Kokushibu has to break the curse in order to win though becuase muzan can just do something to his cells with his blood and kill him (in season 2 episode 1 muzan did this to akaza)

Instead of absorbing demons, the lower moon, he stupidly killed them - and as we remember, after absorbing demons, he receives their power, demonic blood. If he had swallowed the same demon with a portal into the dark water, then he would have mastered it and it would have been a convenient force, he could easily hide from the sun with it, and so on. There's still a lot I haven't said.
