Fender American Vintage Jazzmaster Tremolo Unit
Fender Mustang Bridge w/ 9.5” Radius
M8 8mm Set Screw (2)
Random ass springs I stole (2)
I used 12 mm and the posts for the bridge sit on the edges of the m8 screw before the height screws even meet the base of the grub screw. Def smart move going for the 8mm

I did the same mod and it worked very well, however, I came across another mod where you leave the TOM posts in their threaded holes, take the Mustang bridge and drill the Mustang posts out altogether then drill the holes to fit neatly onto the original TOM posts, much easier to adjust bridge height and more stable. Basically a hybrid.
You thought of trying out the EMG JMaster pickups? I have them installed in my JMascis and they have been a legit game changer for me. I desoldered the rhythm circuit since I never used it. Zero 60 cycle hum and a really great traditional Jazzmaster pickup sound
I did exactly these updates a month or so ago, VERY happy with it!
I used the same trem on mine but instead of the Mustang bridge I used a locking roller bridge, which vastly improved the tuning stability. Easy mods that make a good guitar into a great one.

@@thekipinator7660 I want to do the same exact upgrades you did to your guitar but I’m worried about the string height. Like I don’t want to install the bridge and then restring the guitar only to realize it’s too tall/short
@@thekipinator7660 oh wait I just saw that the mustang bridge can be adjusted by an Allen key lmao
@@MehoyMenoy13 Yeah the two posts on each side can be adjusted by an Allen key to taste, super quick and easy and can be done with the strings one. Also getting a mustang bridge with a set radius (saddles are not individually adjustable) makes it so easy to adjust. It’ll always be perfect, only need to adjust the overall height with the two Allen key posts on each side, and mine happened to come perfectly intonated right out of the box too!

one thing i fucking despise about these jazzmasters is the goofy ass trem location otherwise its a really great guitar(great vid btw)
