Bird's-eye view of storm surge in Crystal River following Hurricane Idalia

- Hurricane Idalia officially made landfall Wednesday morning along Florida's Big Bend near Keaton Beach.
Idalia is packing winds of 125 mph near the Florida Panhandle and into the Big Bend region.
Outer rainbands continue to push their way into the Tampa Bay region. Life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force wind and isolated tornadoes are likely for portions of the Florida Gulf Coast.

50 to 100 years from now, all of those beautiful homes are going to memories.
That sounds optimistic
Maybe far less. Its hitting faster then expected. Wildfires are adding massive amounts of Co2 .
@@10khz97 yes. I would guess 10 too 20 tops.
Sad to see this for everyone living in the Area! Sending love from Pensacola. ❤
My favorite movie 🎥🎬👍👍👍 nice handle, I remember riding my motorcycle from Tampa to Crystal River on highway 19, it always floods West of that state road , that was a 1981 , Florida was lots of fun ♥️✝️🙏 praying for those that were systemically evacuated ‼️
Hope my friends and family down Florida way are all safe.
After floods in Florida sadly comes a lot of mold. I saw this when I lived in FL for 20 years especially after cat 5 hurricane Charlie.
Don't forget about Wilma.
I work in gardening. Everything is going mold .mildew in ny. It will hit heavy.
The insurance problem will just get worst. Florida may not be livable if they keep getting storm damage. Maybe a small mobile home easily moved .
For some reason I really want to go to Bubbaques.
Wow hope everyone will be ok
Where's FEMA ❓❓❓ on vacation in Hawaii sleeping in Luxury hotels, ‼️
All the best too the family's in Florida✝️🕊️.Sad too see what you are going through.God bless everyone all your days ✝️🕊️🇺🇸
When you live on a swamp
Yep. You live in a swamp, you live near a volcano, you live on a fault line, you live in tornado prone areas, you live where a meteor might fall. What's your point?
@@hughjass1835interesting I've never heard of tornado, meteor, or volcano insurance
You've never heard of hurricane insurance either, Dumdum
@@hughjass1835I'm sorry, no. What is this nonsense?
We have a lot of investment in volcano monitoring. Scientists risk their lives to monitor volcanoes in Indonesia and other places with active volcanoes. Meanwhile, the Republican party policy is to make hurricanes worse because muh oil profit.
Plus, homes in lava zones on the Big Island of Hawaii do not get cushy volcano insurance subsidized by the nonvolcano customers. Floridians are subsidized in such a manner.
Tornadoes are much harder to forecast and don't cover nearly the area hurricanes do.
Places with earthquakes like Japan and California have pesky things called "building codes" and "regulations" that actually attempt to prevent damage from earthquakes. Florida keeps building the same flimsy cheap houses OVER and OVER again. There are designs and materials that can stand hurricanes (circular walls, reinforced concrete, fewer windows) but Florida chooses to not require them because they know FEMA will bail them out.
Meteors don't hit the earth in one spot. The Earth spins pretty fast and, I don't know if you know this, travels around the Sun at 67000mph. There isn't a meteor prone area because that's silly. Fun fact, most meteors hit the ocean because of course they do, the oceans cover most of earth.
Obviously this is the work of DEW run in reverse. Notice how some stuff is completely flooded and yet other stuff looks dry and they are right next to each other...like one at the top of a hill is dry and the other one at the bottom right next to it is dry...the government is obviously gonna use treadstone to purchase all this flooded land and make a 15 second city.
There probably is already some "communal" space like a wharehouse, gym, school, office building, shopping mall, zoo, bus stop, convenience store, McDs, houses, streets, lamp posts, stop signs, mail boxes or some other type of structure that is the early beginnings of the 15 second city.
Do you know how stupid you sound right now?
That WONT happen there. Anyone in the county who knows the area from Crystal River towards the Gulf is HIGHLY prone to flooding. It is a marsh land. Years ago before I left, it became illegal and unpermitted to build anything but a stilt home. I lived there 23 years and my friend owned a private island retreat down Ozello trail. You also stand a great chance of being uninsurable, he wasnt. They refused to.
Oh peleeez!!
Prays for each of you. I know what it mids to be in a hurricane 🌀 I do leave in Sebring and we got the eye from the hurricane from Irma and Ian😢😢😢. Stay strong and God Bless you.
Is Bubbaque’s still open though?

Welcome to planet earth, shit happens here
This is absolutely horrifying 😢😢 I lived in Florida, Lakeland, for 8 years. This IS EXACTLY WHY I LEFT!! Florida has had sooo many hurricanes with major destruction’s since around 2016. Homes are always damaged and the cost of insurance and property taxes have gone through the ROOF!!
Wouldn't be surprised at all if a hurricane hits the same exact spot next year.
I said that last year btw
@@rdallas81 neither would I
I left South Florida after 34 years, wasn't so much because of the storms, more about....well, not the place to be when SHTF, but every place is gonna suck. I remember when Obama, in his oh so special way, called preppers conspiracy theorist.

Should have cast that spell a few days ago, don't ya think?
You do know every person being affected this hurricane is absolutely aware of the consequences of living where they do.
I’m sure Biden is thinking of Florida right now😂
Biden don't know were he took his last shit little lone were Florida is at thanks Democrats for destroying America and all this inflation!!
Whoa.
The building code needs to change so people can build higher. Two story buildings maybe with no living area at the bottom?
There was no building code when many of these structures were built. They were just people that need houses and built them as best they could
Citrus county commissioners are very pro development and don't seem to care that more asphalt leaves no where for the water to go. It's low lying and the main north south highway is often too dangerous to drive at night. Many commercial buildings are empty. The big defunct mall is being turned into condos so more traffic.
How about just building where it Makes SENSE to build?? the coast is always toast, I am native to Florida and this is normal flooding zones that have been ignored for 50 or more years, you are foolish to believe otherwise.
@@Feribrat99You could theoretically build neighborhoods and houses to withstand hurricanes.
Circular houses, earth sheltered houses (think Hobbit), geodesic domes, elevation on concrete with a carport underneath.
Florida requires none of these because they know you and I will bail them out with FEMA dollars.
Besides, that sounds like centralized economic planning and that's socialism! The market can decide what houses are best, except it doesn't because the cheapest builder usually wins, not the highest quality.
My sister’s house in Crystal River is toast as well.
Just her house she left right. Homes are replaceable.❤
@@djdavisiscool oh yeah they left but some of their friends stayed behind. Everyone safe just flooded almost 4 feet
What a place to retire.
Florida is a sand bar that extends into the Atlantic Ocean and apparently the Govenor ran off all the Mexicans so who will rebuild?

Some dodged a bullet while others, not so much.
Wow

This ist bad you can still see the houses hkw about harvey that was scary bad
Key west here. Seeing this is horrifying. Im upset for those who lost their homes. Key west didn’t get hit much from Ian or Idalia and im grateful but soon Florida and the keys are going to be under water. Maybe in less than 60 years…
Yep u live on costal area don't be surprised
Insurance companies don't have to worry about flooding!!!! They got on their boats and got the heck on out of there LOL

W😎 W , what a friggin mess beyond belief ‼️
Dude, water does not have to be over the roof to cause severe damage and devastation. What a stupid thing to say. Most people survive a hurricane. With the heat and humidity, there's already mold there before the water even recedes.

Not below sea level! It's called Storm Surge! And we had warnings that it could be about 7' in that area.
Which means that the water goes 7' ABOVE it's normal level.
