I think your audience has a wide age span. I am 70,and I really appreciate your attitude. I would love to see the homes of former stars. When I venture out to visit a doctor, I see stars in the magazines, and I don't recognize any of them. The glamor of the old Hollywood was so special... But so are you. The real estate in LA is stunning. The Taco stand owner was in the wrong, firstly its public space and why get upset with free advertising. Great attitude to have, to restart your day if it's going south.
Actually it’s not. It’s a private business. So it’s their right to request people not film in their private business. However , that being said it’s also nice to ask permission. But the owner could have been a lot nicer about it , and should have some signs up. Because not everyone thinks of that. Some owners don’t care. But you still should ask.
Most businesses have privacy expectations and don’t want to be filmed without permission. Some are lenient about it , but technically you’re supposed to ask permission. Privacy laws. And there also privacy laws in California about recording in a private residence or business without consent. It can lead to a litigious situation ultimately .
I'm 71 and enjoy your shows. Old Hollywood isn't talked about much anymore unless you find someone like you who will take the time to give it to us. The taco thing is sad but your info on Monroe & Harlow was great. I'm a big MM fan so I enjoyed seeing that house that she shared with Joe and the one I'd never seen of Johnny Hyde's. Thanks so much!
What did she think was gonna happen after being on no reservations? All she's going to do is ruin her business reputation because of her attitude..

As someone who worked late night drive thru at a fast food restaurant when I was a teenager, I must say with 100% certainty, if you are rude, ignorant or just a plain a-hole to the workers BEFORE your food is made, I guarantee something has been done to it! Don’t be a jerk and no problems!
this guy has the friendliest personality of anyone. a nice guy with a down to earth attitude. a natural grin molds itself to my face every time I watch these videos.
One of the things that interest me about these videos is how humble the homes of the stars were back in the day. I can understand when they were just starting out that they would share apartments and so forth just like people do today. But Joe Dimaggio and Marilyn in the 1950s living in that little place is just astonishing to me. I realize the neighborhood was probably different then and considered classier, but still, that's very humble for such huge stars. It's also interesting seeing that shot of Marilyn on the walkway to her other house - the one tree that's still there is so small then, and the other is gone.
I LOVE these old houses, don't ever change them! All of the old trees and street lights, yes. Jean Harlow, just so very sad. Such a lovely young woman with so much talent. Thank you so much for the wonderful video. Yes please do more on these old houses! Silent movie stars up to the 1950's.. all are so intriguing.

It's amazing how much thicker the tree next to the walkway is today! One tree is completely gone. Trees, more than anything, shows us how much time has gone by.

The woman at the Taco place could have had an incredible amount of free publicity.---I hadn't realized Marilyn had lived so close to Jean Harlow's former home or that Marilyn had lived twice on the same street. A 1994 Architectural Digest was a special Hollywood at Home issue and one article was about Marilyn and the house she lived in at the time of her death. There's even a reference to Johnny Hyde whose house you featured here. Marilyn said, "Johnny inspired me to read good books, to enjoy good music, and he started me talking again. I'd figured early in life that if I didn't talk I wouldn't be blamed for anything". The same article says that when Marilyn lived in the home of her acting coach Natasha Lytess, "She brought with her some books, pictures and records, and her wardrobe, which consisted of a few sweaters and skirts. This constituted her entire list of possessions until shortly before her death; she cared little for things, owned no jewelry, and vigorously denied that diamonds could ever be a girl's best friend". I think if that if Marilyn had lived longer she might have become a minimalist.
Jean Harlow's mom may have talked her out of medical treatment, however, with no treatment available, no dyalisis and certainly no kidney transplants Jean ultimately died of kidney failure.
I wouldn't mind if someone blogged at my store, put it on the word wide web I'd say its free advertising for my business. I don't think you were wrong for filming there, if you were on the sidewalk it's considered public space. It's not like you were stealing the recipes for her secret taco sauce!

People in LA are angry. It isn't a nice, friendly city and it's gotten worse. I miss LA, but not the people.

I was there for 33 years. LA and surrounding cities have changed from 10 or more years ago. There is a huge migration of people leaving the state. It's mad expensive to live there, for one; I'd still be there, if not for circumstances that required a change in environment.
Anonymous Girl , yeah I've heard that it was very expressive to live there . My son's friend and his parents are from there and he was telling me about that . That's why they moved here to Ga . , but I've always wanted to visit it someday .

For a minute I thought you were going to say , Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott lived in one of those houses , because they did look similar to some of the houses they have lived in before . I love that Marilyn & Joe's home is still exactly the same on the outside as it was when they lived there and the other one up the street too. The brick walkway is the same.

Jean Harlow didn't die in the house. There was a Doctor caring for her.. Her home there was full of medical people. Mama Jean put Christian Science aside for the baby. They sent her to Good Samaritan Hospital. she passed away in room 826. I'd love to know if that hospital is still there..and if room 826 is still there. Probably not. Love the video on the house. Thanks for sharing!

Good Samaritan Hospital is near downtown Los Angeles. Madonna's first kid, Lourdes was born there. Former Hollywood Madame, Heidi Fleiss' father (a doctor) practiced medicine at Good Samaritan.

Hi Jordan, I just discovered your vlog. We were getting cabin fever after being at home for two months. We went for a drive yesterday to find a few famous homes. I wish I could go back in time.
Interestingly enough, I have had some weird coincidences with Marilyn. They never cease. I recently found out that my best friend lived in the same apartment building that Marilyn and Shelley had lived in on Holloway. It is wonderful to know that there are others who are interested in the old days.
I was interested in the taco stand until you mentioned what happened. You'd think they would want the publicity!

She was highly aggressive and dragged on with her rude comments about a paying customer who judt helped to feed her family and equally unjust child boy.
You handled the situation perfectly with the uttmost respect. I would have gladly accepted a full refund. Some people need better training in communcation and humility towards humanity.

The similarities between Jean Harlows death and Britney Murphy is kind of eerie! They both died of neglect. If they had gotten medical attention they would have lived. Britney was married to a con artist that was riding her coattails. Jean Harlows mom was married to a con artist. I just realized that parallel as you were talking.

Just as you said, if she truly didn't like it, quit being passive aggressive about it and just politely say you don't feel comfortable about people taking pics or videos of the place. Amazing...these houses. Imagine living there but I believe Jean died on June 7, 1937 in Good Samaritan hospital. And MM's agent was Johnny Hyde.
