- “When I first started out, I think I was blind to the challenges… I was very thick-skinned, fortunately. I had a lot of dreams and I believed in them-because no one else did, except for mom and Ishaan. Mom always backed me-she’s the wind beneath our wings.
So, when my parents separated, it was a tough journey for her. Being the elder son, I wanted to support her as soon as I could. So I started dancing with Shiamak Davar at 15, soon became a professional dancer and started earning money. In a way, I didn’t really live my teenage years because I was working, but I loved what I did!”
From working as a dancer in ads and films, to then debuting as the boy-next-door in Ishq Vishq at the age of 23, Shahid Kapoor has had quite a remarkable journey.
Playing the ‘chocolate boy’ in many movies at the beginning of his career, over the years, Shahid redefined himself every step of the way in his 20-year-long acting career, with the most recent one being his OTT debut Farzi. He’s established himself as one of the most bankable actors in the industry today.

I will never understand people who think he is a napo kid or had any advantage of being an actors son. When he got Ishq Vishq and even years after that, no one knew who his parents were. In fact, people got to know his parents BECAUSE of him. Both his parents are good actors but they weren't famous not commercially successful enough to even be known by majority of people. He was and is a self-made in truest definition in a industry where everyone got work because they knew each other's parents and grew up together. People who think he is a napo kid should go and read his interviews when he was struggling, especially when Ranbir Kapoor and others who came then were "stars" over night while Shahid was struggling to make a name for himself and harder to get good scripts to showcase his potential. No one gave him films because he was someone's son, no big budget movie for him, no Yash Raj or Dharma movie for him, he was pushed aside despite being more talented. Even though Kangana takes the credit and is given the credit, it was Shahid Kapoor who was asked about it all the time regarding other napo kids who were getting this and that bif movie and Shahid was called flop and given a lot of lash back ... He survived, all these years of hard work and thick skin, kept going... I would never get how can someone label him a napo kid when they didn't even know his parents before he made it so big that they had to get to know/mention, acknowledge his parents... They were respected, they are amazing character actors, but not enough for him to be called a napo kid ...

At the end of the interview Shahid said that no one cares about his advice as everyone has a strong opinion of their own but I loved his advice and my favorite line was "Be the master of one, not the jack of all". I never looked at Shahid like that..he appeared to me as a very outspoken but little rude but I guess he isn't rude...his spiritual side took me by surprised and I feel very impressed by it and everything he said in that spiritual part. He seems to be very wise and matured as a person.❤ I realised that sometimes how we see a person at particular times or felt about them is not actually the way they are .. there's a lot to a person than we feels from outside...this is something that I learnt.
