  • Hurricane Idalia officially made landfall Wednesday morning along Florida's Big Bend near Keaton Beach.
    Idalia is packing winds of 125 mph near the Florida Panhandle and into the Big Bend region.
    Outer rainbands continue to push their way into the Tampa Bay region. Life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force wind and isolated tornadoes are likely for portions of the Florida Gulf Coast.

    • @TheHauntedKiwi
      @TheHauntedKiwi Před 10 měsíci

      @@hughjass1835I'm sorry, no. What is this nonsense?
      We have a lot of investment in volcano monitoring. Scientists risk their lives to monitor volcanoes in Indonesia and other places with active volcanoes. Meanwhile, the Republican party policy is to make hurricanes worse because muh oil profit.
      Plus, homes in lava zones on the Big Island of Hawaii do not get cushy volcano insurance subsidized by the nonvolcano customers. Floridians are subsidized in such a manner.
      Tornadoes are much harder to forecast and don't cover nearly the area hurricanes do.
      Places with earthquakes like Japan and California have pesky things called "building codes" and "regulations" that actually attempt to prevent damage from earthquakes. Florida keeps building the same flimsy cheap houses OVER and OVER again. There are designs and materials that can stand hurricanes (circular walls, reinforced concrete, fewer windows) but Florida chooses to not require them because they know FEMA will bail them out.
      Meteors don't hit the earth in one spot. The Earth spins pretty fast and, I don't know if you know this, travels around the Sun at 67000mph. There isn't a meteor prone area because that's silly. Fun fact, most meteors hit the ocean because of course they do, the oceans cover most of earth.

    Obviously this is the work of DEW run in reverse. Notice how some stuff is completely flooded and yet other stuff looks dry and they are right next to each other...like one at the top of a hill is dry and the other one at the bottom right next to it is dry...the government is obviously gonna use treadstone to purchase all this flooded land and make a 15 second city.
    There probably is already some "communal" space like a wharehouse, gym, school, office building, shopping mall, zoo, bus stop, convenience store, McDs, houses, streets, lamp posts, stop signs, mail boxes or some other type of structure that is the early beginnings of the 15 second city.

      That WONT happen there. Anyone in the county who knows the area from Crystal River towards the Gulf is HIGHLY prone to flooding. It is a marsh land. Years ago before I left, it became illegal and unpermitted to build anything but a stilt home. I lived there 23 years and my friend owned a private island retreat down Ozello trail. You also stand a great chance of being uninsurable, he wasnt. They refused to.

    • @TheHauntedKiwi

      @@Feribrat99You could theoretically build neighborhoods and houses to withstand hurricanes.
      Circular houses, earth sheltered houses (think Hobbit), geodesic domes, elevation on concrete with a carport underneath.
      Florida requires none of these because they know you and I will bail them out with FEMA dollars.
      Besides, that sounds like centralized economic planning and that's socialism! The market can decide what houses are best, except it doesn't because the cheapest builder usually wins, not the highest quality.
