Well done! The Turtles don't get nearly the acclaim they deserve as 1960's rockers. Volman and Kalen would be proud of your cover. "Elenore" was a great up-tempo ballad. Johnny Barbata really shined as a cutting edge drummer; so much so that he was poached several times by wealthier bands. People just did not believe that such a talented drummer could come out of a band like The Turtles. Your drummer in this video did a fine job. Had not John Lennon (one of my music idols) so nastily intimidated the bass player, while they were on tour in England, The Turtles could have continued as a six man band and had even more success. Impressive! Lady guitarist acquitted herself nicely. I would have paid money to see this band.
Slight correction: It was the rhythm guitarist, Jim Tucker, who was said to have been intimidated by John Lennon and left the group. Jim Tucker said he left due to the pressures of touring. Tucker went on to become an electrical contractor. The bassist, Jim Pons, stayed with the group until their dissolution. Jim Pons later re-joined with Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan and was part of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Jim Pons was on stage with Zappa and the Mothers at the Montreux Switzerland casino fire (that motivated Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water") and was also on stage a week later in London when a crazed "fan" jumped onto the stage and pushed Frank Zappa into the orchestra pit. With Zappa out of commission for an extended period, Jim Pons joined with Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan, and some of the other former Mothers to form Flo and Eddie. Pons left the music industry in 1973 and had a very successful career with the New York Jets football team as their film and video director.
