      These bikes were winning on the TT circuit against your 1000cc bikes until electronic rider aides started to take over.... not very long ago... the 750 is a much better balanced bike on the road than 1000cc four cylinder.....

    This was my dream bike! I was 13 at the time though, so I had to wait. First bike was a used 98 Suzuki Bandit 1200. I couldn't finance the Kawi. I'll never forget that feeling of blasting down the highway the first time. I was hooked. Been riding 16 yrs now, it's like therapy for me. Thank you for the retro review, great memories!!

    I've ridden many different sportbikes and I have to say the first time I rode a ZX-7R I was shocked at how great it was as a sportbikes on the street and the track. It's so stable at high speed that you feel like you can do no wrong. It's by far the easiest bike to go fast on I have ridden bar none.
    I'm 65 now and have been riding all sorts of bikes as the general sales manager of a 3 store motorcycle, ATV and personal watercraft dealership and if I had to choose a proper bike to race it would be the ZX-7R. Same if I just wanted a bike to ride on the twisty roads in my area it would still be the 7. It just does everything right and makes the rider feel more skilled. The bike really truly is that good!

    I was sitting on a patio at this place, the only one in riding gear and only bike out front was mine. This guys says " what's a guy your age doing on a Ninja?" and I quipped "I wasn't my age when I bought it 17 years ago." I've had my 1997 ZX7R for 19 years now and it still runs like a dream with 31,000 miles on it. It's been a great bike for the twisty mountain roads around here. That "generous cargo area" holds an amplifier and the cross-bar/ fairing brace holds a set of polk audio speakers in a custom box that came off a stereo from an aftermarket "Tracy" brand fairing/ stereo I had on my KZ650. It's never left me wanting more power, even when I wasn't "my age".

      Very True. Years ago I worked for a contractor. I had a Honda cbr 600 f2 think it was a 1993 or 1994. Boss had a 2005 Honda cbr 600rr. We did a few runs and stayed with him. He took my bike and said it had the same power as his. I rode his and wow it felt like I was sitting on a fuckin rock and felt cheap and rode hard! My bike had 80,000 miles, never leaked fluids and it was my first bike. I redline every gear and bike never let me down. Owned many Kawasaki's they had more power but weren't as reliable as Honda.

    I had a p2 from 97 and was an amazing fun bike with a great top end. Kitted it out with a Yoshimura rs2 system and shedded 15kilos of weight. I remember the Yamaha R1 super lightweight 180kgs was coming onto the market, never swayed me one bit, my weighted bike was great in high winds compared to the R1 which was unstable . Zx7r was and still is an amazing bike.

    100hp at the wheel is the sweet spot for sportbikes. Fast enough to be scary, but still controllable enough for mortals to ride without an onboard supercomputer. Superbikes have had a long fall from grace.

      @jordangarrick703 Před rokem +2

      Agreed....and anybody who rode an early to mid-nineties CBR 600 knows exactly what you mean. It was a nearly perfectly balanced sport bike - and the ZX-7 and GSX-R 750 were right on it's heels. Great decade for motorbikes and riders alike....

      And despite this Chandler won the championship in '96 and '97, and the bike continued to be competitive for years after that with Eric Bostrom.

      Yeah? Look at the difference now. 96 gixxers go unsold while ANY ZX7R flies off the shelf

      Yup...too many folk,think a bike is all about performance.Well,that's fine if you're a professional
      racer,but the type who say,"my bike will do 170,it's better coming out of a corner torque wise
      blah blah blah",can rarely ride a bike properly to begin with.This bike,has it's faults,but it's
      legendary,and boy is it a looker!

      Race bikes with factory support. What you buy from your Kawi dealer? Not even close.

    I owned one of these back in the day and it was awesome! I wish Kawasaki would bring it back...matter of fact, what ever happened to the 750 class?
