Laurel Canyon is a mountainous neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills region of the Santa Monica Mountains, within the Hollywood Hills West district of Los Angeles, California. The main thoroughfare of Laurel Canyon Boulevard connects the neighborhood with the more urbanized parts of Los Angeles to the north and south, between Ventura Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard.
Laurel Canyon became a nexus of counterculture activity and attitudes in the mid-late 1960s and early 1970s, becoming famous as home to many of L.A.'s rock musicians, such as Cass Elliot of the Mamas & the Papas; Joni Mitchell; Frank Zappa; Jim Morrison of The Doors; Carole King; The Byrds; Gram Parsons; Buffalo Springfield; Canned Heat; John Mayall; members of the band The Eagles; the band Love; Neil Young; Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys as well as James Taylor, Jackson Browne, J. D. Souther, Judee Sill, Linda Ronstadt and Stone Poneys, Ned Doheny, Bonnie Raitt, Harry Nilsson; and Micky Dolenz & Peter Tork of The Monkees. Cass Elliot's home was considered one of Laurel Canyon's biggest party houses with all-night, drug-fueled sleepovers, well attended by the hippest musicians and movie stars of the era.

Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Your videos are so relaxing for me. I love them.
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching
Laurel Canyon & Jim Morrison 🥂
At the end of the video where I get my coffee is the famous Laurel Canyon Country store is the place Jim Morrison wrote about in the song Love street, where the creatures meet. Thanks for watching!
@@Omwvlog exact Love street est à côté et sa maison également. 🥂
Oui! j'ai appris ça après avoir fait la vidéo. Je vais essayer de faire une autre vidéo et de les y inclure. Merci
@@Omwvlog Tu es Français ?
Non, j'utilise Google Traduction 😊
Considering how high the tax rates are in CA those roads are in horrible condition.
Tell me about it! 😭 especially after the rain storm I’m seeing even more potholes lately. Hopefully they’ll repair the ones on the busier roads more urgently.
Thank you for this lovely tour!!! I love California!!!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Hi OMW.Hope you are OK while this violent storm is ongoing !. Another great video with Mentions of Jim Morrison/ Love Street and Mama Cass!.1967 and the summer of love Yeah!. Still checking out the great houses youre showing. Many Thanks.Rog.Pacific Sunset( LA) Records.
Hi Rog, I'm doing good! Hope you're doing good as well. I considered doing a rain video but I don't want to get randomly stuck somewhere lol.
@@Omwvlog Hi .Probably best to stay inside until it all blows over!. Great videos of some parts of LA I'm not so familiar with. Many Thanks and stay safe.Rog.Pacific Sunset( LA).
Loved cruising along with you. Laurel Canyon does not appear to be kid-friendly, and it's cramped. I was following along on the map on my phone!
Yah not a lot of common green space that I noticed. Glad you enjoyed the ride with me! I have another Laurel Canyon drive that I did today and will be posting soon. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for a nice walk through Hollywood 🙋🏻♀️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for posting this tour of my old neighborhood ❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video....!!!!
Thanks for watching!
The layouts of the hollywood hills such as laurel canyon. Was the original homeowners who were in the business could easily oculate themselves from thru traffic in the rich neighborhoods. Back in the days, the artists and musiicians would hop over to each others pcaes. The 60s pop folk singer song writers met each other there. Crosby stills nash, the eagles when thry were the backing band for linda rondstadt and what have you.
Crazy how narrow and winding tne streets are. I believe 14:07 is the famous grocery store where Jim Morrison used to frequent. Lots of great history there.
Yes! I actually go to it at 59:05
Awesome! When watching this video, I think of 60's music artists.
Glad you liked the video!
Love this! Watching from Ireland 🇨🇮
Thank you! Ireland is on my list to visit someday!
Sungguh tempat yang sangat tenang, cocok untuk tidur ❤
Laurel Canyon and Cass Elliott 💗🌹
I didn't know who Cass Elliott was. Now I'm going down a rabbit hole and learning so much about her! Queen of Laurel Canyon, the Mamas & the Papas. Now I know who sang Dream A Little Dream Of Me. Thank you! ❤️
@@Omwvlogfirst she lived in the basement of the Laurel Canyon cafe u stop at in the end of the video then she bought a home across the street there on the corner of Kirkwood and LC boulevard then she bought her famous cottage on 7708 Woodrow Wilson Rd which is apparently haunted. I wish I could get there someday because she's still there in spirit. Imagine the music created there. She was friends with everyone Joni Mitchell David Crosby Jimi Hendrix John Denver all the greats made music and partied at that house.😎 No thank u I loved the video because I love Laurel Canyon
I've been learning so much while responding to comments, doing my own research and planning out my drives. Laurel Canyon will be a 3 part series. Woodrow Wilson will be in part 3. Wonderland and Lookout Mountain was originally part 1. But the lighting of the day was so bad I'm planning to redo the drive for a better viewing experience. Just waiting for the rain storm to pass. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Eba!!! Obrigada🇧🇷
Obrigado por assistir!
@@Omwvlog Eu que agradeço por seus vídeos. Obrigada por seu trabalho lindo.
I love how you show everything even when taking wrong road. 🙂✌🌺
Glad you liked that! Wasn't sure if it would annoy people. Thought it would be funny for people to see my mistakes. I plan my route before going on my drives 😀❤️
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your kindness! ❤❤❤
I wonder if the Mudslide is a popular drink there.
I'd love to know the street names! Wonderland Dr. is where we hung out back in the mid-sixties. This tour is a bit confusing. Great to see that not much has changed.
All the street names are on here with timestamps. Wonderland drive will be in another video post in a part 2 of Laurel Canyon. I had done the drive last week but due to the horrible lighting of the day I plan to redo the drive for a better viewing experience. Thanks for watching!
Wonderland murders involving John Holmes?
2:16 looks like the house in Bosch
Very beautiful 😍👌
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Can you do one through Compton?
At 29:19 that dad with his baby seemed nice and friendly with omv 's brief visit sight seeing visit on his dead end street . Everybody should have their first driver's test on theses streets and be a master at the three point turn and backing up .
Yes they seemed very nice! They waved hi to me and I waved back 😀
As an experienced driver, I had a panic attack when I drove into Laurel Canyon’s narrow twisty roads. I pulled a 17-point turn on Horseshoe Cyn. and got the heck out!
The streets are really in bad shape …
yah they need to do better maintenance. Thanks for watching
It's just never ends, and With the kind of managers had going for the last decade. They're on fertile slopedge grounds of the California hillsides. You Never not see the small contractors all along there speaking Spanish.
Very Nice, Thank you for taking me for a sightseeing trip. One I'd have never taken on my own.
Bob glad you're enjoying my videos!
I was watching this while knowing they were being hit with a major rainstorm and praying for their safety. Nobody wants to lose their home or belongings, no matter what kind of home you live in. I knew it was storming and I pictured muddy water carrying debri down every street trapping ppl in their homes. After this I watched a news report showed land/mudslides and flooded canyon streets. Drive around today and document the destruction and aftermath.
Yah the storms have been heavy! I've considered driving during the storm but I kept seeing on the news that cars getting stuck at random spots so decided to stay in. It's suppose to rain again tonight.
Yah the rainstorm did hit some homes in the hills. But so far I haven't seen any of them in person
If this was recorded Feb 5 it kind of proves that most of the houses are in damaged by the storm. The news had my mother thinking that the entire state had to be evacuated.
This video was recorded on the 2nd, right before the majority of the storms. I just did another drive today in Laurel Canyon. I only came across one small section of the road that appeared to have had a mudslide. But most of it was already cleared. I know there are other parts of the Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills that had mudslides and home damage. But I'm not exactly sure where those are. Thanks for watching!
Very beautiful. Such a nice scenery. Thank you. I need to be there
@olgarozumenko3774 Glad you enjoyed the video! Hope you get to soon! Thanks for watching
Always enjoyable riding Shotgun with omw. He has to stay focused and vigilant on the road while
we just look and Daydream...
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them and appreciate the continued support!
❤
Thanks for watching
Went past my fav house. Previously owned by Clark Gable
Ooo which one? Thanks for watching
@Omwvlog the Hollywood hills video, yes I know I should of commented on that one but got side tracked. I find your videos be calming, thank you and lavender latte very nice 👌 maybe showcase some of the more less known places like that cafe, its colourful and calming.
Thank you! I've been thinking about how to add some new ideas like the cafe to my videos. Glad you liked it. The country store the cafe is attached to is where Jim Morrison and other famous singers went to back in the day. I'll continue to try to add these little places. ❤️
@Omwvlog well I'll be watching 😁
@@Omwvlog quick question the house at 28.36 is stunning. What road is that on?
Where do kids play or dogs walk?
Good question. Thx for watching
Amazing video, thanks
@alessiomusiu Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
What a beautiful camping ground for the homeless!! YaY!! Look no further than this guys!!
I didn't see any homeless. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for driving so we don’t have to. So much better than Google street view. You’re very polite pulling over for tailgaters. I do that too. I hate people who ride my donkey
Yah I try to pull over whenever I can. Glad you enjoyed it!
We need dashcam tours for every cruise worldwide.
Ooo that would be cool!
37:43.... Thimothée Chalamet walking his dog....
hehe does have that similar look! 🤩
Hi 👋🏻, In my opinion, this is also the most intense video, because most of the time you think: at least there is no oncoming car! 😄 on the other hand, this video has the most panoramic views! ))
yes I've been mostly lucky with no oncoming cars! The views are nice!
It’s very Road to Hana!
You drove past Jim Morrison’s old house, among others. There’s a lot of music history up in them thar hills!❤
I really need to do a drive with focus on the celebrity homes. ❤
This is old LA
it is! A lot of history! Thanks for watching
I am glad that omv got this trip and vid in before that bad storm !
I'm glad I did too! Hopefully the weather changes soon!
Wow america is so beautiful
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
😀👍
Thanks for watching!
could you do San Marino CA?
I've put in on my list of places to do 😀
Pretty close to Harry Bosch's house
yes! i've had others mentioned Bosch. I'll try to drive the street in a future video
@ 1:45 See the white calcium scaling from falling water on the wall fountain by water hose, all too common.
Ooo learned something new. Thanks for watching!
I sometimes wonder how much money the people that live there spent on groceries deliveries home appliances etc.?
I bet it's a lot! considering these are large homes. Thanks for watching!
44:40 coming up on my first car. Subaru Brat.
oh nice! what year is that?
@@Omwvlog 1981 to 87.
Ooo I knew they looked familiar from my childhood! Takes me back! Thank you
good tour. I'm an architect. Something can be taken as an example. visualization. visualization is always useful before implementing an idea ^_^
Well said! Glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you
the state of the roads are a mess tho!
Yah, it needs some maintenance. Thanks for watching
The same can be said of many of the houses.
Bairro esquesito ,ruas estreitas, latões de lixo por toda parte ruas que parecem mais com desfiladeiros.
Isto está em um desfiladeiro. obrigado por assistir
Where's Franklin and Michael's house
Any car parked on the street is hired help
There definitely seems to be a lot of help
Not true. Many of these cliffside houses on tiny lots have no garages or driveways, and some only have a dedicated parking space on the opposite side of the street! (See the Gould Ave. section in particular.) Don’t discount the possibility that many of these people are old hippies with houses that have been paid off for decades, who truly are only middle-class.
I just don't see the residents driving Ford Rangers or Camrys@@DeflatingAtheism
Oh I could not live there, although charming, there is just no space, It's like a contunious apartment building. I would get 5 acres or something
I'd love 5 acres! Thanks for watching
Yeah, as intriguing as I find the Hollywood Hills, being bottlenecked through those roads whenever I wanted to go anywhere would probably be a constant source of stress.
Yes, it's stressed me out a few times while doing these drives
It looks claustrophobic.
So many Teslas! 😍
yes! so many here! Thanks for watching
@@Omwvlog I love you videos! :)

Hi 👋 and thank you from Algeria ❤
Hello 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video! thanks for watching! ❤
Nice video, but unimpressed with the neighborhoods. Expensive, but dumpy looking.
Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching!
I agree. Many of the properties look rundown.
Too crowded, roads too narrow, too expensive. No thanks, give me the country life.
🤷♂️ not for everyone
Hollywood Hills looks just like the wealthy Sydney (Australia) suburb of Bellevue. Could u do a tour of the gay district, on a Saturday night? hehe!
Had to google Bellevue. Wow it's beautiful! I think better than the Hollywood Hills lol. I can try to do West Hollywood on a saturday night. But my camera doesn't do well in the dark. I'll see what I can do 😄❤️
The houses are so close to the road. It wouldn’t take much for a car to veer off the road and smash into a house.
I wonder how frequent that happens. Thanks for watching!
The streets in the worst sections of Calcutta are in better condition than most of the street in the Hollywood Hills.
There's definitely room for improvement on these roads! Thanks for watching!
I wonder how the water and sewage system works.
The terrain beneath these narrow Hollywood Hills streets is always shifting, I don't really see any pot holes per say. Concrete will severely crack on these hilly roads. Because of this, these pliable asphalt covered streets will always exhibit stress even if just fairly recently resurfaced. Some of these streets, at least in the older tracts, are a hundred years old.
Some of the roads in Laurel Canyon are “withdrawn”, meaning LADOT will not repave them in any circumstances! With some of these narrow cul-de-sacs, I can’t imagine how they even could repave them without stranding people in their houses.
I am from Tajikistan
did a google search and Tajikistan looks beautiful! thanks for watching
Vraiment dégueulasse . Le cauchemar américain la zone
horrrrrrrrrrrrible roads is this LA realy......no realy 😵3th world country conditions
Good luck!.. from Россия
🤮🤮 Roads are 💩💩
