Hi. I wonder if you ever played aoe2 1v1's. I say this cause I used to play aom, then I started to play aoe2 and the dynamics are completely different. Dont get me wrong, i I love aot, and I can see tht you are very knowleageable. But this game for instance, when magic denied the third tc (I supose red wasted some res), was tht move the most important in the game? Was it possible for red to comeback in some way after that? If not, thts where the difference shows between aot and aoe2, I mean is completely different but aoe2 seems to have more options to comeback.
I did play some aoe2, i got to around 1850 or 1900 in TGs so I have a decent understanding. I think aoe2 has more options to come back due to castle drops being a lot scarier. They kinda stop any advance for a good while until the other player gets siege to deal with it, and also walling is a lot better in aoe2 than it is in aom. I think aot is a bit more punishing where if you make one mistake, even a small one can result in a loss, and a lot of the mistakes are just pure knowledge based things, in aoe2 its a lot more mechanics with micro like quickwalls and archer micro, dodging mangonels etc. I think matrieus didn't read the situation well enough whereas magic noticed the 3rd tc going up and went for the all in knowing the large gold mines are forward and exposed so if he controls that matreuiuss has no way of coming back. The main decider though is that matrieuss decided to not defend his base and went away with his army which allowed magic to make that game winning push! And thanks for your good question!
You're right. Aoe2 is easier to turtle. You can also build your tcs defending resources. I'm wondering how is retold going to be like, since I heard population will be up to 200 and all units will cost 1 pop like aoe 2...
@@guilhermediascoelho3830 i didnt hear about units being 1 pop. But yes population will be increased. I think the best way to do it is keeping pop the same in clasical age and increasing pop in age 3 and 4 by allowing more houses. This way pop can be taken away by destroying houses rather than just adding a flat amount per age. Aom lategame kinda has small army sizd due to trade taking up a lot of space so more pop in late and less towers will be a welcoming change imo
