  • Ryunosuke Haga is a male Japanese judoka who became world champion in the under 100 kg division in 2015. He is also a bronze medalist in Rio 2016 Olympics. When it comes to Uchi Mata R. Haga is one of the best in the World and reminds me of another Uchi Mata maestro Kosei Inoue. If you like this throw you'll enjoy this compilation.

This was a treat! Throwing top players, consistently, with high flying uchi mata's, what a great Judoka.

Haga and Anai have similar physiques and tachiwaza techniques
Unlike Anai,Haga is not only good at Tachiwaza but also at Newaza as well

Honestly, I didn't really paid a close attention to the throw, just put the coolest looking clip I found. It's hard to distinguish these two techniques, I think it's a variation (non-oficially) called Koshi Uchi Mata, which is almost identical to Hane Goshi. When you watch most of Uchi Mata demonstrations (especially by Japanese) you see this Koshi variation (some examples: czcams.com/video/IMx4DRj2-LI/video.html, czcams.com/video/dAkTChZi7WA/video.html), but in competition you rarely see it done this way. Honestly, I don't think I am qualified enough to answer this question without some additional research.

Grappler Kingdom Thank you for having the integrity to admit when you don’t know something. It’s far too common for people to just fill in knowledge gaps with speculation so they can sound like an authority.

Yeah i think so. Hane is knee facing out and uchi is knee facing forward. Great video compilation all the same.
