- Here's my top 5 David Gilmour Solos, it wasn't easy just to pick 5!
Gear used in this video:
Fender Stratocaster and Charvel San Dimas.
Boss SD-1
Marshall JCM 800 Studio 20 and Mesa Boogie Mk V 25w
Two Notes Captor X.
Amplitube 5 for effects.
Recorded in Ableton Lite. - Hudba
The outro for Comfortably Numb is the greatest solo of all time, and you aced it.
The ending solo on Pigs- Three Different Ones is a killer- totally underrated.
I must admit, animals is an album I don’t listen to as much as I should. I’m not as familiar with those songs as I am with other albums. Must give the new remixed version a go.
Also the main solo of dogs, it's so nasty
My absolute favorite. Missed by too many people
@@no1gooseThe remixed version is better except for dogs
@@TheDystopiaInside I was at the final show of that tour at Olympic Stadium Montreal when Roger spit on a fan. which became the genesis of The Wall. Was not aware of what happened until reading about it years later.
“High Hopes” is my favorite solo of all time. Love “Time”, too.
Yeah, High Hopes is great solo.
Amazing. Sounds great 👍
Absolutely amazing...David Gilmour.
Superb! I've been listening to David's guitar playing since the early 70's. You are the first person to play his music with the power and sensitivity he has. You are one of the greatest players I have ever heard. I hope you have a long and prosperous career.
Thank you very much for the nice words.
Excellent Job, not just the playing, you really nailed the tones, not easy to get Gilmours sound, he has such a huge array of effects, but its not just his setup that gives his sound, but his feel and style of playing. To me he is the king of tone, and you nailed it, Great Job
Thank you, that means a lot. I didn’t use any gear other than a strat that’s typically associated with David Gilmour either. Marshall JCM800, a Mesa Boogie, boss SD-1 and fuzz face. It sounded good to me though so just went with it.
Well done!!!!
Goodness me Andrew that was spectacular... well done mate!!!!
Thank you!
Immaculate tone 👍
Nailed it!
Great playing and i love that tone you got going there it sounds great
Thank you very much.
Oh man. That's the tone. Wow you nailed it right off the bat. Congrats!!!
That's a solid sub!!!
Thank you!
Nice tone and phrasing! Keep up the. great work!!!
Thank You
Super. Gorgeous. Bravo. 🖐️🖐️🖐️✌️✌️
Fantastic stuff mate!
Thanks.
Sei bravissimo Andrew Complimenti !!!!!
Thank you
Nice! I especially liked your take on Money, the extended part of the solo that often gets overlooked.
Thank you
Your tones are pretty fantastic! Any chance you could share some setting suggestions? Especially on Time and On The Turning Away? Great job!!
Thanks! Time was recorded with a mesa Boogie MkV and Joe Bonamssa fuzz face. On the turning away was a Marshall JCM800. Cabs were emulated using a two notes torpedo captor X.
Recorded with thee channels in my DAW. Phaser was added to one channel, chorus to another. Big reverbs and delays to two channels too and each panned hard left and right. Centre channel stays dry, no effects. Essentially a faux wet/dry/wet setup.
Very good performance. I just can’t stop listening to the comfortably numb solo.
Thank you very much.
Sorrow solo intro works great as digital loop and scratch sample. Fun Fun Fun
I was contemplating putting sorrow on the list, the live version from Pulse and Delicate Sound of Thunder are immense.
Ну сейчас идеально,уже писал
Great job and the guitar tone is amazing. Not many people may agree with me but I personally rate the solo from "Near the end" among David Gilmour's best solos :)
I agree!
right on the money :)
I see what you did there. Thanks!
The tremolo bar is part of DG's style & ylu nailed it! Can you do a tutorial on how to set up the tremolo bar like DG? THANKS
Thanks. I’ll have a look at doing that. I think the basic idea is to have the tremolo floating so you can pull up a little as well as down. That’s why unused my charvel for most of these solos, the Floyd rose is less stiff and easier to manipulate.
Круто!!!!!!
Thanks
GREAT CHANEL !!
Love Ur guitars. By the way; is that a MARTIN sc acostick on the wall behind you ??
Thanks. Unfortunately, it’s not a Martin. It’s a Faith Venus 12 string.
12 string gitars sounds amazing no matter what brand, dont you agree 🎵🌝
Really great sounds
is it possible to have the settings on Amplitube 5?
I used the comfortably numb preset within Amplitube 5 for the effects. Panned the Flanger to the left channel and chorus to the right channel in my DAW. Stereo delay and reverb. I used my Marshall JCM 800 and boss SD-1 for the main drive sound.
Dogs is my favorite Gilmour solo
Très bon guitariste très bon son
Vive le Floyd
Thanks
Andrew do you think Gilmour uses his thumb on the fretboard at any point during The Division Bell?
I'm not sure. It's a technique I rarely use as I find it so awkward.
Really enjoyed that, but wot no Sorrow? ❤👍
Thanks, sorrow is a great solo. I did think about adding it but picked on the turning away instead.
@@no1goose Perhaps another video for another time 🤞
I've listened to about 20 other covers of C numb and they all can't resist running their fingers up and down the frets which isn't in the music. You're playing reminds me of Eric Johnson. Even on Cliffs of Dover not one squeek.
Thanks. David Gilmour’s sense of melody and restraint is what makes him so unique. It’s not as easy as it sounds sometimes to not to widdle away with a flurry of notes.
👍🏻👍🏻😊👌👌🙏
Put on the turning away on the list shows that you knows a lot about Pink Floyd
High Hopes solo could be on this list
@@samuelmetal0613 High hopes would be on the list if it wasn’t for two reason. One, I don’t own a lap steel guitar and two, I’m hopeless at playing slide 😂
30 years from now this guy will be almost as good as David. If he practices.
money там надо решать
Are those the stock pickups?
Yeah, all stock pickups. No idea what’s in the the strat. The charvel came with Seymour Duncan pickups.
tempo seemed alittle slow for time imo
Well done
Thank you.
Coming back to life and not Poles Apart?
Coming back to life beats it for me. He’s written so many great solos though.
Isn't that actually the top 5 rock solos ? 😁
Sorrow and Dogs????
Sorrow nearly made the list but I felt it was similar to on the turning away. I do love the live version of sorrow from delicate sound of thunder and pulse.
You need a better agent. You need to be playing in the Albert Hall, not just any music hall. 🤔
If only!
Comfortably numb. So predictable. And totally ignored his best ever lead playing on the tour de force that is Dogs too.
Gotta agree 100% Dogs!
