Andy, good luck with your International series and Open qualifying.
I spoke with a DP World tour pro pal of mine about Aimpoint on tour, he said “all the poor putters try it, need something other than a poor stroke to blame” top players at the US Open were not using it, only some of the 2nd string and those with putting issues. He also said that some US University coaches use it, but they also used to have all their teams use broomstick putters. He asked trusted player who had taken the course, but immediately dumped it, why? common answer, less productive inside 15ft, lag putting is more about pace than line.
Yeah each to their own and I think once you try something you can have a valid opinion.
Ive always had a decent stroke so its no desperate measure. Ive just always struggled reading greens and this gives me a pretty definitive line that I trust.
Still learning but its good to learn
@@andycartergolf putting is obviously a confidence skill, so it helps that way, i guess its worth it.
I always count as a putt even when off the green (unless I'm using it in a bunker with a favourable face). Posting after 1st hole so looking forward to the rest of episode

Putting- Looked that up a short while and a putt is defined as any stroke taken on the putting surface regardless even of the club used

I was always super strict on my interpretation for my stats.
So green 1 i would have counted 0 GIR and 2 putts - but technically was a 1 putt
Great point too. The terminology is likely pointing more towards how professional golf stats are collected. I certainly agree on altering input to get the best synopsis of how you play your own game.

Great golf and great video - agree with comments re camera work and dirty lens. It would also be great if you raked away your footprints (out of bunker on 6) I speak as a member of WGC who will likely end up in them🤪

I counted two when I used putter twice
I only count putts when the ball is on the green otherwise it artificially inflates my green in reg numbers which could always be better 👍.

I chip with ny putter when it's off the green then putt when its on the green.
I can chip with any number of clubs, but it's always a chip 😉👍
Well played. Really well, in fact. Only on the missed birdie putts my hand spontaneously went to my mouth/chin at some point and then slid desperately down my throat. As if I was playing there, I was suffering so much personally at that moment. And at the end on hole 18, well, that's when it happened the way it had to happen... didn't it?
Those two missed 4-5 footers for birdies are bloody annoying! But as you say,sometimes you hole one you don’t deserve. I count it as two putts if just off the green

Missed green and one putt, if you hit driver off the deck do you count that in your driving stats? I know I don't.
Depends on wether or not I wanted to hit it there. If the miss is front right and I miss the green front right by a yard, it is GIR 2 putts because I hit the shot I wanted/planned for. If I miss long left and get lucky to get a putter on the ball, it is a missed green 1 putt. Hope that makes sense 😂
I think its a putt if you hit the ball with your putter - its that simple.
I would only count putts on the green. Anything else wouldn't be a GiR. And if I'm lucky enough, I would count as one putt.
Nice round, I would be over the moon to play as half as decent.

It's missed green and 1 putt. How is that controversial? If you teed off with your putter, is that a putt? If you putted with a3 wood, it's that no putts? It's pretty simple. Let's not complicate the easy stuff.
If I use the putter, it's a putt.

I should have added an explanation. If you use a 8 iron or even a hybrid around the green to chop, it doesn't change the shot to an approach shot and therefore using a putter off the green should still be counted as a chip.
A putt is what happens on a green. Using putter off the green is an approach. Using driver on a green is a putt.
