RIP Alyn Wallace, we will always miss you. Thank you for showing us Astrophotography with a Smartphone, Huawei P40, P50 and P60 user.
When he takes better astrophotography photos with a phone than I can with a dslr 💀😪
Skill mate, skill
Depends on the location , as long you are in clear sky away from light pollution it's basically easy to take Astro photo. Also some knowledge on how to use your DSLR. (No autofocus)
It depends on where you shoot the star,Even you use a profesional dslr or full frame,if the situation doesnt not support you,Its imposible to shoot a milky way.Just like in my hometown during night time at here there a lot of fog and cloud covering the sky and you can't even see a milky way even im using high iso.And also Skill in editing and shoot is very important,Im seing many of profesional photographer out there with old Canon DSLR with only 1600ISO can shoot more clear nightscape than mine💀.
oof
eshay larry …clearly i hear you😭😭😭
I can't believe I actually made it into a video! Thanks Alyn!
Smartphone astrophotography is a great way to get into astrophotography. I recently got a huawei p30 and was blown away by the quality of the photos. From a light pollution bortle 8 with an 8 second exposure and iso 400, I could make out hundreds of stars around the winter circle as well as the orion nebula and it's a really great substitute for a DSLR if you dont want to spend alot on one to start out with.
Thank you so much for featured my photo here. 🙏 Clear skies!!
Congrats 🌌🔭🎉
I've been using Sony smartphones for years, and the quality of the recent ones is just outstanding and even more for astro. I really hope they can turn oround their situation regarding mobile phones. They truly have amazing devices, just like with their cameras.
My mate has always bought Sony phones and I have always gone for the phone with the best camera reviews at the time of purchase Samsung, Google etc and more recently Huawei. He's a better photographer than me, but my shots always beat his.
Also of note is that Sony very very rarely feature in smartphone tech / photography reviews.... Including this one.
It's surprising to me when Sony make high-end sensors... But for some reason their smartphones just don't deliver.... Next time you change your phone maybe consider one of the phones in this video?
@@clungebucket23 I'm a sony fan too but sony smartphones are not sold in my region. So I had to buy a phone with a decent Sony IMX sensor and shoot raw. I get 16Bit 95MB RAW files! The dynamic range is insane!
@@jakilahmoulien9070 Which one?
@@jakilahmoulien9070 which device do you have and how do you shoot raw? Are you using a dedicated app?
Wow I been waiting for your take on smartphone astrophotography for a long time ❤️, love your work Alyn
This is pretty darn amazing. Who knew with such small sensors and a little phone you could do these things. Some of them are just as good as when I was first starting out with a crop sensor dslr! I'm impressed.
I have the Google Pixel 3a and I find it amazing that you can take pictures of the stars through a lense only a millimeter or so across.I sometimes add a Black Eye lense.I mainly take brighter objects like the Moon, planets and brighter stars but I have taken one of M45 with it and it split it's stars.
I was floored when I heard you speaking perfect Turkish. :)
Hey man i'm really happy that you used my photo in your video! Thanks very much! Keep up these videos!
thanks Alyn I am blown away by this. there may be hope for me.
but i’m still crazy about watching all the difficult things you do.🤩
Got it on my Pixel and it's awesome. I get so excited about the pictures. I have a Pixel 4a 5G for anyone curious
Oha, Türkçe konuştu 😅
Beklemiyordum vallahi 👍🏻
LMAO You are spot on Alyn. Photographing Neowise with my Samsung S10 and a Sony a5100 (a gift) was my first astrophotography hook. That in tandem with watching your videos. All I wanted to do since then is spend as much time under the night sky as possible. I've always been interested in the night sky and basic phone photography, but it wasn't until Neowise, I then took the hobby up; I am now skint lol
The video is useful and inspiring. Thank you Alyn Wallace.
enjoyed this Alyn and amazing the capabilities of smartphones. Very nice collection of images shared there
I used my Pixel 4 to shoot the Milky Way on the Gower and was well pleased with the results. I've recently updated to a Pixel 6 Pro but not had the time to give it a try. Once again, thanks for a great video.
Wow 😲 just amazing shots
Did I miss it somewhere, or was Nico Carver's image not on-screen? Lucas's immediately afterword is amazing too!
Am missing out on the milky way core, clouds have become something else, no clear skies at all 😭
Welcome to the U.S. Government and their climate control. In Vegas and skies have been awful.
I'm not sure if I missed it but is there an app that you can do image stacking from then having it import the photos on a computer and using software?
Wow, great content man! Honoured to be featured in your channel. Çok teşekkürler Alyn! 😁🙋🏻♂️
Awesome to have some of my earlier photos here. Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing, shoutout also to all who contributed their smartphone astrophotography - I enjoy your videos a lot 👍❤💚🌞
Please help, i can't find the Nico Carver video regarding stacking 60x 30s shots from a P30 pro
@Alyn Wallace you can use mobile camerea to see objects like planets please reply
been using my p30 pro for for few years now. takes good shots, sometimes when i dont have my dslr with me its a good option when nothing else at hand.
main use i find i use my mobile phone for at night is taking shots to check Comp, if im happy then i get the dslr and equip setup. handy tool to have.
another awesome and inspirational video amazing just how far the mobile cameras have come but for me will always go to my mirrorless eosR and R5 just back from Anglesey i need to go back when my foots better anyway clear skies and thank u as always Alyn
Thank you Alyn for this eye opening video.
Nice video. One question: What is the mobile phone holder you are using mounted on your tripod head when shooting? It looks really sturdy.
Please, What tripod holder are you using?
Nice Video! First time for me getting featured in one of your Videos :)
The Huawei-phones are amazing! I loved all the featured pics from them. Most of the time when i am in the field I set up my dslr for timelaps or deepsky sessions and then play around with my phone-camera. This way I got some very nice shots by just playing around. Who knows what our phones can do in a few years...
what photo app are you using and do I need to get a better phone than my Android Moto G?
Hi alyn, you see from Colombia, filters can be used to reduce light pollution in the cell phone?
What happens if you stack a bunch of google pixel astrohoptography shots? given the fact that they're a bunch of 15 seconds pictures stacked by the phone on a 4 minutes shot
I've been waiting for this video for some time 😁
Thats an Excellent Video And Tips For Those who dont have a DSLR like me, Thanks Alyn!!👍🏻🔭
The astro mode on pixel phones is really good. I really like using the google camera mod on my Samsung galaxy A52
Is the Google pixel 4 still able to use the astrophotography mode?
What aboit VIVO x50, VIVO x60? It has built-in star tracker (!!!), special program modes for long exposure and astro photos
Where can I get a mount for my IPhone 14? I have a Orion tripod.
I have a Samsung Galaxy A 12. So what app am I supposed to get?
Great video! The first of its kind! Where did you get your cellphone mount for the tripod??
How can i apply flat field correction inside android smartphone?
Thank you for this information
This is really something I'm going to try out! 👍
Very good intro to smartphone astrophotography. Thanks very much.
I have had the p30 pro for a few year now and back in January when I was due a upgrade I got the pixel 6 pro but I sent it back cos I did not think the camera was as good as my old p30pro. I've still not found a better phone to upgrade to
When I heard you speaking Turkish I was shocked. I wasn't expecting it. Amazing video.
Brilliant programme Alyn.
Great video, Alyn!) Thanx for taking my photos, It's an honour for me!) Next time i'll send something better, if you'll make it again)) May be some kind of competition))) Anyways, you inspire us to try something new))
Hey Alyn, I've been using A 108$ smartphone, it doesn't have a dedicated night mode but I use Pro mode to shoot some of the Astro shots. Quite satisfied with the results i get from this low end smartphone.
I am going to buy a $400 smartphone for better video and astro shots. Can you please suggest me either to buy Oneplus Nord 2 or Google pixel 4A or Realme/ Vivo smartphone.
(oneplus's flagship does a decent job capturing astro shots, and Oneplus claimed that they have used the same UW sensor from their flagship to Nord 2)
Can you bring a video comparing Google, Oneplus, Realme/Vivo night mode!
I need suggestions, anyone reading this, who have used oneplus & google smartphone for astro shots and for videos, please reply. :)

aah its so innocent of alyn not knowing hindi language
alyn , "pata nahi" means "i dont know" in hindi

"genda fool" is a cringe bollywood song alyn , people are mad after
Is there a good app for android phones worth trying regarding astrophoto . Im using a Samsung note 10
We wish you cross 100k Subscribers very soon, Alyn Sir ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Yes bro we wish.
wow such amazing phone pics
This feature is only in pixel 6 pro or also in pixel 6 ? (Long time exposure)
I have an iphone 11.....I am lost as to what app or what ever I am to download to do this....
Great video 👍 I can't decide between the standard pixel 6 or the Pro. I do a lot hiking and camping in the mountains and looking for a upgrade from my huawei mate 10 pro. The thing that let's it down is the zoom taking pics of further away hills. Trying to decide if it's worth the extra money for the telephoto lens on the pro. Would it be worth the upgrade or is there a decent/better zoom than on my huawei 🤔?
Yes it is
How can I do that with a P50 pro?
Nice video Alyn Sir ❤️, I am also capture Milkayway with Smartphone.
Awesome!!
The handy-phone I use is the Blu G91 pro. Inexpensive. Video quality is outstanding(danger to Google & Apple). A few recent images of the Aurora Borealis (the G91 is Raw capable), processed with very little noise & easily focused on the lights. The Nikon D5300, (not using Raw), had a terrible time focusing and noise was present in the processed images. To our surprise, the Blu, had less distortion & noise video recording, than the GoPro Hero 8, using 2.7K/120fps & a maximum ISO of setting of 1600. Still love my GoPro.
Have you been checking out the Perseids my dude?
the capability of a tiny lens on a phone is great, plenty of accessories out there now too
Which accessories you recommended
Olha o Lucas aí dando show, maluco é brabo mesmo em
Ele tem canal no yt?
Unfortunately I only have a Samsung Galaxy A32 for my astrophotography. That smartphone does not have a lot of settings to fiddle with camera settings such as ISO and Shutter Speed.
Really nice presentation. I think you forgot to include the stacked picture from Nico Carver with p30 pro from the nebula
awesome
Awesome & Thanks :)
I might be far off but were you in Lagos? That looks like a beach just down the road from me Praia de Dona Ana.
Yup :)
Nice video!
I do also astrophotography with a mobile phone. I have a Huawei P40 Lite. The pictures are great but can I stack them if I can only make JPG images?
RAWs would be better. You should be able to capture raw in pro mode
@@AlynWallace Well that's the problem... I can't change it to Raw. I usually process the pictures with Snapseed (contrast, saturation, structur etc.). I captured many deepsky objects. My best images are: 1. M27 Dumbell Nebula/ 2. Orion Nebula/ 3. Eagle Nebula where you can see the pillars of creation (not clearly but you can)/ 4. M57/ 5. M51 and lot more...
I could try it with some apps to get Raw images. 😀 Greetings from Austria and Clear Skies!
do I really need a startracker for smartphone stacking? and what happens if I dont
No you don't. Software like Sequator or Starry Landscape Stacker will take care of the alignment for you
@@AlynWallace so I’ll just let my phone take tons of shots without tracker and stack i later using software ? thanks man!
Mind boggling! Next we'll be detecting exoplanet transits with our smartphones, who knows?
Nice vedio👍🏻 that will become super busy when you bring two cameras and your smart phone out together during Astro photography.😂😂😂
And a tripod🤣
You got new subscriber😊
Sir
I had a good photo of star trail shot on poco f1
Very very interesting. I am 80 years of age. And I have wondered whether I could use my smartphone to do some night sky photography. I have an i-phone 13 pro max but I also have kept to one side a Huawei P30. The P30 seems to be the better option for astrophotography, but I am wondering whether the Pro Camera App and the Slow Shutter App I have on my i phone would be a better option. Lots to learn. With all this information to hand I maybe on the first rung of a ladder to climb. Diolch Yn Fawr Alyn.
What about in real me x2 pro
1:27 "no manual control" That's not really correct. You can choose the focus (though the focus presets don't work on some Pixel phones due to miscalibrated hardware), you can adjust the brightness (exposure compensation) and there is also a shadows slider as far as I know.
Ok, hang on, beginner here.... so you have to download an app on the Smartphone? If so, what is the app?
Seems like the Pixel astrophotography mode is OK for complete beginners, but most of the best shots came from stacked or processed RAW files? I agree with you - it would be great if Google could extend that astro timelapse feature beyond the 1-2 second duration.
You're right, I took my first pictures with my Pixel not too long ago and I get so excited when the sky is clear and can take a picture. Makes me want to give astrophotography a real try
Take note in future, Redmi is under Xiaomi. And Redmi phones are sometimes renamed to a different model, as in most Xiaomi phones have another name for models in China. Usually also called a Redmi. I think you should check out Vivo, Oppo and Realme, as these three are the other brands that may also need a bit of reviewing, among the androids available. I hardly hear people using Lenovo and Asus for astrophotography at the moment, so you may skip those. 🤣
can i do astrophotography with oppo a77s?
I lost it when he said pata nahi and genda fool 🤣🤣
Wow, I hadn't imagined images could be that good. I think I need to persuade my wife to lend me her Pixel.
I enjoyed taking astro photos with my Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro with the pro mode on the camera, and stacking the images. Now I have a Pixel 7 Pro because I'd heard good things about the astro capabilities, but the lack of pro mode on the camera, and the limitation of only being able to do 8 sec exposures, has made me very disappointed in it. Will go back to Xiaomi next time I upgrade my phone
I have a Google Pixel 6 Pro, and just a 6 second exposure reveals most of the stars in the pleiades already.
How do you not get a star track in long multiple exposures?
The software aligns the stars before stacking them
@@AlynWallace wow finally I have a sole for my headache-causing problem. Time for me to get my own pics. Thanks man
8:07 i can’t believe this was taken from a smartphone
mind boggling!
Did you hear to return your Asus Duo laptop? I recognize that dell XPS a mile away!
Have to *
No it's at home. Travelling with the Dell
come onnnnnnnnnn😍😍😍😍😍
It's frustrating to take pictures of the moon with the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, as you are always conscious of how much better the moon looks than anything else at the same zoom level when you're using the automatic AI mode.
Shooting the moon in pro mode, even with a tripod, results in a picture with half the detail.
Other than that, am really aching to do some more astrophotography after seeing this!
Sir, when you make next part of this video 🥺🥺🥺
What do you mean?
Means When You Upload Next Part of this video.
banger
When you started talking Turkish , I thought my brain is glitching 😆
When did I speak Turkish? Şaka şaka delirme 🤣
@@AlynWallace Hahaha 🤣🤣 Delirmiyorum sakinim, aksanin muthis bu arada.
Thanks for reminding you that you can take pictures with a larger ISO than 500 with your phone.
