    So I'm curious, we were married June 20th 2022 wife is from Jamaica, we have a lawyer, did her biometric Dec 6 22, I was told that I can't put her on my banking account until she has a ssn,? Was told no bank would let me put her on my account, so I don't understand how you guys were able to get that done? And advice? And is it true that uscis has 120 days after biometric to make a decision? Thanks for your help, God bless..

    • @JnPSwirl
      @JnPSwirl  Před rokem +1

      I already had SSN before we met and got married. After we got married, I updated my SSN with my new last name to ensure I could now work anywhere. So Jesse adding me to his bank account wasn't a challenge. (All graduate students working as graduate assistants in the states have SSN that only allow them to work on campus).
      I am not sure about the 120-day rule after biometrics. If it's unavailable on the USCIS website, it's just a hearsay or an estimation based on previous happenings.

At that point in time she will be half way through the 6 months on the tourist visa. I will submit all the forms (I130/I485/etc), but i know it will take a long time for things to happen. At this point in time, based on the tourist visa, she would have 3 more months left in the US before she would have to exit. how is this handled? • @JnPSwirl
      @JnPSwirl  Před rokem

      The application can take a while, but it seems cases have been approved faster and even without interviews nowadays, but I guess it all depends on the processing office. Once you file for your spouse, they cannot leave the States until they receive their green card or apply for advance parole which will enable them to travel out of the States while the application is being processed.

      Read to identify which category you fall in and what forms you need to fill. Please check out Kseniya’s channel. She has videos on how to fill out forms and step-by-step processes for USCIS applications. I am sure you will need I-130- Petition for Alien Relative
      I-485- Adjustment of status

      Congrats on your marriage! Every form you feel have instructions and request for other documents that you need to submit so make sure to always read the instructions so you get over the process early. I am not sure whether you both live here in the States or not. If you do, then you can go ahead and let your husband fill out the adjustment of status form- I-485 and make sure to read the instructions of the form so you know what other documents/ forms to fill and attach. If he doesn't live here in the States, then you will have to wait till your I-130 is approved before he can file the I-485. I hope this helps
