Just an other tip concerning evaporation in case you haven't heard it, one trick is to apply thin layer of grease around the insert, that creates a barrier between the case and insert and keeps the fluid from vaporizing unnecessary fast.
Thanks for telling about this hack!
Thanks I'll try that!
I read where another guy uses petroleum jelly on the insert before sliding it back in the case. Doing that along with the bike tube should prevent any leakage when it is full and will slow down the evaporation, lasting longer before needing to refuel it. Just using the zippo as is, I have to refuel it every 2-3 days or it won't light.
I've made a plug of leather the same size as the felt insert, works perfectly. I use my zippo several times a day.
@@MrSkinnn petroleum jelly is super flammable do not do that.
All hail the chicken can of science.
It prevets fidgeting though, which is the zippos main feature :)
one other thing you did not think about is that inner-tube is actually quite flammable once you have it going. so if you ever need a fire and only have wet wood there ya go.
+spiced Good Tip!
A Ranger Banded Zippo lighter will fit nicely inside a large Tic Tac box with extra room inside the lid for tinder, spare flints, wick, etc.
Thanks for sharing that was amazing!
Im amazed how different industry products fit/combine each other perfectly.
nice idea!
Excellent stuff. My problem solved 😁
I wrapped a rubber band around my Bic last year, it worked! still lights
Now I know the main foreskin function
Dzmitry Pasrednik : Nicely observed.
My zippo has a design printed on it will this ruin it ?
Zippo is a great edc lighter if you smoke. The more you use it, the less you have to fill it. It may be due to the saturation, but if you just carry it to use every now and then, it will evaporate in a week.
Great video
Thanks!
kind of a interesting idea I had watching your video. and due to the Zippo fluid evaporating a 2 weeks or so ,has anyone tried putting the bike inner tube on the insert an test the functionality an the longevity of the fluid???
+Darren Brown I think the tolerances are too tight to fit the tube between there.
@@TabLeft I've made a leather bit the same size of the felt insert, works great!
@@TabLeft the felt is still there, the leather piece sits on top the felt. It's a snug fit but that is OK, it helps to keep the vapors in. I got the idea when I saw thisYITIXI Lighter No Evaporation Gasket (black) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07TY3ZWS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gbcODbQR1Y025
do you know what other size bicycle intertube would fit I can't find one like you have
Brian Walters I think any thin road tire would probably work
will this wear at zippo art?
Non-smoker reasons here too. I got a zippo for EDC (everyday carry) and collectiblity (I'm a gear head, I buy gear I like), it's poor for backpacking, as evaporation and weight are a sell off, but excellent for WROL/SHTF as refill fuels are abundant. Good 'ol gasoline and alcohol! Who needs civilization to get alcohol for their lighter? Because making alcohol came *before* civilization!
do you know any alternatives for the rubber tire?
Coffa Boom maybe a ballon
Coffa Boom. Zip lock bag
Condom, balloon, tape, I'm sure there's something that will work for you
Rubber glove.. the thumb works best.
I like to bowl of coffee beans in the top text hand corner
