Barry and Sweetness had that kind of humble, prove it on the field nature. I think its what made them great. Payton was a bit more boisterous but still carried himself in that same way. They were both class acts.

He's a bad dude. I'm a Bears fan and I remember Peterson breaking off 200 and 300 yard games in his rookie season. It's so rare in the NFL that a player's the best at his position since his very first game.

I agree with you. I have Marcus Allen 2nd greatest ever on my all time list due to his toughness and him being an all around back.

Awesome Job NFL FILMS!!! As fans, we can not understand how much the football field is a warzone. All we can do is cheer and boo. It is inspiring to see the greatest weapons for the greater men they are.
Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, man those two IMO are the greatest to ever tote the rock. Emmitt Smith definitely as well.

Emmitt Smith is a really good moderator. He gets everybody involved, and he keeps the conversation going with that little bit of Emmitt humor, even though he himself is a member of the roundtable!
That was really good. The stories about their first memories as rookies were great. They all started at the bottom and had to prove it and earn it, and they all did
AD was just one of those rare athletes who was fast and powerful he had all the potential to be great and he exceeded
Peterson is the most physically gifted running back to ever play the game. Gale Sayers is close but AD is like Jim Brown and Sayers melted together.
Where would we be without the AWESOME excitement of our second favorite pastime. This is GREAT 👍.

I see a ton of comments about Barry and some about Payton, but ya'll need to stop the disrespect on AP. With all due respect to Brown & Campbell, AP is the greatest power back of all time. His combo of speed & power is second to none, and the only reason why he's not in the convo for GOAT is cuz of the Viking's overuse leading to injury

As a 49ers fan, one thing I remember about Emmitt is how he never seemed to take big hits. He just had a knack for turning slightly or getting down the split second before the big hit came. That's got to lead to some longevity..
He had great balance and he would always manage to get his shoulders and body down in order to absorb most of the force from a hit.

There is so many more options, such as: Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Tony Dorsett, Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, Terrell Davis, and many more. They should make another round table. So many good options.
One thing I can say, Texas produces great running backs and quarter backs, cant forget the lineman as well

I wonder what's the selection process for these roundtables. I love the mix of guys but I think it should be the Top 5 ALIVE all time at each position. Granted that list is subjective but I'm sure there are 4 names that are Undisputed as the best at the position that we can come to a consensus about.

Eric, Emmitt, Barry are the top 3!! They were different but has own way to make game fun to watch!! These days, include Tomlinson, Peterson RB took huge advantage of passing game and how defense set up.. old time 8 man in box was a given and very few elite WRs.
