I used the standing base under his feet and slid it under the chair slightly. It allowed me to keep his feet flat and didn't force the figure to be leaning back in the chair that much at all. Plus it allows the nameplate to be seen down in front at the base of the chair and a little bit of a diorama like floor showing. The light in the top inside the chair (which they have a bit further back than I would have liked) shines down a bit better on the face with him sitting a bit back in the chair with the standing base under his feet as well. In fact, if you wanted to get a bit creative you could make a small thin round base (black or charcoal grey) for under the chairs base, while using the standing base for under his feet, and this would allow you to have his legs angled down more and still touch the floor of the standing base even better. Overall the entire display will sit just a half an inch higher or so and the Emperor will sit nicely in the chair without having to point the toes or hide his feet with his robe. That last standing pose with his cane and his arms tucked in close to his body while a bit hunched over looked perfect. I loved that pose and may try that one myself too.

Great! but look at the film, Emperor Palpatine takes care to put his big sleeves out of his chair. Small mistake for me to have them inside.

Best pose is with the cane! The sitting one just looks off, and the smile on his face doesn't go well with the force lighting. I'm not a fan of canes but with this figure I need to use that to get a lifelike pose of the emperor.

The head sculpt is great but just admit it, Hot Toys screwed up on the height of the throne and the light for his face is dim and doesn’t even shine on his face. I cut the stem on the base so his feet touched the ground. Overall I still like the figure and keeping it even with its flaws
Agree on the light and the height of the throne, Kevin. To me, though, the most annoying thing is the front edge of the hood doesn't come forward enough to be movie accurate. I spend a lot of time fussing with the hood to bring it forward more.
I didn't get the deluxe version so I cade a throne myself.

I love this set but my only criticism is the throne being to high as his feet don't touch the ground, massive improvement on sideshows throne and figure from years ago, it's now packed away but I'm thinking of selling it and I have the exclusive emperor with two heads.
I think I'm going to cut away a bit from the cylinder on the base. It should lower the throne a little bit.
