  • Having worked in various part time jobs throughout the whole duration of my time at university so far, I've experienced many of the benefits of working but also many of the downsides of having more commitments than the average student. Today I'm talking through reasons as to why you might want a job and what considerations you need to make ahead of applying for a job. Next time, I've roped in the help of some of my friends to talk about the variety of different jobs you can have at university to give you some inspiration. I hope you find these videos useful and if you have any questions about working at university, feel free to leave them in the comments and I'll get back to you!
    I (try to) upload roughly once a week. Be sure to subscribe and turn on that bell notification to hear so you don’t miss my videos!

    Can you talk about scholarships in any of your upcoming videos please?

      Yes of course! It's a bit of a sensitive one talking about finances at uni, especially when we have so many different fees for the same course. It might take me a bit longer to find people happy to talk about their experiences with scholarships, bursaries etc but I'll do my best!!

    • @ImogenWhite

      I never drank whilst at school, however, now at university I drink socially. I have many friends who don't and they happily socialise without feeling any pressure.

    Hey sorry another couple random questions. Do you know anyone that does politics and international relations and is the workload for politics more compared to geography because LSE is known for pol/econ? Also do you know anyone that commutes to LSE? What’s their experience? Thanks! :)

    • @ImogenWhite
      @ImogenWhite  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Alice, No worries at all, ask away! I have a friend studying Politics with IR - I think the workload is intense but it is with any LSE degree (including Geography)! The main difference the reputation of LSE for those subjects makes is in how many applicants there are. There are fewer applicants per place for the courses many people aren't aware LSE do compared to Pol/Econ for example. I know a couple of people who commute to LSE, I think it's okay but many of them wish they'd moved out in first year. It's harder to have a social life for sure when living at home, LSE do make an effort though to support you. Lots of students in the hall I'm in are London based though and go home often but are really glad they live in halls during the week just to have the experience. They often have shared rooms to keep costs low but still have the 'halls experience.' Hope this helps! :)

    Hey Imogen - this is a bit random but are the undergrads courses at LSE are more essay based or mathematical?
    (I applied for Bsc Management)

      Hi Nayana
      Thank you for your question. Management is a balance of essay based studies and maths. Generally, most degrees at the LSE have a degree of maths. I study Geography and there are some quantitative /statistical modules that I have to undertake. I did maths A level so I find them straight forward. I only write one assessed essay a term per module, but there is lots of reading required.
      Good luck! I hope you get an offer!!

      @@ImogenWhite thank you so much :))

    • @ImogenWhite
      @ImogenWhite  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Nayana, This depends more on the course you're studying, obviously Geography at LSE is more essay based but the maths and econ courses are more mathematical. In terms of management, I think the courses are more essay based than theoretical but in order to get a good understanding of this you'd need to look at the specific modules within the course which are detailed on the course page!
