Bighorn Sheep Rut 1

Wildlife Photography. Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep during the rutting season. Eight miles north of Gardiner, MT. The "lip curl" enables rams to detect pheromones given off by ewes in estrus. Among the rams, it's all about intimidation and challenge; a head butt, a well placed kick, even a leaning on or into another opponent. The only decent head butt that day occurs up on the ridge at the end of the video.
