Sir fern nakapag disco pko Dyan noong 80s Isa sa aking sister or ate ang naging playboy bunny Dyan sila ung mga pioneer na bunny sa silahis noon bata pko noon tuwang tuwa ako makakita ng mga bunny Kasi tlga ang gaganda. Nila at matatangkad mukha Silang mga artista pg sinasama ako ng ate ko Dyan natutuwa ako kz dami kung nakikitang sikat na personalidad that time... Thanks for featuring this hotel. It's very memorable to me because that's where I stayed to prepare for my wedding. We even had our reception there in 1987.
The lobby of that hotel had a big mirror which served as my backdrop for my photo in my wedding gown before going to San Agustin Church.

How could I forget The famous silahis hotel. My aunt reception took place in this hotel in 1978. It was really a grand hotel. It was a memorable event. Thank you sir fern for taking us back to the old happy days. This is why I follow your vlogs you take me back yesteryear’s of happiness. Salamat at Mabuhay ka sir fern. More power and God bless😊

Dyan kmi nagdiDisco noong 80's.
It was the home of the NEW MINSTRELS as well. I remember frequenting this hotel just to watch the group perform. Plus may capsule elevator pa sila noon which was an attraction by itself.

i used to go once slept there and had bfast. magkalapit lng ng Hyatt Regency where i onced employed magkalaban ang mga discoteque nmin dati hehehe padadaanan pa ng mga laser beam ng mga DJ- star gazer and euphoria😊

Naalala ko ag dico pa kami ng aking mga pinsan dyan sa stargazer. Nagkataon na nagkaearthquake at ramdam namin talaga yung sway ng buildibg peromagaling yung namamahala na kami ay maging kalma . Sayang at hindi na nabuksan

Dati rin ay nasa Silahis Hotel ang offices ng Swissair, isang prestigious international airline. Reservations desk sa ground floor, executive offices sa 5th floor. Lumipat sila sa Makati in the 80’s. I know because my mom used to work for Swissair. Salamat sa pag-post nitong video.

Had the chance to work there as a Food Checker as soon as I graduated way back 1986. It was already mismanaged even before. Workers wouldn’t support management and were always on strike. One of the problems was the constant pilferage of food items kaya siguro nagha-high food cost parati. For sure there were other problems, low occupancy vs. high expenditures equals to downfall kaya Di makabayad ng tax. Anyway, didn’t stay long in that hotel. I was very unhappy. It had the most unpleasant employees so I quit after only working for a couple of months.

Noong unang salta ko ng manila way back 1980's ay gustong-gusto kong tinatanaw ang gusaling yan pag namamasyal ako ng Roxas Roxas Blvd kasi very attracted tingnan. And at that time also the Harrison plaza was still famous mall.
Nakakalungkot na nga lang at di na sila parehong operational ngayon.

So, even with the name change, it's still closed for business. Iyang mga Enriquez -- mga crony ni Imelda. Partners niya doon sa Sofitel Hotel. I think as Silahis, like about a dozen hotels at the time, it was built for the IMF Conference of 1976. Or shortly before that. So, nabubulok lang ngayon.

This reminds me of the old building in Binondo (the Panciteria de Macanista), just left to rot. I don't think tax issues or pending court cases are what's holding up the redevelopment. I can tell the the property's been seized and so likely has been auctioned to pay off all outstanding tax liens. If it was still in litigation, then there should be public notices posted all around. I see no such notices. So, just like the old Panciteria building, the reason its left to rot boils down to money - nobody wants to invest tons of cash redeveloping something with no guaranteed return on their investment. Sad.

Diyan lagi nag sstay ang kamag anak ko twing umuuwi dito sa Pinas, kya nagdidisco kmi noon sa Stargazer, yan yta ang kauna unahang hotel dito noon na meron scenic elevator, kitang kita mo ang buong Manila Bay, pero nagkaroon yta ng incidente na di maganda (not sure) kya inalis sya..
Sayang ang lahat pinaghirapan at ang daming worker ang nawalan work negligent of mgmnt pano p yan bbangon ang daming bagong hotel and the view of bay puro na reclaimed anyway thank you much mr fern mabuhay

If I remember correctly, there was a Casino inside Silahis Hotel and I used to go there weekly. We also had friends who worked at the old Admiral Hotel as it was just across the drug store where I used to visit when I was a medical rep for a drug company. I enjoy watching your vlogs showing then and now of the different areas and

I love that hotel in the 80s n 90s. It was well managed by Biboy Enriquez and was later taken by his In law Panlilio, after a not so good family feud and the rest is history until the downfall of the Panlilio managed hotels inc. PVH
