Imagine beating a game that takes hours only to realize it's some bizzare prologue to a game in a completely different style.
I mean... it's the pony island creator... his games always are bigger games inside small games... that SOMEHOW make sense together
The thing is that the first part is suppose to take a few hours depending on how lucky someone is…
Manly on the other hand have the luck of a saint after getting the “Manly” card as his first Death Card and blitzing through the first act in like 3 runs.
@@Zack_Zander technically it wasn't even 3 runs, he won basically everything but the game forced his losses.
@@Zack_Zander You don't even need that, I beat the big boss photoman himself within 2 and a half hours (around 3-4 runs) WITHOUT an OP busted custom guy. I was afraid I just wasted a good amount of money on a (admittedly good) short game... I think the dev heard me and drag my ass pass the prologue (the fact that you can say "well that was just the prolouge!" is oddly pony island dev but I honestly wasn't expecting it.

@@theblitz1687 Well, there's no way to use the camera to continue so the game restart from the beggining as usual. Just try to make some time before the bears pop up in order to have the right cards in the deck. Be careful with inanicion. Also, the game saves after every move on map, i had to restart many times and erase data just because i wanted to know if it was possible lol It doesn't give nothing, there's no reward in game, but it was fun to do it, frustrating too.

I noticed a lot of people sharing the preference for the “prologue” art style of the game being throughout the game. I agree yet with the entire story known it really helps drive the point even further ya know? Leshy does everything for his aesthetic and narrative which is why we get the original style. (Also Daniel Mullins got inspiration for this game from a game jam where the prologue was created as a kind stranger promises to feed you if you beat him at his card games.)
Do you know the game he was inspired by?
@@Danzignan I can’t remember the exact website bc it was a steam link rabbithole I went through. Yet Inscryption was inspired by a small game demo Daniel Mullins created for a game jam (To my knowledge its a specific topic indie game competition?) where Leshy was just the cabin inhabitant who would feed a starving hiker (you the player)
From there he started adding and fleshing out the story of Inscryption from this. Thats why Leshy “feeds” you the pile of whatever at the end. I feel like its a call back to this.

One time I got the “worthy sacrifice” buff on a squirrel totem.
It was CRAZY
I'm binging this for literally my whole work lunch break
Your lunch break is 2 and a half hours?!?!?!? Where do you work?
@@sissel2 i used to work in construction and i worked from 8am to 7pm so we had 2 hours to have lunch. Probably they have a job with many consecutive hours of work so they have more hours of break
I like how in that boss fight that makes the boss use your deathcards against you it legitimately forced Manly to fight what would probably be the most OP card he could've possibly gotten
Edit: "DID MANLY JUST ONE SHOT THE MOON?!?" is one sentence I never expected to say out loud
Manly: I made a game-breaking card
Game: I'm taking it and putting it against you
Manly: *Who said that would fix it*
That was a cool moment
“Look out it’s the moon one of the most powerful creatures” Manly: The moon doesn’t scare me! *Obliterates the moon with a single punch*
all i can think of is that eggman copypasta
One Punch Manly
Bites the moon.
In the words of DBZA Piccolo as he destroys the Moon...
_"STOP MOCKING ME!"_
"I have no such weakness"
The world shakes in fear as soon as you play the manly card
That's such bastard energy to not let you even be able to beat the angler before dying at least once. The game really makes you feel like a hostage with no control against leshy. It makes besting him all the more sweeter
The first part of the game was divine. It was amazing. Now that it’s pixelated, I have no idea what’s going on.
Yeah, the second act was probably the weakest section of the game. The first part is the best by far but act 3 is also fun to play.
The first act was so atmospheric it was like a legacy card game with a crazy story telling serial killer. I love how easy it was for me to imagine a world gone savage with people who try to luer you to leve you guardian beast to eat them. And a general sense of despair. And then the Metta of realizing that this crazy man will kill you if you don't play along and doing stuff like stab out your own eye. So cool.
i have absolutely no idea how the battles work in act 2
@@vincentfrick6880 It's a bit like the vibe of Hand of Fate, with the whole sarcastic antagonist eager to kill you but keeping to the game's rules theme.
agreed, act 2 is trash
Manly just become a hero in this card game, I mean once he drawed in the board it's instant kill
So he became...a badass hero?
... I'll show myself out
in some horror games he's a reference, his reputation seems to be growing on horror game developers lately
Now the dev should watch this video and add the secret/legendary “Manly” card in the game like that.
Niw imagine combining it with the Raven's Eye boon. Jesus christ.
Someone get Manly a voice acting chance because he is AMAZING AT VOICE ACTING
37:57 I just now realized that this is a whole new person. The first player was removed after being beaten by the angler
“Do not touch my posesions “
Manly: proceeds to unlock everything and steal everything
Whats funnier is he watches you touch everything. He just allows you to keep the cards and shit
I personally believe since he knows its a game that by telling us not to, he will make us want to explore. And if we have more cards and tools it just makes his game more interesting
Hes only pissed when you get something that can ruin this for him like the film
My god this is just part 1. I really like the meta game/story so far.
When the Manly card was created I knew at some point it would come back as an opponent, but I was not expecting it to return at the last moment and win the game. That was a Yu-Gi-Oh moment, what a trip.
That was pretty anime right? A hero betrayed by a rigged game, forced into servitude by the villain, last minute getting saved from it by the new protagonist, and then one shots the moon.
If there was a game about Manly that one ending would be it.
I like to think his "manly" card is his soul that betrayed him and come back to him later
Manly: I’ll be taking that back
@@artasky6093 nah, his soul is too busy being empty... and in a trashcan
I’m so surprised the he managed to beat the trapper so fast considering the magic deck is nearly impossible to play with and the trapper being one of the hardest bosses
best line 1:46:05 : You insta shot the moon Manly!
The Deathcards are both awesome, hilarious and terrifying, due to the possibility of you getting the most Busted card possible but terrifying due to their other use.
I've got a free 5/7 deathcard with double hit lmfao-
@@Zeforas Yoinked his god card back and one shot the moon.
Havent watched nor played the entire game yet, but the deathcards just scare me to death. I'm pretty sure I have like 5 of them now, but not in my deck. I never choose MY deathcards cuz I'm scared of em, but now I am quite curious
@@Zeforas
Manly: I’ll be taking that back.
@@Zeforas
Technically it doesn’t even matter if you pick your card or not, your Death Card will always appear on the opponent’s hand at the end.
Manly was incredibly lucky that he made his best Death Card on the literal first run, and beating the first act in like the third run resulting in making the opponent having less “OP” Deathcards.
For most players, the longer they play and lose, the more they will make Deathcards which gives the final fight more opportunities to use your best cards.
You know ignoring the creepy vibes and murder, Mr Glowy Eyes would make a great DM.
🎶 and I don't want to say goodbye - to all the Glowing Eyes 🎶
well he's already a great DM
@@kittycatkaii3780 well, asides from the creepy vibes and the murder.
It would be nice if Inscryption added an "endless" mode where you can play against each Scrybe in his element to your heart's content.
People have made mods that add kaycee's mod-esque modes to the other 3, in the case of magnificus with a wholly new dungeon crawling component.
Just 5 minutes in, but already: oh my god, some is actually smart playing this game!
Update: Oh, okay, he played it before, that's why
“MANLY YOU ONE SHOT THE MOON!”
Never laughed harder in my life hahaha
Although it would by no means be as cool as the game, the merchandise opportunity of releasing this card game in real life would be cool, of course it would be expensive to produce though.
Considering the pigment needed true including all the stuff needed as well
But, I don't want to turn into card!
Devs need to make a Manly card if they do this just for the lols
@@dandanthedandan7558 and have it sold separately, just cause. XD
Plus the camera that turns people into cards is pretty expensive.
Child 13 doesn't directly have anything to the gamejam game I don't think but it *is* tied to an *easteregg* about the gamejam version. Sacrificing Child 13 exactly 13 times in one match turns it into the starving child card, from the gamejam version. This only lasts one match though and it reverts to normal the next time you get into a battle.
what stats does the hungry child have though
The voice over is so captivating I thought it was part of the actual game when I watched this the 1st time I wish the voice over you did was part of it would have made the game a 100 times more interesting
This is a genuinely interesting card game. If this was an irl game I would actually want to play it. I’m normally not one for card games, but this one is cool.
Like, the host would be the scary dude directing the game, while the other person would be the player. And when someone “dies”, there could be clear cards for each person you’ve played against.
It’s funny, I’m working on a tabletop/ card game hybrid, it’s not quite like this, but it’s not entirely dissimilar either.
If the creators of this game made that card game, I would buy it.
@@ShibaInu102 Or even better, the loser has to give up the remaining cards in their deck that weren’t sacrificed!
I would definitley buy it
There should be a hidden line where he says “well that was no fun” whenever you win in one turn
For the first 40 minutes I truly thought this man's voice was the actual voice narration of the game. Holy hell. Sir you should be a voice actor
That Manly card did what Gru couldn't and stole the moon
If I'm not mistaken, Child 13 is a reference to the legend of The Jersey Devil. A woman, during the birth of her thirteenth child said "Let this child be a devil." And thus the Jersey Devil was born.
Cool.
That woman sure have a lot of kids
it is more likely a reference to death 13, the tarot card
@@notquiteright4502 That could be as well, but with the bestial imagery, it also invokes the Jersey Devil, especially some depictions of it being a creature with a long neck and leathery wings.
But, your point is also valid.
Your voice for Leshy is perfect
The modding community has been talking about getting you to voice him, for a mod
Wow, cant wait to see that happening
Idk he sounds like a pretentious anime character to me lmao. I think he needs to sound more unhinged and redneck tbh.
@@roguexxrenegadeMarkiplier's Leshy voice might work?
Fr, everytime I read something Leshy says I hear it in manly's voice
@@roguexxrenegadeI like that difference, though, since Leshy's various underling characters are unhinged rednecks.
fun fact, once i had a death card named leshy will die which did 8 damage and had 8 health (i got it from the ouroboros) and it had the sigils from the mantis whatever its called and it was overpowered then i died. 😭
this entire let's play is peak drama like you can't write manly accidentally having the options to create almost the most OP card , have it be used against him then take it back and one-shot the final boss . like you can't make that shit up .
Long elk is a reference to long horse. It’s a being where it’s got long mangled hair and a neck that is extremely long and winding, it’s a friendly creature, it’s warning you of incoming danger or misfortune, the more kinks in its neck the greater the danger/misfortune will be
Wasn't that a scp or am I dumb?

@@theman933 Yea . My bad
Fun fact: Manly's card could have been even stronger, if he had the Mantis God's effect, since it strikes in both sideways and his front, for a total of frickin *_21_* if there is no protection on the other side of the field. Oh, and of course if instead of the poisonous effect it had the flying one (Would be One Punch Man in that case lmao).

¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Best part is the copies at final battle don't copy your sigils :3
@@TemmiePlays Not copying the sigils is the greatest weakness of your opponents when they merely copy your cards.
I had a card that had 14/15 thanks to the effect of its sigil, and when my enemy copied it he got a 0/1 xD
Fun fun fact: Manly’s card could’ve been even more stronger if he sacrificed the Ring Worm at the campfire, which will let him upgrade any card four time without any risk. As in either +4 ATK or +8 HP immediately.
@@Zack_Zander Oooh, I wondered if the ring worm would do anything when sacrificed at the campfire.
I tried it twice, but each time they completely ignored it, and I found myself with a 4/9 ringworm.
I ended up mistakenly believing that the ringworm's special "hidden" effect was that it couldn't be eaten until I read your comment xD
