- Beethoven Missa Solemnis, Op. 123, 5. Agnus Dei & Dona Nobis Pacem
Sir Gilbert Levine
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
London Philharmonic Choir
Soprano: Bozena Harasimowicz
Alto: Monica Groop
Tenor: Jerry Hadley
Bass: Franz-Josef Selig
Director: Janos Darvas
Producer: Dr. Lothar Mattner
Hauntingly beautiful, especially in the beginning of the agnus dei when the alt begins to sing and the tenor falls in and the repeated 'misere!'. Great performance, you can really hear Beethoven's innermost conflict and despair. A poor, troubled soul yet an undoubted musical genius. At least he found peace in death and freedom from suffering as he wrote about in the letter to his brothers (Heiligenstadt testament). His works will be kept in the cultural treasury of mankind. Thanks for uploading.
Greatest messa of the humans
Schön wie der Dirigent mitgeht. Der geht richtig in der Musik auf :)
Einverstanden. Aber wer auf der Erde ist der Tenor? Bin ganz sicher Jerry Hadley ist es nicht.
Agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis, agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi miserere nobis, agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi dona nobis pacem
I don't think the tenor is Jerry Hadley. Looks more like a Viennese bank manager. Can anyone identify him?
Jerry Hadley died in 2007. this was recorded in 2011. Unless he returned as a Viennese banker to haunt us!
It was recorded July 2005 and put on youtube in 2011 - the tenor IS Jerry Hadley. After his divorce not only the voice changed, also his looks changed (at first I couldn't believe my eyes as well)..
You mean he got a job as a bank tenor?
Sam van den Berg I don't quite get what you mean by that... (Or are you still not convinced that it's really him?)
Sorry, silly joke. Bank teller?
Triste 😢
