That funny cars looks similar to the one I had in the 90's/early 2k's ...
I have 3 Hotwheels Cobras hand signed by Carroll Shelby. what are they worth? still in original unopened packaging. I have a photo of Carroll and I sitting together. I'm holding the cars and he's holding the pen.
Great info! Thanks!
I remember I had this car. I smashed it with a hammer when I was 8
I think I caught mine on fire a few times lol
I wonder if the some of people commenting actually paid attention when they watched the video? Maybe they had the volume turned down lol
Great video, I love watching them!
Back in the 90s hotwheels collectors were purchasing treasure hunt sets from stores and they were removing the cars and replacing them and then they took the sets back to the store to get their money back.Despicable.
Yes there were! I ordered a 95 Treasure Hunt set from JC Penny and when I got it, all the cars were common 95 Mainline cars that someone switched out.... :(
Why bother taking them back? They were less than a dollar.
Because the set was $300. They took the cars, replaced them with 12- $1 regular release cars and kept what is now worth $1500 in cars. That's why they took them back.
I imagine there's a bunch of cars like these sitting in storage, among some never before seen hot wheels, just for a retired employees grandchild to inherit in the next decade. That would make sense of the model number discrepancy. I know a few brands that do that for "friends and family"
I thought I had The 271 Funny Car but used your Hot Wheels Field Guide Book and found out I had the 277 card. Oh well. Still AWESOME!!!!! LOVE you wallpaper!!!!! Ha Ha Ha. Thanks for sharing Mr Zarnock!!!!! You are the encyclopedia of Hot Wheels!!!!!
I being rebuilding my collection since 1998, I lost my first one in a really bad flood that happened in my home town in 1997 but since I being getting hot wheels I founded that many of my cars they do have the logo but and went their where made, but no name or year just say what kind, how can identify all of my cars??
Your best bet is to get any of the Collector Guides that are out there. Most have the castings listed. Good luck!
It makes me ill the money I wasted when I got rid of my cars, and I had this one darn it.
I know for a fact that I have this. Well sort of. When I first got into collecting Hot Wheels back in the mid 90's, this is one that I had. I still have the car. Like I said, sort of. Not too long ago I went through a divorce and some of my cars and cards got ruined. I won't say how or who did it but it was her fault. 271 is one of the ones I had. The card got torn so I took it out of the package and added the car to my display case. Now, I just have a cheap car. That sucks.
My nephew ripped my dads opened and played with it. He did the same thing, put it in his display case. BUMMER I know how you feel
i grew up in the 60's and 70's between my brother and myself no telling how many we had. but we played with ours when i sold moms house. u[ stairs in one of the toy boxs were some wore out hot wheels and full size gi joe doll and the hq and space ship and other big toys that went with em. if i had new they would be worth i would of put them up and not played with them. but heck i was a kid and they were toys so i played with them outside. took care of my toys are would not get any more but they were to play with not put up.
I don't get what you mean
That's some costly cardboard.
Yes it is!
@@HotWheelsTV aha yep
I have this car sitting in a box in my garage along with a couple thousand other hot wheels. Bought it at k-bees in the old mall before they demolished it. I stopped collecting back in 2008. I have 4 cases of my original redlines up in my bedroom. But I have all my carded stuff in boxes in my garage. I have this #271. I know because I used to have it displayed next to a Barbie car that is a simile casting. May have to revisit my garage.
Pretty sure my Dad has one of these. Pretty sure he has a lot of rarer and more valuable Hot Wheels and the Lesney (original) Matchbox cars.
This comments section is one of the best I've read for a while 😆
What a patient guy, politely replying to people over & over that ask what their loose one is worth or claiming to have one.
I wonder if any genuine #271's or fakes were actually found as a result of this video?
This guy know the deal, if he says to much then scammers will get that feedback to make em more real.
I swear half the comments are: "I have is car loose is it still worth the money" Did you even watch the video if its loose its not worth the $3,500 its worth around 20-ish dollers or atleast thats the most i can picture a collector paying and its not worth $3,500 if its packaged but not numberded 271 so stop asking :(
Thank you! You can't imagine how many emails I get asking that same question!
oh boy people are emailing you too! sounds like a nightmere, i mean i get the logic they all hope theres some sorta loophole to get them $3,500, its like a get rich quick scam but backwards lol
👁 HAVE 1 ???? NOBODY HAS ASKD YET MY FRIEND BUT 👁 HAVE 2 W/ OUT THE KARD 🤔🤔🤔🤔 R THEY WORTH ALOT 🤣😂🤣😂.... I'M KIDN MY FRIEND HALF THE KOMMENTS HERE R ALMOST THE SAME 😲😲😲😲
I started out with a McDonald's promo Fire Bird funny car in the 80's. I have a few of the Blue funny cars but am pretty sure they're 277s.
To think i had almost every hot wheels car from early 70's through mid 80's. Got rid of them when i was in my teens not knowing one day they would be worth so much. Same with original stars wars! If we only knew back then.
Exactly! But if we all still had them, they would pretty much have no value. We're all trying to buy back our childhood now! Thanx for watching!
Rob Halfmann I had almost every hot wheels. I bought one a week with my grandma did the same thing in my teens.
in 1978 i saw a vision of my older self stepping through a portal and telling me to not open ANY toys but save them, and to buy apple stock. i chocked it all up to a bad dream :(
If we only knew.....
I have one of these cars loose. I just bought your 1998-2008 book today, and we saw that and my brother said we have that! We were really sad because we felt as though we destroyed $3500. It is possible we were but it is also possible we were playing with #277.
Mike, I know this video is rather old, but is the TTP site still active? And if so, what is the actual website. I am a potential buyer for one of these. Thanks!
Drop me an email Brad. I do have a couple others looking for one also, but finding a real one for sale is hard.
Great videos! Very informative. Thank you!!
Welcome!
Hey thanks for the video, I've just come in contact with probably 2000 hot wheel and matchbox cars, I've been going through some of them and I've already found some good ones worth a little money, I will keep watching your videos, the only bad thing is there mostly lose
Videos 9 yrs old almost a decade
Damn bro, I think I actually had that when I was a kid.
Justin H. DUDE..... Search for it and sell it to me!!! my cousin had one and gave it away and few years later finds out it worth 3500
Thanks! You literally answered every question I had. I have the #277 but mine is turned sideways with the Chevy emblem on it! Just picked it up in the race team series that says it’s the “Side-Splitter”. Cool find!
I have a side splitter that my grandfather gave me.
I wish my card didn't go missing I could of bought the apple exclusives with the money
That's funny....
Hey Mike I bought a redline white enamel camaro how do I tell if it's authentic can I look at the numbers on the hood? Thank You.
I have this car, and now I know what I have !!! Thank you LORD!!!
If you mean 277, yes! It's the same car, just different package.
What is the difference between the #130 2004 Ferrari Heat 456M silver wheels and gold wheels? Mine has gold. Thank you for your time !
Just a variation...
Nice job explaining this one, Mike! Great vid. ~Neal
Yes Mike is the real deal!!! The master of hot wheels!!!
I have, but it's opened
I remember that funny car lol
I have a 57 Chevy in my hand right now and here's the kick its in red and yellow with blue tinted windows now I know it's rare but I would like to know how much
And it only has a few nick but it is out the package and I don't have the package
All depends on when it was made. Best bet is to find a guide with photos.
I DO have a 271. I have an extensive collection of mint condition cars. I have a lot of Zamac, variations, toy fair and convention, Autographed cars. I was lucky to inherit it. So I'm not sure why you commented that I don't have one. It's one of the very few cars I have that's not in the package as I stated in my first comment. But when I look up eBay the cars that I have they sell for quite a lot of money. I sold a holiday bus that was given to employees of the factory that made them for $2800.02 days ago on eBay. I'm thinking I might sell the rest of them. So I'm sorry you don't believe that I wanted to 271. It's not worth anything out of the package. But most of my other cars are worth a pretty penny
If you have a carded 271, then you have a 271 valued at $3500.... If you take it out of the 271 package, you have a .50 loose car. IT'S THE CARD THAT HOLDS THE VALUE, NOT THE CAR!
I UNDERSTAND THAT. My nephew ripped the card in the early 2000's and was found playing with it. As I stated it is out of the package. My dad still talks about it and threatened to take it out of my brothers share of inheritance. I know it's worth nothing now. I KNOW ITS THE CARD THAT HOLDS THE VALUE. Except for that cat every one I own is MINT CONDITION. I was just saying I have the car that WAS in the package kind of like... what a bummer.... type of thing. I inherited an EXTENSIVE collection and have made almost 10,000 on jus 3 cars in just 2 weeks. I have many more to go. Thank you though for your repeated input.
Not cat.... car. But I wonder what my cat is worth. Hmmmmm
HAHAHAHHA
Thank you for the reply.
I know that the packaging has the value, but then again the car I have does not match any picture I've seen of the model we are discussing.
I read a forum or post about what makes a hot wheels car rare.
The answer was mistakes. I do believe the car I own has a mistake. I could have uploaded a picture but currently my camera is broken.
Someone like yourself, should start a registry for cars like this
I do have a registry of all those known, where they came from, every time they are sold and to whom they are sold to along with how much they sold for.
@HotWheelsTV it's been 11 years, how has the list grown and/or moved around in that time? Any new information to add to what's in the video? Thanks Mike.
Thank you!
Dang it I have one but it's collector is 277 not 271
it sucks when you own one but you opened it up as a kid...
again is a nice hotwheels collector MIKE
When you have the car but not the packaging.
I have only cheap ones , I think. Lots of them are hanging in my hobby room. I love them all and would never sale anyone, except changing them with my friends. Moneymaking with these cars doesn't interrest me.
New subscriber here! Awesome video. Would love to see your famous collection someday!
How do you know if you have one if it's open not in the pack
As I explained in the video.... It was released in many other packages. It's the 271 Card that holds the value, not the car.
There were 271 made. 144 in the USA. 😁
Yes... It's said 144-288. Nobody at Mattel can confirm the number.
I have that its scratch up though
I have a car that looks the same from 1994 But mine has RACE TEAM SERIES on it. So is this still same thing?
No.....
I have one but I opened it in the 271 card I found one at a local store for antices for 2.99
Great video and very interesting
WOW!!! So much views!!! LIKE
@emccurnin there was no production gold Beach Bomb. There was a pre-production gold "Rear-Loader" Beach Bomb. The gold Rear-Loader is worth about 15K to 18K
I have a 271 funny car that I've had since I was a kid. But as a kid I took it out of the package to play with and forgot about it. Last time I saw it it was about a year ago, parked with the rest of my early 80's-90's HW in a tote box all organized. Wondering what it's valued at?
The car by itself is worthless.... It's the package that is rare!
😂🤣😂
I think I have one.
I’ll have to open all my boxes.
I will check for the 271.
Nope. I have #509
Nothing is special about the packaging itself, Sam. It's the fact that there were probably no more than 288 made and only 20 or so are known to be in the hands of collectors...
If you have one but it’s opened and been played with for years would it be worth anything? Or I’m guessing you’d never know without the packaging
Even if it was in mint condition, it's basically worthless. It's that package that holds the value.
@@HotWheelsTV no if it is actually the car from the package they are still of value because they are not all made I identical one big difference is the way the body is made on the rear end of the car so yes the original car out of the pack have a number of u lift the body up it serves same purpose as a vin number to also identify if it is fake
@@missycountrygirl2918 it's the package, not the car. It's the package that the collector needs to complete their "Collector Number Packages" collection #271..The car was produced by the 100's of thousands the same way... Honest...
I have some original redline Hot Wheels I also have the Hot Wheels track unopened with a red line Hot wheel car and it
If you are interested in selling them, please contact me.
When I was a kid I wanted to collect so I didn't open a lot of "cool" ones that I got. This was one of them..... But then I grew up and I just put them into a box at my moms for kids to play with when they visit.... and opened it :'(. A few thousand is not worth more then the amount of fun kids can have with them but still unfortunate lol
Though I cannot be sure if it was a remake / similar or something, don't really matter now anyway lol
Absolutely! It's all about the fun!
I was down to needing #271 and #51 in order to complete all of the Collector Numbers. I now collect pinball machines...
I just stumbled upon your channel, and I'm loving your content! Not sure if you'd be interested to know but, RLC Gulf Porsche 993 GT2 #1,743 is officially off the market for the remainder of my lifetime! (I opened it and put it on display).
I bought a 2016 hotwheel that had a incorrect packaging. Has a Porsche 993 inside but a pick up truck packaging. Does factory mistakes make for future value?
No. There are many mistakes found all the time. There may be someone who collects that type of thing, but the value will not be significant enough to save for a later time.
NO. It must be in the 271 package. It's the package that demands the value, not the car.
I have that car in the exact package.I bought it at a hobby shop in westpoint NY about 15 years ago. I will try and send you an email.
I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH SOMEONE CAN SAY I GAVE YOU 1 million I still say No!"
I hear ya! I have a few people with cash in their hands $3500-4000 for one and I can't get anyone to sell one!
I use to have that car when I was little I had a blue one a pink one and a green one
I had most of the early Hot Wheels, but I Still have ALL my Hot Wheels Sizzler Cars with the charger.
I'd like to see pictures...
Do you still race your Sizzlers? There are a lot of people that do!
Hot Wheels TV.....no they have been boxed up and in the attic for 43 years .
I have a pictures of the real one, i bought without the package and i bought the race team series, the car has differences too
If it’s loose it’s not real
I have a 40s Woody I am wondering if it is real and how much it is worth
How good is the card?
I just found out I have this and I almost passed out mine partially broken tho
If it’s loose it’s not worth anything
Saw a guy on Facebook trying to sell just the car in rough shape for $1000 haha which lead me to this video!
Glad you found out what it's worth!
Sucks it’s not worth anything without the packaging I have just the car in pristine condition 😂
Yeah, I hear ya.... I have a few that are mint too!
Same
How much could they go for without the packaging?
Fidel Jaramillo 😂🤣😂
Thanks Brother ...
I have this car ...fairly good condition but no card with it..i found it in a goodwill
I have the same car without the Box
I have it too. Guess it’s not worth much cause no package.
It has to be the same exact car "STILL" in the 271 package. If it is out of the package, it has no value! It's the package that has the value, not the car.
Got the 271 you have right there in the blister actually got all 4 of the racing series..question is do you have any links to collectors price guild? been collecting since early 80s.
The one you have is collector 277, not 271. Go to www.MikeZarnock.com/store.html for price guides.
Beautiful funny car 271 congratulations
I would like to think so, but there are a lot of things out there. It all has to do with the "Supply and Demand" thing. If there are a lot of them out there and nobody wants them, they will have no value.
I have a large collection that my dad started from miss packed cars to special editions would like to know how much some thinks are worth
thanks mike for the video...now i have 5 limited edition hotwheels that's over 10 years old ,still in it's original packaging, just wanna know the value of it...thanks.
I have that Style open but in great Condition with 1977 on the Bottom . Not sure of the card # as it's been years ago when it was opened .
Yeah i have that also. I played with mine as a kid. Its all scratched up.
It is only worth a few dollars if it is not in the blister of a #271 Blue Card. The car was issued in 5pks and other series too. It must be in the blue card or it's worthless. I have 5 yellow woodies like blue card #51, all loose, all worthless. I can't prove any were ever in a #51 blue card.
The 1977 on the bottom is the date when that casting was patented by Hot Wheels. It could of been produced 40 years later, in 2017, and still have 1977 stamped on the bottom. If it was made prior to 1983, it will say "Made in Hong Kong" or "U.S. & foreign patents pending". If it's made in Malaysia, China or Thailand, it was made after 1982.
I've got a box full of unopened hot wheels that's are all like 13 or 14 years old. I need to find out if there worth anything.
There are lot's of Guides out there that can steer you in a good direction. Or you can look to see what they have sold for on eBay.
That auction was over a year ago....
Yeah that's COOL how he has it!!!!!
Hi sir what is very special with that package further explanation please.......
sweet, should look out for that one . sweet vid too!
lol, i remeber having one of those as a kid.... too bad it met a tragic death at the wrong end of a hammer
Yup, many of my Redlines met with the same demise.
Great info, so the card is what makes it worth money, one day, maybe, lol
Yup!
Anyone who pays thousands of dollars for a hot wheels car because of the packaging needs their bumps read!
I actually hate the blister pack packaging! Wish hot wheels sold them in a box like matchbox used to!
Nice video!
I love blue cards. They absolutely rock.
+Pawel Kolodziejczyk Yes they do!
+Hot Wheels TV I was wondering if you can authenticate a hotwheels car. My belief is that it's a prototype. You should also check out south Texas diecast cars
+Pawel Kolodziejczyk Yes, I do authenticate cars and packaging. Send me an email at MikeZarnock@aol.com and we can go over how to do it and the cost.
+G cater PLEASE WATCH AND LISTEN TO THE VIDEO.....
The car yes, but not on the 271 card.
Only one I seen come up, he was asking $7500 claimed to have a COA from you. I never seen the COA though.
Wow... I did do one while in Los Angeles last October, maybe that was the one?
Great Vid!
I got one when I Worked at Mattel in the model shop in the 90s , I believe I bought it in the toy store at the big building....but I took it out so I could put it in my display box . That's what happens I guess.
Oh no.......!
@@HotWheelsTV its cool I have a bunch of rare employee hot wheels because my mother also worked at Mattel for the Barbie department and after she retired she gave me all her MEA boxed HotWheels
I have one too
can someone explain what the numbers in a fraction on the package mean? for example 9/10? 10/10?
That means that the car is number 9 of 10 cars in the series.
I have this car where can I sell it
I will buy it. Please email me with photos of the package front and back.
Same but its loose
Sorry.... no value loose.....
@@HotWheelsTV thx for letting me know I almost set up an eBay account lol
I definitely have this stupid car lol. Actually a few of them. They came in sets. Wish i had the card. Id love to have it in the collection.
