- Robert William Cray is an American blues guitarist and singer. In this North Sea Jazz concert on July 10th, 1987, he plays with his band a selection of his most recent repertoire, including several compositions of his 1986 album ‘Strong Persuader’

The concert was recorded at the North Sea Jazz Festival 1987, Congress Building, The Hague, The Netherlands, 10 July 1987 by AVRO Television.

At that NSJF in 1987 (22 years of age), I saw Diana Schuur on saterday. I had Robert Cray on cassette/tape with 1 album but I did't realise he was a GREAT blues artist... I still regret I did not visit his concert on vriday....so nearby !!
I’ve been fortunate to see Mr.cray in each decade since hearing him in the eighties. Now it’s time for another, see you soon my friend.

Tim Kaihatsu on the second guitar
Tim was a fine, fine player, with a distinctive style. He really shined in the little bit of soloing he did with the band back then.

I liked Tim's guitar solo playing, sadly no longer with us. The one I remember was smoking gun.

LOVE that version of "I guess I showed her"! And that slowed down version of "Still Around"! Thanks for posting this.
At 39:00 he does this up tempo bluesy "Change in Heart" where his vocals are really for front and the sweat is pouring off of him - great performance. And then at 50:15 Smoking Gun where his guitar originality is highlighted - he breaks a string and the guitar switch is flawless - sweet licks galore.
Well spotted! He never missed a beat. Pure Class.

Great show , but Robert's guitar was out of tune almost the entire show...
Especially on the first song n coulda had a change of heart it was bad. Probably why he kept switching guitars. N since he's such a busy player he couldn't stop n tune up
