Drass - Kargil war memorial, Sona Marg Kashmir

Drass is a small town in Kargil district and considered to be coldest city in India. 35 kms. from Zozila pass the city contains the War memorial of Kargil war 1999. A beautiful place situated surrounded by the ice capped mountains of Himalaya. It takes almost 3-4 hours from Sonamarg and the timing for crossing the check post is very important. else you can lose one day for it. The weather condition in Zozila and Zero point is also very unpredictable. During the months of March and April you may face ice blockage on the roads. But the journey is unforgettable. The War memorial provides a feeling of respect to our brave soldiers.
Sonamarg is also an attractive tourist place with a distance of 60 kms from Srinagar and it takes only 2-3 hrs. to reach. The lush green view, the river and the glacier in between the greenery makes the place like heaven. Thajiwas glacier is the main attraction of Sonamarg.
Dahi Sholey, a North Indian dish made of spices, curd and coated with bread is a very tasty dish. I had it in Srinagar for the first time and it was mouthwatering, amazing.
