  • Playing outside, in nature, is good for people and the planet. Research shows us that outdoor play benefits our health, our fitness, our cognitive skills, our relationships and our wellbeing.
Yet 60% of 4-11-year-olds in the UK NEVER play outside on their own street.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Playing Out, the charity on a mission to create Play Streets across the UK, for our latest theme and competition, Planet Play.
Through our assembly, News Detectives articles, a live online workshop and Q&A with an expert, and our new build-along podcast, we’ll immerse your pupils in a design challenge that will celebrate the importance of playing outside and give them opportunities to make space for community, play and nature in their local areas.
    Here's how to get involved:
1.Download the Planet Play Assembly. You have the option to kick off our new theme in an assembly, where pupils learn about the benefits of outdoor play through a quiz and understand the challenge by watching our Planet Play Competition Video.
    2. Watch the replay of our online Workshop to help pupils start coming up with ideas for their competition designs (or build along) and be inspired by our rewilding expert - Chantelle Lindsay, presenter of the CBeebies show, Teeny Tiny Creatures.
    3. Listen to our new Build-Along Podcast featuring another exciting expert (coming soon!) to give pupils time to create their models and write their letters, and let them literally learn while they play!
