One never knows for sure what the best route to take with that roof but it sure looks cool when the roof is clean!

I'm making now a research about old car waxes, and it's cool to see that there are people who are using brands that were popular in the 90s 😊 How do you like compared to the modern popular waxes?
And btw, I don't know if it's a first wax after you took this GR brand new from the dealership, but if it was on roads already, washing it with Dawn is not enough ( for stripping old waxes better use acid car wash shampoos). Before polishing, but after strip wash, you need to make decontamination to avoid swirls and to remove contaminants from clear coat, otherwise you will just protect your paint with contaminants in it!

I have used Zaino for over 25 years continuously, I have never tried any more recent products because I have been totally pleased with how easy it is to apply, the shine and how well it lasts, so I don't know how it compared to others. I've had cars protected with Zaino that were 15 years old and the paint looked like new as a result. Sure you can take more steps to decontaminate the finish and use more aggressive soaps than Dawn but I have always been very pleased with using this process and there are absolutely no swirls or any other visible contaminants with this process.
I'm wondering why go through so much trouble for just wax? Why not use a modern Adam's Graphene Ceramic Spray, then Graphene Boost every 3-4 months? Even with dark colors, high spots really don't happen like with the 7-9 year ceramic coatings. The rear bumper cover looks funny on a GR, why not apply PPF there too?

On the front of the car for stone chips, PPF is the way to go, but on the bumper cover for a daily driver like mine, I don't think that PPF would give as much protection as the bumper cover protector, especially for scuffs. I don't think it looks funny, I quite like it.
I'm not sure I would want to polish a matte cf roof. I have seen some one who had theirs polished. I went with a satin ppf gave it a little more shine but not too much.
Personally, I was worried about the long term with going with ppf on the roof. If it ever needs to be removed would it damage the surface? The wax made it very slightly more shiny but I think provide the protection it should have. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
@@GaryTheCarNut I believe the installer said it might leave adhesive residue if needed to be removed. I just wanted to have as much protection as possible since if the roof were to crack it would cost 15-20K (according to Toyota's parts page) for a replacement. I would just have them put an aluminum one on instead of totaling the car.
I hope that since PPF has been around for more years they have gotten better and are not drying out or getting "crunchy". I have seen 3 scuffs from road debris and are very had to find them. I used a heat gun to massage them out it has helped.
If the roof was gloss then I would have no problem waxing or adding a ceramic coating. I have used some Dr Beasley's matte detail spray for added protection.
Luckily I now can park in a garage but also have an inflatable hail bubble just in case. After moving to CO I never realized how bad it can get.
Who uses Dawn anymore? I'm sorry that's 20 yrs ago. There is so much proper stuff out for that.
