      Barry and Sweetness had that kind of humble, prove it on the field nature. I think its what made them great. Payton was a bit more boisterous but still carried himself in that same way. They were both class acts.

    I see a ton of comments about Barry and some about Payton, but ya'll need to stop the disrespect on AP. With all due respect to Brown & Campbell, AP is the greatest power back of all time. His combo of speed & power is second to none, and the only reason why he's not in the convo for GOAT is cuz of the Viking's overuse leading to injury

    As a 49ers fan, one thing I remember about Emmitt is how he never seemed to take big hits. He just had a knack for turning slightly or getting down the split second before the big hit came. That's got to lead to some longevity..

      He had great balance and he would always manage to get his shoulders and body down in order to absorb most of the force from a hit.

    Walter Payton. The greatest Football player ever. Run, pass, catch, punt, kick, and return. 13 years, missed one game. Did it all with what most stars today don't have. CLASS

    I wonder what's the selection process for these roundtables. I love the mix of guys but I think it should be the Top 5 ALIVE all time at each position. Granted that list is subjective but I'm sure there are 4 names that are Undisputed as the best at the position that we can come to a consensus about.

    Eric, Emmitt, Barry are the top 3!! They were different but has own way to make game fun to watch!! These days, include Tomlinson, Peterson RB took huge advantage of passing game and how defense set up.. old time 8 man in box was a given and very few elite WRs.
