      Omg yayayay that's so exciting!! My main advice would be to just focus as much as you can on your exchange and don't worry about your life back home or other people who are also on exchange. Don't compare your experience to anybody else's and don't compare Japan to back home :) And go for literally every opportunity that comes your way!! Get out as much as you can and talk to people as much as you can x If you ever have questions feel free to ask

    I just want to tell you how inspiring you are. You seem to be my age, or maybe a year older, and seeing someone as young s me do something this big is so cool. Next year, I'm going on an exchange to Japan myself, and even though I'm really excited, I'm also terrified. I am so scared that my Japanese won't be good enough, or that I won't make friends, or be able to read Kanji AT ALL. I stumbled across your channel whilst doing research, and I am so happy now. I'm also form Sydney, and seeing you, a girl that I can relate to, has inspired me to push myself, and try to cram as much knowledge on the language as possible. Thank you so much.

      @Vickstargirl  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey!! Omg yay that's so exciting!! I went for 2 months and my biggest tip would probably be to focus on your exchange and don't compare it to other people's exchanges! That was one of the biggest problems for me - when I had rough times I would wish so bad that I could have the same experience as my fellow exchange go-ers. But in the end I realised I learned so much from my exchange in a super different way to my friends so it was worth it :) Good luck!! You'll have an amazing time for sure x

    Guessing by your accent, you must be aussie. Same here. I don't know on how big of a scale it is but a lot of schools (including mine) in my area have hosted japanese students for a while. I only got to host for a few days because they were going to visit a top school in perth for a majority of their troop but it was so fun. I'm going to be visiting Japan with my class at the end of the year for a couple weeks and so I've been really interested in these exchange videos. It's not an exchange but still should be very fun.

    • @Vickstargirl
      @Vickstargirl  Před 6 lety +1

      Don't be afraid at all!! I had a basic level of Japanese but when I got there I pretty much understood nothing 😂regardless of your level, you'll pick up the language relatively quickly and your Japanese skills will improve so much. The more you know, the more you'll learn so try to learn a few simple things before you go (maybe also hiragana and katakana) but apart from that you should be sweet xx
