  • Thursday was one of the coldest days of the season. With temperatures approaching 11 below Thursday morning, some pet owners would rather have their pets play indoors. As a result, the Adogo Pet Hotel in Maple Grove was a popular place to be.
"It's very good for our business, absolutely when it's cold like this," said John Sturgess, founder and CEO of Adogo Pet Hotels. "We're typically going to see 10 to 15 percent more people come in with their dogs, because they want to play with their friends."
Seth Bergstrom brought his dog Brodie to Adogo for a day of pampering. He said Brodie really doesn't like pouncing on the cold pavement.
"He picks his paws off the ground and kind of has fun shuffling around out there, he'd rather roll in the snow than walk in it," said Bergrstrom.
Pet experts recommend never shaving your dog down to the skin in the winter, as the longer coat will protect them. They also say some dog breeds and puppies are more sensitive to the cold than adult dogs. Thus, you want to limit their time outdoors.
