This is exactly how 2, single, 35-40 year old tradesman, brothers from Brooklyn of Italian descent, likely with no form of actual self defense or martial arts training, would act if they were thrusted into a life or death fist fight out of nowhere. They understood the assignment.
I love how ambiguous their relationship status is like, sure, peach has kissed Mario multiple times but they never really act as anything more than friends. she rejects him at the end of Odyssey, and leaves him with Bowser on the moon.

Yknow, i knew it was the Dream Team fighting stance idles but....i for some reason, still expected Super Star Saga's battle music lol. Really nice animations btw!
That theme made a cameo appearance as the battle theme in Paper jam before Paper Mario entered into the scene. And that game was before we got the remake for Superstar Saga.
Honestly one of the greatest aspects of the M&L games and something that other JRPGs could learn from is how expressive the characters are. Every single character has a goofy lil jig for combat and dialog. Characters emote a ton too and all have fun silly dialog sounds. While there's no voice acting in the game, the M&L games dont need VA when the characters are so expressive without VA

My guy, Dream Team is literally the most fan service amongst the Mario & Luigi games. A whole bunch of returning past characters and NPCs. Despite some flaws I'll gladly die on that same hill.
This was my favorite Mario rpg it represented Luigi more than Mario it had a AMAZING story I loved the mechanics and battles it was the ABSOLUTE best I wish the rpg series creators did not go bankrupt or whatever happened
This is a great test animation! If i were to say anything, i'd say maybe the moustache's bouncy follow through is a bit much, but everything else looks really good!

Wonder" we see plenty of personality and charm from Mario. I feel like the reason why many people such as yourself believe Mario has no personality is because we all just deem any personality traits that is a simile to nice or good as automatically 0% character and a blank slate. which I don't blame anyone because nowadays we have an influx of quirky, silly main characters but Mario is an OG.
