The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. My dad lives in a healthy lifestyle, he’s had glasses since he was 51 years old and he has several spare glasses just in case something happens to them
Having a grandfather with dementia, this hits me so hard. If you ever see this or know someone who is going through this speak up and fight against this.
we people who have dementia are at the greatest risk of this kind of thing happening and there are people who do take advantage of us 😭😭
I would take a picture of the caregiver’s ID badge, then go to the retirement home where she works, ask to speak to the director of that retirement home and tell him/her everything

My grandma had dementia during the last 2 years of her life and I am so thankful that it did not get overly severe she still remembered her close family and friends. I am so glad that the care workers that came to help her were honest and kind people

My grandpa has dementia and can't really do much, if anything, for himself, and I love him with all my heart. If a caregiver ever did this to him, all hell would break loose, but the worst part would be that he wouldn't understand what was going on AT ALL

This was much harder to watch than I expected. I’m caregiver for a family member who has dementia and if I saw someone treating a care receiver like this, I would be calling to report elder abuse.

I’ve seen many episodes of WWYD, but this hits me in a way that no other episode has. My grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2012, and it was one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever experienced. At the end of his life, he didn’t even remember me, my mom, or my grandmother. I still miss him so much that some days it’s hard to deal with the thought that he’s not here anymore because the memory of him is still so fresh in my mind. People, always be gentle and kind to the elderly-so many are so vulnerable to situations like these. 💔

I was a home health aide in a memory care unit while my grandpa was in his battle with Lewy Bodies. I have seen people who are in it for the paycheck and it makes me sick. We need to take care of them and everyone ❤ My grandpa died on March 21st, I am glad to see his suffering is over.

Wrong they do because my art teacher in high School was in his mid-late 30's, he's got a nice Jeep, a solid looking Harley Davidson and a mustang GT. All look in good condition and relatively new. He himself has told some of his students; myself included, that most teachers make good money. That lots of teachers complain because in other countries Instructors make more on average. If you consider the amount of vacation time most Teachers receive (Summers off) it's no wonder they're not satisfied with their yearly income. They should just start working summers if they're that upset. I know that seemed like I hated teacher but that's not the case. As a matter of fact I actually got along fine with many of my high school Instructors. College professors not so much.

This actually happens a lot more than people know. I was sent to a private duty Alzheimer's case and the woman who had been taking care of her for a year had got her to sign all kinds of checks and charges to her account.
This one actually made me sad because this kinda stuff really does happen. But the last girl who is a caregiver is so awesome. ❤❤❤

this hits close to home, my grandfather was going through dementia and cancer and ended up passing away 😭 i hope no one ever has to go through this.
My grandpa is 84 years old and has been in great shape both physically and mentally(knock on wood), aside from a few falls. I’m super grateful that at his age he’s still capable of taking care of himself, and I tear up imagining him this helpless, neglected and taken advantage of.

This one hits hard I work at a nursing home . I can't even wrap my head around how someone could do this I would never. It's a privilege to work at a nursing home. I am honored to say that I work in a nursing home it's so hard but at the end of the day, It's worth it.I hope this is a lesson to all of you that if you don't like something especially Healthcare don't go into it it's not fair to the people you're taken care of.

Bill is played by an actor, but a senior actor who understands the perils in our society so I'm sure it struck very close to home for him just as it did for the customers. My mom was in a Medicare nursing home for the last years of her life out of necessity and this is a realistic scenario. There are those who are nice and honest, and many others who are dishonest, not into their job at all, and borderline abusive to their patients. It is horrific. This brought tears to my eyes.
This “episode” just breaks my heart because my grandpa had dementia and he died 1 year ago because he would forget he was hungry and he pretty much starved himself. He died of a heart attack. And Jezell is a good actor because she made me want to tear her apart!

@Kat Ballou We were there in the evenings because I had school and my mom had to work (so that was the only time that works for us), so he was with my grandma the rest of the time and he would always say he was fine until we gave him food and told him to eat it, and then the plate would be clean within 10 minutes (or less). We didn’t and still don’t have room in our house for anyone else (my house is a 1 story with 2 small bedrooms) and me, my mom, and my uncle were the only family members who would consistently go over and take care of them (I’ve got another Uncle, Aunt, and 4 cousins who could have helped if they wanted to but they didn’t because they are pretty self centered)
this is why my family takes care of my grandpa (he has Alzheimer's) we dont trust stranger's to take care of him i love my grandpa this reminded me alot of him he's 92 and still REALLY strong (he once slaped a nurse ;-;)

I worked in a senior care facility for a while and saw a whole lot of negligence and apathy from supposed caregivers.
One gentleman was left all night with his catheter hooked up into his IV all night and was rushed to the hospital the next morning, just as I was arriving to work.
I was told not to talk about it.
Call the people in your state and report it, nothing will probably be done, but do it anyway!!

I hate when people say they only stood up for someone just because they have someone in their family in the same situation.. you shouldnt need to know someone on the same situation to understand the situation and have empathy for it...
I wouldn’t consider myself directly affected, but my great grandma has serious and fast declining dementia, and my grandma (her daughter) would love this. Me and her are constantly worried whenever a care worker is really rude or yelling at my great grandma, confusing her like changing her schedule, not saying all care workers are like that, my time living there I met tons of hella nice workers that seemed to love what they do, but it shouldn’t have to be a concern when you applied for the job and get paid to. It’s like moms who think their kid _that they had_ is a burden.
Own up to your responsibility and realise you’re not the only human being living on this world hon ✨

Bill made me so sad....i actually cried. I know she was acting but if that actually happened in real life, I would kill who ever was taking advantage of a nice person. I loved everyone that stepped up and if this does happen, if you are the person being taken advantage of, you need to speak up, or ask for help. His voice made me so sad. I would love to be Bills caregiver; and unlike Jazelle, I would take care of him, and love him. I hope Bill had/has a good life. I would honestly love him like he is my grandfather.
