(Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Pentangle, Fotheringay, Sandy Denny ?
I came across this by a strange route, from a video by Dr Campbell admitting he was wrong in trusting the science to a Portuguese singer, song posted in the comments leading me back to the steets of Derry....... I can't imagine it's not about another Derry Mackers. Serendipity?
Trees is the name of the group. They released two albums about 1970. 'Streets of Derry' is from the album 'On the Shore'. The other album was 'The Garden of Jane Delawney'. I orinally bought them on Vinyl and more recently CD. A 50th Anniversay compilation CD is currently on sale at Amazon (UK).
I’d like to know too! I read somewhere that this band had a lot of English folk influences and also a lot of psychedelic American stuff that was new in the 70s. Fleetwood Mac is quite similar, I think trees was an opener for them at one point, as well as for Bowie when he was virtually unknown!! It’s really hard to find stuff about about this band tbh because they split after about 4 years & just never got big :/ But yes it is amazing, I would say the closest genre is probably folk rock, but they do have a really unique sound. If you find any similar good music please let me know ! :))
It is nice that these forgotten 70s bands are now given a time to shine on CZcams. We still discovering great music from this era. 😄
Siiiimm😊
