I have lived through 60’s ,70’s,80’s 90’s and up to date a world of dance music from rock to Motown but every generation has its excellence,a genius this was his time so glad I went to them clubs way past my dancing years but hey I can still boogie!😀
I was 15 years old 1991.Coming from a Vinea sailing vacation, waking up in a night train with a low sun shining on the city when it was entering Paris. I tuned in on a local FM broadcast on my walkman and this song came by. It was the most beatifull moment I had. And the whole world still in front of me..
1991, REDZONE, NYC, David Morales DJing...When this track came out, he'd play this as the very last song of the night, 4AM, and we'd stay all night long, till the very end, place nearly empty, JUST to hear this on that phenomenal sound system and soak it all in. An unreal experience, I'll never forget it. If you were privileged enough to experience the club scene in NYC in the 90's, respect. It can never be duplicated. I'm still whistling all these years later.
This song is all about appreciating what’s right in front of you, at every moment. So many beautiful nights that turned into glorious mornings, involved this track. Even today, this song wipes away the dread and fills me with hope.
Nothing like being in the club in Chicago when Frankie was spinning. Being a teenager in the 80's was superb. All the original house DJ's plus being a Medusa's kid. ❤
ICONIC DANCE CLASSIC !!!!! - I GOT THE HONOR TO MEET FRANKIE KNUCKLES FROM MY NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE WEST VILLAGE, NEW YORK CITY BACK IN THE 1980S - THE 1990S !!!! - WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PERSON INSIDE AND OUT !!!! - A FABULOUS DJ HE WAS AND A GREAT FRIEND OF MY MINE TOO !!! - RIP FRANKIE KNUCKLES
This song is brilliant. It goes into the realm of timeless truth. It has the aroma of the absolute. A world beyond form. It is as if it dropped from celestial space. It carries the majesty and beauty of eternity, which we all carry within us. Thank you Frankie Knuckles.
I was in The Netherlands in the 80s and 90s, Club Roxy was beginning to do some house music. In the ending of the 80s, I was in Chicago (The Warehouse) and had the opportunity to speak with Frenkie Knuckles, around those years the English “Fun Club” was coming to Amsterdam to organize raves, they were banned in London and were coming to rave in Amsterdam, I was there with a lot of English house fans, we begin organizing raves in the Netherlands with a big PA system under the name “The Party Syndicate” in “The Sleep In” in Amsterdam, Tivoli in Utrecht, Veemarkthallen in Utrecht etc. It was between the 80s and 90s voguers where performing at rave parties and there was a positive energetic pioneering vibe and this all was in my opinion started by the legendary Frenkie Knuckles. The rest of the house evolution is history… Do you remember some of those days? Tell me and please comment ;)
When I first fell in LOVE with house. Shelter 1992 NYC those were the best times of my dancing days. Bring those days back. Spending mornings at the club and eating granola and yogurt. Love NYC for that. We had a bit everything. We we're just dancers back then. RIP Frankie Knuckles. We Love you brother.
My Dad died the year this came out....This is the first house record I ever bought...I can remember where i was and how i felt - how this track made me feel- the first time I heard it.
I remember the first time I heard this, it was the night Frankie debuted it at the original Sound Factory on 27th, I had been living in NYc for about 6 months, hard town with no sign of much compassion for the fellow human being. Yet on this night the yellow lights washed the crowd which was made up of all walks of life, from ultra rich to ultra poor, black & white and every colour in between of the human race along with all types of beliefs were present under one groove. Suddenly this track hit and I witnessed 2000 instant smiles light up the room with utter bliss, no fighting, no hate, just LOVE and grooveynesss!! Thank you Frankie, R.I.P.!!!!
Couldnt say it any better...i am 41 now btw i experience the whole scene by taking the staten island ferry to manhattan on weekends to hit up the clubs...wow time flies
Yes indeed. A close friend in DC surprised my partner & I with tickets to a mega session featuring Frankie Knuckles when this groove was released. We met him, and it was magical. We actually danced til the "break of dawn".
It was a joy seeing Frankie Knuckles included in the music section of the African American Museum in Washington D.C. This song was playing in my head when I saw that.
@elaineneilhutchinson8240 i was a 19 yr old aussie kid doing the same in London. It was an incredible cultural explosion. The freedom in that time... meeting people from everywhere was so much fun. RIP Frankie thanks for the memories...oh man
wtf this is the first time I’ve heard this song, genius song. The feeling I get is appreciation for this moment. I imagine people dancing, we are on top of a mountain somewhere in South America and it’s getting dark, you see the sunset. And you see the beauty of the world. Like wow. I’m really living right now.
Goodbye sweet prince! The night you reached over the console at 177 Townsend, took my hands and smiled at me so sweetly, not only did i start sobbing like a little girl, I at that moment learned the true magic of house to transform lives. truefax
Too many good memories with this song as a kid. I'm only 27 but I remember watching my folks get down to house music and I certainly remember going bonkers when I heard this song as a tike. This song brings me back to the good'ol days when I used to be in the L.E.S and watch my folks and their friends groove to Frankie Knuckles during the summer nights in the street or during the winter in a crowded living room floor.

I was on holiday in New York from London when this was out & The Sound Factory was THE club to go to. An amazing space, the sound system was incredible & the music was totally brilliant of course with Frankie Knuckles on the decks. I'm so glad I experienced dancing to this there. You all would have loved this man in person.. this brings back so many beautiful memories of bartending in Chicago at that time.. what an amazing time it was.
Have a great memory of hearing Frankie open his set with this at a big beach party in Dubai a year or two before he died. I was so happy to see him play live for the first time. Sadly the idiotic promoters put him on first. This legend of a man was basically a warm up for acts that weren't fit to grace the same stage as him. I guess that's Dubai for you. Totally clueless about the history of house and the people who shaped it. House music isn't the same without him but he left us some great tunes.
oh my God ! I was 24 and a friend gave me a cassette with this song on it. I listened to it over and over on my Walkman. so many memories from that time. Thank you and R.I.P, Mr Knuckles, from France
A track that you can drive too and let go of our worries and enjoy the moments. When I was a kid in the early 90s all the older teenagers were listening to this music in the Summer on the radio and talk about the illegal raves in the country and brought tapes of raves back hone to watch them. It does not get better than this. When I hear this one, I stop thinking of all the troubles, problems and other negatives, and just sit back and chill. I love "The Whistle Song".
Amazing times. We knew how to have a good time Imagine being so concerned with your appearance that you never experienced dancing drenched in sweat! That’s without a drug Happy times 😊

Music can send us to our past like time machine...
Yasss🙌🏾soo sorry bout your dad! But this track brings joy everytime!
Frankie Knuckles

4 Years later... STILL reminiscing... Thank you and RIP Frankie Knuckles
This song makes me cry for some reason
It does not get better than this. When I hear this one, I stop thinking of all the troubles, problems and other negatives, and just sit back and chill. I love "The Whistle Song".
