In this video, James Ricks once again drives the recently released Toyota C+Pod, an extremely compact electric car designed especially for tight urban environments. This car not only has an extremely affordable starting price of $12,000 brand new, it will be the most economical car to drive, with extremely low energy usage, and insane city parking options. He gives his complete opinion on what he thinks of this new microcar. He also compares it with the other electric cars he has driven, which include the 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance, the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid, and the 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo. He also compares it with the "larger" Mini Smart Car from Mercedes-Benz.
In this video, they talk about all the benefits and also downsides that come with having such a small car in the city. They also discuss why this is the perfect car in some situations, in addition to the biggest downside of this car.
Many people have been interested in Toyota's big promises when it comes to transferring their lineup to electric power, however, most people have not yet had the chance to actually drive and review Toyota's first consumer electric car, the Toyota C+Pod. In this video, James does just that by testing the actual range of this car. They knew they were close to the range limit, but the air conditioning had a much bigger effect on the battery then they planned, and ended up getting dangerously close to running out of power in this electric car.

This little car would be perfect for European carsharing usage. Basic, easy to clean and fairly easy to recharge. I might also buy one for personal use if it would be available.

Awesome video, as always! I felt as stressed as you guys must have been throughout the Costco journey.
Nothing can beat gas for now, but it’d be nice to see roads with only cars like this on them (well, a little bigger)… once range & charging issues resolve.
Cities could be more dense & livable as car lanes narrow… and the roads would be a lot safer with 37 mph max speeds. At lower speeds, you can become more present to your surroundings & have a more pleasant journey.

You guys might check out the Nissan Sakura too. It's en EV Kei Car, so one class above the C+Pod but seemingly much more confortable.

@@jamesricks not sure on the range. But what I've seen from Drivers High CZcams channel, the sound insulation is much better and he drove some part of Hokkaido expressway at 100kmh.

$12000 way much over priced. This thing is laptop on wheels. It was supposed to be sold for $500

@@jamesricks yes. The same over priced reason made for tata nano which was claimed to be the world's cheapest car to fail. Most indians opted for used japanese cars which were more better than the nano. For instance for that $12000 we can get barely used japanese toyota prado or toyota harrier or even two to three used minivans like toyota noah. Japanese used car market is killing it & the best in the world

Nissan Leaf is like a Lexus compared to this. This is not even a cute small car. Too bad like 50 years ago, carmakers didn't begin mass production of electric cars n batteries. They had the ability.
