    You can connect feeders to any section of Fastrack, just bend the tabs up on the bottom to keep from melting the plastic, solder the wires on, and bend the tabs back down. For what this track costs, there should be zero problems!

      thanks for the kind words! those smaller pieces always seem to be the trouble makers 😂

  • @293awesome
    @293awesome Před 10 měsíci +2

    I’ve found for many electrical issues with Fastrack, if you take needle nose pliers and bend the middle tongue inward slightly, on each section of track, then you’ll have a better electrical connection and don’t have to solder of the pieces.

      really?! I have not had that much of a problem. when I do try the bend, it always comes back at some time.

    Oscar I would like to see a video on how to keep your layout clean. Not just the tracks.

    • @oscarso-gaugetrains
      @oscarso-gaugetrains  Před 7 měsíci

      the only other things I clean are the buildings and cars. I use swifter wipes and a-tips. they do a GREAT job attracting dust. I don’t know if that would make a good video?

    I see you you use foam underneath how loud is FastTrack with trains running on it with your foam that you use?

    • @oscarso-gaugetrains
      @oscarso-gaugetrains  Před 8 měsíci +1

      any track that has a track bed will be louder than one without a track bed. I don't mind the noise. The foam gives me the ability to make something other than a flat surface e.g. ditch or small ponds.

  • @daivdwalker2374
    @daivdwalker2374 Před 8 měsíci

    Another guy says just solder a wire from 1 fast track straight piece to the next 1 and so on and so on can you show on a video where you would do that I'm still trying 2 decide which track 2 use

    Looks Great ! What software did you use to create and print your layouts?

  • @alanlubeski6452

    Do you fasten your Fastrack directly to the foam with screws, will the foam hold the track or do the screws go into the wood base?

    • @oscarso-gaugetrains
      @oscarso-gaugetrains  Před 26 dny

      because I glue down ballast on my layout, I’ve found that the screws have become obsolete. the glue holds the track with no problem, but if you choose to use screws I usually go through the foam into the base.

    Hi. Brand new to the hobby! Trying to wire a Lionel 24" illuminated covered bridge to a Fastrack set up. Product #683305. I'd like it to be "always on" when the train set is on. The bridge has two wires coming from it. I gather they can be connected to the middle and outside rail - but how do I do that? Thanks in advance!

    • @oscarso-gaugetrains
      @oscarso-gaugetrains  Před 8 měsíci

      very nice bridge! there are many ways to answer this question but my answer will have to align with best practices. the best way to handle this is to use a power supply accessory port. e.g. (CW-80) allows you to run items like that on a different circuit. I wouldn’t just connect it to the track, especially if you’re running your trains conventionally.

      Thank you for the reply! It has been fun getting back into model trains after stepping away for so many years. My new system is very basic - just off the shelf Lionel Christmas themed train. Stepping it up by adding a few accessories. Run by a remote control; powered by a wall outlet. No stand alone transformer. I will look into your suggestion - seems to make a lot of sense @@oscarso-gaugetrains
