who wants this new remaster scan in physical format it is available at Wal-Mart with a WE GOT COWS Cover art! It’s also ONLY 8 dollars! It will look liked the old Blu ray from disc to cover.
Wait it just came up in the video! COOL! I think the remaster makes the tornado sequences SOOOO much cooler.
I think Twisters is better than Twister based on the fact that is doesn't have a stupid love triangle or an annoying character like Melissa in it.
If you could re-edit the first movie to eliminate melissa’s character, then it would be even with Twisters LOL. Melissa and that storyline are the only thing I hate about the first movie.
lets reedit twisters without all the dei agenda it might be a good movie. 1 charactor vs a entire cast.
I’ll always have respect for Twister especially the opening scene, the effects on the tornados, and Bill Paxton’s performance. However, gotta pick Twisters as my favorite for how entertaining and fun it was especially its dark opening scene, the sequences like the rodeo and 3rd act that gave me chills, and the cast was so likable to me ❤.
(Spoiler Warning for those who haven't seen Twisters yet!!)
I watched Twisters before I watched Twister and personally I liked Twisters better because it was more scientifically accurate (other than the fact that the twin tornados weren't true tornado twins and how the tornado snuck up on Kate and Tyler). However, I usually tend to like whichever film I watch first so y'all can veto this as a helpful comment if you want.
I'm not sure how you could call this more scientifically accurate. They kill a tornado with rockets.
Glad to see Glenn Powell getting recognition and bigger/more roles
Twisters was good, but definitely not better than the 1996 Original. Destroying a tornado? Come on. Really? I know it's just a movie but that was a deal breaker for me. I respectfully disagree that Twisters is better than the original. It had some nods and references to the original but I don't feel it's better.
Just rewatched 'Twister'. The last third of the film is as exciting and intense as an action film can get. It still holds up as a genuine classic 28 years later.
The 96'. I think the new CGI is garbage
I seen Twisters (2024) in Theaters last month
no way the new one is better than the original. With this new one, the marketing team lied to us deliberately. They billed the film as a sequel, its not, its a reboot. They didn't want people to go "oh another remake and be turned off." Its a modern version of the original
Fun Fact about me POSSIBLE SURGEON
The first time I saw anything Twister related was a advert poster at a bus stop, in the end I watched with a group of friends and going in I thought it was going to be a Wizard of spin (I only thought this because I had never heard of the 90s original or seen trailers for the 2024 movie) although it wasn't what I thought it was I still enjoyed and my prediction wasn't that far off as at the start of the movie they a machine called "Dorothy" (which it looks like it appeared in the 90s version and I think they acknowledge this with the line that it is old) and later on in Twisters the team that Kate started to work with had the codename Wizard, Scarecrow, Lion and Tinman
I have to disagree with the filmmaking. There were parts where objects further from the tornado than them got blown towards them while they were standing fine.
That happens in both movies
@@f5tornado831 If we really think about it, smaller cars could get picked up before people , especially anything big and light. That’s why in crazy straight line winds you see these trampolines and sheds get blown away but not people.
@Adumzzinthehouse You're telling me a car will be pushed by the wind before a person even gets knocked down? A trampoline and a car are two very different things. Also it's not just cars.
@@AnotherNickMovies It doesn't happen nearly as much in twister.
@@f5tornado831 Yes larger people can withstand higher winds that light cars, besides small and light people
Nothing beats the original Twister, although this sequel does seem good, and I cannot wait to watch it!
answer is no. If an F5 tornado has a hold of someone and is trying to suck them into the funnel a guy can not hold that person with his hand, and anchor himself with a cowboy boot.
Twister will always be the best for me. Because Van Halen did a lot for the soundtrack including Humans Being which is one of my all time favorite Van Halen songs. Plus the humor in Twister was legendary. No one can beat the EXTREME!
The ranking in this video is wrong. The original Twister (1996) is, in fact, the superior movie.
The two things I didn't like about the new Twisters was the score (though I did hear hints of the original score in certain places). I REALLY hope they release a score version with Mark Mancina or someone else really great at scoring. I feel like the music in the first Twister makes it feel like this dire mission that people are putting their lives on the line for, like give your all because nothing is more important. There's also the majestic majesty that the Twisters are protrayed as.
For example, during the twins in Twister, you have Bill say, "You guys better hang back. We're getting slammed in here." and then the music swells as they speed ahead and you see the rest of the team drop further and further behind. And the shot of them inside the truck is extremely tense, you can tell both of them are like crossing their fingers. And then it has that shot of them driving down onto that land bridge. And another example, is during the first Twister, the camera zooms out away from the truck and focus on the Twister and the music just represents the awe and danger of this force of nature tearing across the earth.
Another example is the great charaterization. You hear Belthazar yelling that they should get "out of there", you see the team interacting and being actively concerned for one another. Meg's house losing stability and Dusty yelling, "MEG!!" and rushing forward to help Jo and Bill. The teams hands when they are all cut up from making the spinning tops for the Dorothy sensors. The entire Rabbit Tracks theme and interactions there, "Jesus Christ", "Mother of God." haha and so on.
But I really liked Twisters I think.
I'm thinking about the movie a day afterward so that's definitely something.
The second thing, I would fix is I wish we got to spend more time with Tyler's rag-tag team after Kate switches sides, like, getting to know them a little like we got to know a lot of the original crew.
Some more tie-in's would have been fun too, even mentioning Jo and Bill's contribution to the science or what came of it would have been fantastic.
Good movie, but it had none of the original cast members and didn't have the humor of the original.
It's the original every time for me. The characters felt like real people with real problems. It was fun, corny, exciting and it had a great musical score. I liked the new one, and it had some amazing storm chasing references, but Tyler's character felt like a copy/paste Mills and Boon lead to me:
'Bad boy meets smart, strong woman and they clash. Except then she learn he does charity, is university educated, has no flaws and is acutally The Perfect Man.' Pfft. At least have him pick his nose when he thinks no one is looking. Everyone needs a flaw.
Aint no why you driving a damn truck into 1996 twisters... this dude smoking big crack to think this bs is better then the original... first off it had kids chasing... and then dude driving the truck into the twisters made the twisters look weak as hell 😂

This is why I consider Twisters a remaster/requel.
