The thing is NYC is an extremely cultural and exciting place to be especially in your twenties. The whole world is in NYC and unless you're from here or lived here a person can't truly understand the love ppl have for it. However, it's expensive af but Jayla is different than the average twenty something so she can make it work. I truly feel NYC is for her. She can always come back home after a year or so if things change. Her dreams are in NYC clearly.

Jayla.. your energy is completely different in this video from the one in NY. I didn't notice a single smile or excitement. I understand that you respect your mother's opinion and of course she misses you dearly and wants you close! However, we often live the lives our parents think are "best." They have good intentions, but we have to live our own lives and follow our hearts.. even if it isn't the best decision or doesn't end the way we had hoped.. we still feel sO much better (and have so much more fun lol) trying and just believing in ourselves! I moved out when I was 18 and my dad said I was making the worst mistake of my life.. he had me shook.. but I kept packing, moved and I have yet to feel that way! I never moved back in.. and I've been on my own ever since.. and you know what.. I'd do it again! When I bought my first home, he wanted me to move in the house directly across the street! 😂 That didn't happen either! I love him dearly and respect his advice.. but the final decision is mine.. once he saw me spread my wings.. no matter how many times I fell.. when he saw me get back up and keep pushing.. he trusted my flight.. Keep in mind that these are apartments and not houses. They are not permanent investments. If you can afford to live in NY.. LIVE IN NY! (Or wherever your heart leads you). It has that effect.. the first time I visited NY, it took a piece of my heart and never let go! I visit every chance I get now and have been looking into moving to Harlem. Once your lease is up, you can try DC/MD and then NC (or vice versa) or wherever oportunity arises! Best wishes in your move, in your purpose and in your success 😊 Praying for clarity in your decision

Charlotte is dope. It's very artsy too. To me it like a smaller Atlanta without all the bougie and ratchet vibe. I have a cousin who lives in the South End area and I love it there. It's very walkable with lounges/bars and food spots.

I used to live in Durham. I used to be 22 lol. I currently live in DC. Im also a creative.
Follow your heart and GO TO NEW YORK. You can always come to DC to find a man then move back to NC when youre ready to start a family.

Raleigh is a much better place to live than New York. Just as many opportunities, nicer people and less crime. Even tho half the people here are from New York and DC.

Jayla I can tell Raleigh isn't your cup of tea lol. I have family in Raleigh/Durham areas and they're always trying to convince me to move. Personally if I had to live in NC, I would live in Charlotte. It's a nice city with great amenities and that YUPPIE crowd you'd fit in great with.
I think you're more into DC and NYC. If parking in DC is too high (and you understandably don't want to risk street parking) I suggest cities right across the DC border like downtown Silver Spring, MD, Bethesda, MD, Alexandria,VA & Arlington, VA.

Yes it is! I moved to Charlotte when I was 13 and I'm so ready to move back. I live in Durham now for grad school and I won't be here past graduation. Charlotte is definitely the city to be if you live in NC.

Can definitely tell you weren't feeling the vibe there as much, but it was also a nice apartment! I am also a senior graduating college in the spring with the same exact dilemma on where to move afterwards. Family is so important and it's always nice to be close to them, but at the same time you have to do what's best for you and your future career-wise as well. I look forward to seeing where you end up and following your journey! It keeps me just as inspired and ready to make my own decision too. Best of luck to you, girl. We're almost done!🎉🎓

You should check out parts of New Jersey that are near New York's border so you can save money but still be close to NY.

The best thing about living there is that it is DIRT CHEAP in the South.

Raleigh is my hometown and there is not that much to do downtown honestly, but I loved this apartment. I go to school in Charlotte and there is more to do..I would look there too. Goodluck on everything :)

Also be happy you have a family that's willing and able to help you out. I know my family loves me but there will be no help apartment hunting, no help moving in, and no little help with rent
During your apartment hunting in NYC, you were beaming. I think that's where your heart is BUT you are young and can always move to NYC after you're totally done with school and are a little bit more established. Raleigh seems like the "safe" route but I personally feel that you'll benefit more by being there right now. Your cost of living would be som much cheaper, you'll be surrounded by the people that love and support you most. That makes for a great spring board from which you will continue to soar.

You should look into Charlotte, it's amazing here and it's relatively close to the Raleigh/Durham area.
I'm so glad to see you are thinking to stay close to family, in my opinion stay close to them, family is Gods gift to us, its everything, although u still young and sky is the limit for you, please consider staying close to family.
Skyhouse is nice Jayla & you definitely get more bang for your buck compared to larger cities!
that is so dope that you are even considering staying in NC. I'm currently in Fayetteville but once I graduate from the Dental Hygiene program I want to find a job in the cary Fuquay-Varina area. If you are in town for a while you should do a meet & greet!!! No one ever comes to NC

This is sooo sad. Every time Jayla went to the windows in each apartment, my heart sunk to my stomach each time. This fear of heights has GOT to go. Smh.
I see that Raleigh is where your mother wants you to be. Lol. However, I still say it's all about where you can see yourself at. Where do you see yourself wanting to be placed at and what's within your budget. At the end of the day, you don't wanna move in someplace and have regrets about that place and be ready to move out just as fast as you did when you moved in. Trust your judgment, Jayla. And pray about it. The Lord will give you a clear indication of where He wants you to be. Just gotta be still enough to hear Him, because He's speaking loudly and clearer every day. We just have to grab a hold to what He's saying to us.
Raleigh has a long way to upgrade especially downtown area because half of the buildings need to be demolished. Plus Apartment prices is going up like $1k a month when you can be saving for a house. Go where your heart tells you to go Jayla :)
