    Honestly the issues with FR cars (in gr3) that we have now aren’t really that big in comparison to how bad MR cars felt pre update. Cars like the ford gt ‘18 and the 911 gt3 feel so much nicer to drive

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +8

      I think they should’ve just fixed those cars instead of changing the physics of the entire game. Aside from the 7 or 8 MR GR3s that felt weird there were basically no other cars that had the oversteer issues.

    Banger intro, I remember hearing that song years ago and instantly falling in love with it, even my mom loves it! Ha!
    At first, the physics felt much better. As I keep driving, some care feel much better, but some cars still feel awful. Drifting actually feels a little easier but I've no real amount of experience with it. I wish the force feedback was more detailed in terms of tyre slip i.e. over-turning, it would be easier to tell what the car is doing through corners. It's different from car to car so it might be a power-steering thing for all I know.
    The rear tyre traction bug is still present on some cars, this happens when the suspension is too low, and the car ends up losing an abnormal amount of traction very suddenly in turns. I don't know how to solve this without raising the ride height. One example is the swapped Beetle. The Sambabus used to suffer the same issue but they fixed it in this update, curious about why they skipped the Beetle then, unless I'm missing something.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +3

      Yeah to your last points many road cars, especially ones with engine swaps need to be raised otherwise they have very little traction. When I recorded this video I hated the physics but they’ve grown on me a bit. Just hoping they can add a bit more default front downforce to some of the race cars so they don’t feel so understeery entering corners

  • @Jurassic_Thrones

    For the sub top drivers like me it really sucks. Its harder on the controller now and easy to make little mistakes that ruin your race. Droped from A to C and now B again. But before the update i was a stable A driver. I hope they change it back because my opinion, the guys with the expensive wheels notice less then the other driver with cheap wheels or controller.

    Very helpful. I'll adjust my tunes accordingly & see how they go.
    I pretty much agree with your take on the physics model. My only beef with the FFB change was that while I agree, the detail & fidelity went up, I didn't like how the strength went up with it. It was simple to fix, I just lowered the in-game FFB strength by 1, but I found it annoying at 1st, particularly in high-speed cars on the straights.
    Overall, I prefer the fact you can't simply overdrive the cars like you used to - in fact, I wish they would add gearbox damage (particularly due to unrealistic downshifts), even if it's temporary like the current damage model.
    I'm also finding the tyre wear rate is a lot more inconsistent, particularly between different Gr.3 cars in the rear.
    I definitely agree that it seems like all the feedback is coming from the front tyres, with the rear feeling very numb in comparison. Like you said, I'm finding myself memorising throttle inputs (through trial and error) in particular rather than being able to judge it by feel.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +5

      I LOVE the suggestion with the gearbox damage. People have been cheesing and abusing the downshifts for rotation and it’s really unrealistic and dumb. I’m glad someone feels a similar way I do about that, as well as the physics as a whole

    Guys the games new physics update is leaning into more sim like territory, infact GT7 is the strongest sim game from the sim-cade genre. You can't throw cars into corners that easily anymore like we did in Sport. One example from my personal experience is the Castrol Celica. I've played Assetto Corsa with a controller. In AC the car is very slidy and feels it's constantly on ice as it should be, difficult to keep within track limits as AC punishes bad steering inputs, they should be as smooth as possible, smooth oscillations drawn with the thumb over the L stick. I was surprised to have the same feeling driving the Celica in GT7. I've seen alot of complaints about the car that it's back end looks to lose traction quickly and the snap oversteer but I didn't have the same issue. GT7 being optimised for controller players is more forgiving and has more dynamic range of input.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +1

      At the top level everyone is smooth with their steering inputs. My complaints is how easy it is to induce understeer in certain cars with the tiniest bit of brake pressure while steering. It’s not that it feels more like a simulation, it’s that the tires in the front feel like they don’t operate properly and overheat easily unless you under-drive to a degree that is not like real life.

    Its a shame for the tuning channels like yours when there is a physics update. Your 40 car setups video is great but now the cars wont handle the same after the new patch.
    The physics honestly felt fine before the update. Right now i feel that there is much more understeer under braking than before, so im braking earlier and easing off a lot more than before to get that rotation but overall not too hard to adapt. feeling more low speed oversteer now especially in high torque cars which can be quite challenging to get used to. Sports tyres compared to before have a lot of grip in road cars.
    Oddly as a controller player i actually feel ive gotten faster since the update came out, probably due to the steering changes for joystick. I reckon we will see more physics changes in the future and if it isnt in the april update its likely gonna be later on after the 1st manu and nations cup season finishes later this year. Hopefully if pd is ever happy with the physics they can actually go and fix the lag and maybe add more missions, cars and tracks.

    So I drive a lot slower stuff, either in lobbies or I quite often make the single player hard for myself seeing how slow a car I can win the same race in, playing a lot with the suspension to try and improve a cars all round balance.
    So I really like this physics update. It feels generally more realistic, the FFB on my DD Pro is LOTS better, and for cars on tires that are not too sticky, I think the subtle adjustability through corners has been improved a lot.

    People are so used to just drag racing from one corner limit exploit to the next, they never learned how to drive or use an actual racing line. The new physics force you to brake earlier and be more committed on the exit. I like that, but with that said, the whole under steering issue is being caused by the brake balance, especially on controller. Even just the minimal touch to register a brake press straightens the car immediately no matter what as if they preprogrammed the bias all to the front. It's especially exaggerated on controller because it's so hard to gauge how hard you're actually braking without keeping one eye on the stupid meter. And there's always about 30% abs no matter how little you're on the brake. ABS is there to keep the tires from locking up and allow you to brake while cornering without spinning the car. Forget trail braking with this new model.

    What does increasing the front camber do? What does it affect?

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +1

      The front camber will increase overall cornering grip in the form of providing a greater contact patch for the tires in a corner. In cars that corner slowly or tracks that have mostly slow corners, it’s optimal to run between 0.8 and 1.2. For faster cars with higher downforce between 1.2 and 1.6 is usually optimal. I’ve seen 1.7 and 1.8 work on certain cars as well but any higher than that and you begin to lose front grip again. Once you get above 2.8 front camber, the front grip level is equivalent to running 0.0 camber although the cars feel is quite different.
      If you run Daytona or route x:
      There are certain cars that have a tiny bit more straight line speed from running between 2.0 and 6.0 front camber if the car can handle it

      Same things, lower the rear natural frequency. Maybe increase the camber but not too much on that car. Also increase the rear downforce. The sooner you can put the power down the better

    I don't really feel one way or another about the physics update. What I hate is the complete unbalancing of Gr3 BoP. This update set us back 6 months because we're right back to having 3 or so cars being the ultimate meta again. We finally had a nice balance going before the update where there were many competitive cars for each track. The game has lost all appeal to me now.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem

      Yeah the BOP is terrible for almost all categories again. Just when it was starting to get balanced they completely screwed it again

    • @DoodRacing

      I mean, race tires in real life behave differently. Some like to be pushed and operate properly at a high temperatures. Some like to be cared for and driven below the limit. Gran Turismo has gone with the latter. Although it seems the front tires overheat way easier than the rears

      I’d say it feels better but FR cars are struggling in the corner entry department. Went back to AC with the GTR GT3 and even though it’s a big and hefty car it still rotates better than in gt7 imo. If they can just fix the under steer on entry I think I’d be satisfied.

    Is non-maxed back NF also applicable to MR?

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +1

      I tried it on the Ford GT SPEC II and 911 RSR GR3 cars and minimum seemed just as strong as max on the rear. Any car that is lacking rear traction it will benefit more. So the Porsche I felt I could go either way. Assuming both frequencies max and min run the same lap times, I’ll always take the one with better straight line speed as in a race situation it’s stronger

    • @Retheraq
      @Retheraq Před rokem +1

      @AMS Dood thanks! You think equal front and rear NF is best? Or should there be any difference between the two?
      Also, any tips on camber? 1.5F 2.0R should be a reasonable baseline?

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Před rokem +1

      @@Retheraq for natural frequency I find minimum on the front to always be the best option on this game unless it’s a road car with unmanageable oversteer issues. The rear NF seems dependent on how little rear traction the physics/cars have. The lower the frequency the easier it is to put down the power. In high powered cars this takes precedence over everything else when trying to get a good lap time.
      As for camber. 1.5 2.0 is a great baseline. If you’re running a car that understeers a lot you can try more rear camber. And if you’re racing on a track with no high speed corners, or in a car that is slow through the corners you can go down on the front camber to between 0.8-1.2
