  • Federal authorities are now investigating after a Montgomery County man lost more than $40,000 in a timeshare scam. The victim and police say the scam artists are professionals, using banks here in the United States and overseas to make victims feel more comfortable, and let their guard down.
    The Grand Solmar in Cabo San Lucas is a little slice of heaven for Ken, a Montgomery County man who only wants his first name revealed. Ken paid $22,000 for one week per year. But heaven turned to hell in late 2018 when he got a cold call from The Consultants Firm International wanting to buy 10 weeks of his timeshare for $34,000.

    Anybody with any travel experience knows that you can go anywhere whenever you want without "owning" a timeshare and the fees that come along with it. Just stay in nice hotels - you'll still save more money than you would buying a timeshare. "Vacation ownership" is a scam!!! You don't need to own anything to travel except for your own money in your own bank account!

    I spent a week at the Grand Solmar and it's extremely nice, as the owners of a timeshare let me use it for a week. Sorry to hear that the gentleman got scammed, I am happy to hear that it was not the actual resort doing the scamming.

    You don’t have pay to get out of (it least if your just paying annual fees). Against the law to report it to credit bureau, garnish bank accounts, lien on primary home or judgements. I was behind on annual feel w late charges it was 8,000. I called vacation village at parkway directly. I just wanted to surrender it. Wasn’t going to hassle selling B.S. They did try to charge me 2,500 processing fee. I laughed and said no way. Good luck

    The Vacation Village Colonies at Williamsburg, VA saleswoman Jackie gave us "I'm not supposed to tell you this information" but if we were to hire her close, real estate, friend at Vacation Services International, he could easily sell our other timeshare with Westgate to pay for our purchase at Colonies. She said he could also sell our "bonus week" we would receive with a Colonies purchase to take care of the bill and the maintenance fee. We believed her. When confronting Colonies on these illegal practices, Colonies argues we had seven days to back out. They also argue that if we had informed the Closer that Jackie told us we could sell our Westgate easily, the Closer would have stopped the sale. Really? These people have broken Virginia law which forbids bait and switch tactics as well as fraud for profit tactics to make a sale.

    How can you be sympathetic against such stupidity.. but to strip it down to a bare bone, the guy is simply a wuss he can't say no even over the phone. He knew he should have mentality, but physically couldn't.... repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly ect....

      I feel bad but I agree, it’s not the same as in person. Over the phone you don’t even have to say no, just hang up and don’t answer unknown numbers.

    If you’re older just don’t pay anybody anything, let them foreclose, if they threaten to report to credit agencies, who cares? You pay cash for stuff by now anyway. What do you care if your credit has a mark on it? It go away in a couple years and if you need credit for some reason just explain to creditor why it’s on there.

    How do I cancel a timeshare holiday inn in Texas?

  • @taurus10033
    @taurus10033 Před rokem +1

    How to cancel right away, and get out of a contract you must write a letter and send it certified mail or in person within the State timelines. For example this is the letter I wrote from a timeshare in Las Vegas ….
    to whom it may concern at DEVELOPERS or SELLERS NAME. My husband NAME and I NAME had sent by certified mailed our cancellation within our 5 days grace period as per Nevada Revised Statues 119A.410
    We would like to rescinded our contract by canceling contract number 123456 we had purchase with the developer. example: Eldorado Resorts Corp. located at 2150 West Jo Rae Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89183.
    Unfortunately after reading through the contract, we concluded we will not be able to afford having a timeshare. Enclosed are copies of the cancellation letter and notarized letter that was sent vial certified mail United States Postal Service.
    Please advise how soon we should expect our cancellation notice and our full refund of our payment in regards to Contract number 123456
