Hi Mary,
Thanks for your concerns. As I explained in the video on 1:38 ; Of course they don't, the elephants are not a tourist attraction and are not used for rides by tourists. The person on the elephant you see in the video is the mahout, also known as the owner and caretaker of the elephant. He only sits on the neck when necessary, for a short amount of time so they won't harm the elephants' health.
