      A good intake is almost always the difference between a mediocre and great team, in my experience. Obviously the performance of the rest of the robot matters, but time after time the teams that pick up the objects the easiest, through a combination of good design and good driving, do the best.

    I built a very similar robot after getting inspired by yours but I can't seem to figure out one thing. Whenever the platform that the cubes go on comes out to 90° it can't push the arms out and the tower falls. Any ideas how to fix that?

    • @jonathanhuang7364
      @jonathanhuang7364 Před 4 lety

      Make sure nothing is contacting the cubes besides the bottom of the tray when it comes out to 90 degrees, as well as that the tray cant physically go past 90 degrees (you can use a hard stop or something for this). The bottom cube should also ideally be contacting the ground when the tray comes out to support the rest of the stack. Also you might want to try slowing down the speed of the tray when it comes out.

    Aye quick question, what happens to a stack on ur bot when ur tryna score in one of the buckets

    • @kevinzhang290
      @kevinzhang290 Před 5 lety

      We designed a one-way gate mechanism at the height of the second cube attached under the tray so the cubes won't slide down, but due to time restrictions, we weren't able to refine that and use it on the robot.

    • @r3v3rbrobotics35
      @r3v3rbrobotics35 Před 5 lety

      How does it release when you are placing the stack?

    • @kevinzhang290
      @kevinzhang290 Před 5 lety

      @@r3v3rbrobotics35 The one way gate was actually attached to the chassis, so when the tray was up, it was hidden, and when the tray was down, it stuck up through the tray. Kinda hard to explain.

    • @danielbedrossian5067
      @danielbedrossian5067 Před 5 lety

      R3V3RB Robotics it was just a little peg type mechanism that held the stack, so when we put the cube tray forward to score we could simply back up and the one way gate would not get in the way.

    • @r3v3rbrobotics35
      @r3v3rbrobotics35 Před 5 lety

      Kevin Zhang can your bot grab the lowest cube in the stack and place it in a bucket, or do u have to get the cube off the ground

  • @paceylandon2158
    @paceylandon2158 Před 5 lety +2

    could you change the robot so you only need to have one motor on the intake?

    • @jonathanhuang7364
      @jonathanhuang7364 Před 5 lety

      @Midnightplays We were thinking about doing this, but we decided that it wasn't worth it, as we had enough motors anyways, and also because it would add a lot more complication because of the extra chaining/gearing that would be required. Another thing to consider with running one motor on the intake is that the rollers actually require a lot of torque to be able to collect and push up 5+ cubes. We are currently using 200RPM V5 motors on the rollers, and even then we wanted to switch them to 100RPM V5 motors to get more torque although we unfortunately didn't have any. So its possible that 1 V5 motor might not have enough torque to collect multiple cubes, but we haven't tested that yet so I can't say for sure.

    • @boss_444
      @boss_444 Před 5 lety

      @@jonathanhuang7364 the cubes are pretty light. The V5 motors should be able to hold up five to seven cubes with no problem, especially with the 100rpm gearbox. Are you sure the reason hou seem to need so much torque isn't because something is generating a lot of friction?

    • @boss_444
      @boss_444 Před 5 lety
