IM SO EXCITED!!! Owl House is definitely such a breath of fresh air that Disney needed for a long time! Also, fun fact! Dana Terrace, the creator, used to date Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls! They’re currently friends now though and they’ve always supported each other’s projects! You can hear Alex voice a ton of characters in this series, it’s great!

The entire main trio is so good. I love how King's voice is just Bill Cypher without the reverb, Eda's like a witch version of Grunkle Stan, (who it's heavily implied is one of her exes,) and Luz is one of the most relatable protagonists ever.

I relate to Luz a lot, but I still am not the biggest fan of her. But I am basically Luz in a lot of ways (bi, calls myself weird, adhd brain, magic obsessed, etc.)

Indeed The Owl House's villain is REALLY GOOD, extremely well written, charismatic and memorable, one of, if not the best, Disney villain ever made, hes one of my favorite villains of all time alongside Joker, Darth Vader and AM, but it will unfortunately take a while untill his first appearance, the end of season 1 to be more exact, no spoilers about him tho.
He is definitely unforgettable and gave the Horned King and Magnifico a run for their money.

Small theory that circulated early S1: following Bill's defeat at the end of GF, and a book referencing "one way to absolve his crime, a different form, a different time", some thought of him becoming King. The further delving in King's backstory shall come eventually... ;)

king is a titan which make him a powerfull bieng and if the axselotle revived bill i assume he would not let bill have this kind of power since the axsolotle is a good person there for he would not give bill the power of a god like he had beffore becuase it would not teach bill a leason

if the show seems extra creepy and body-horror-y, that's because the creator, dana terrace, makes a lot of horror art primarily, outside of the whole. disney cartoon thing lol

- The little demon who's into conspiracy theories is voiced by Dana Terrace (the creator of the show)
- The demon girl who wrote fan fiction is voiced by Grey DeLisle (Azula from Avatar). Grey DeLisle actually does a lot of voicework in this show.
The little demon voiced by Dana is basically her self-insert character lol

The Owl House is one of my favorite shows of my entire life!! (no exaggeration)

4:50 The issue isn't Luz's creative spirit, it's that she is endangering her classmates. She brought a bunch of live snakes to school and lost most of them. Given that she lives in Connecticut, the fireworks alone should have gotten her expelled and six months of juvie. The summer camp has got to be some sort of compromise the principal pulled strings for. Camila doesn't have a lot of options in the matter.

God, was I excited when I saw that upload pop up. PLEASE react to it in the future, the story/characters/relationships in this show are so goddamn brilliant. This is the show that got me back into animation series and I will be forever thankful for it.
Tbh, I'm not surprised you thought they were villains at first. Part of what makes them so visually interesting is that that DO look like villains at first! Their character designs are made almost entirely from triangles, which makes them look sharp, scary, and imposing. Something most of society considers unsightly, and wants to avoid. Which they show us that they do. But, as the story goes on, we get to wonder why exactly their society has branded them as undesirable, and whether or not they actually deserved to be outcasts, or if they're just a bunch of weirdos, bringing us right back to Luz's dilemma at the beginning of the episode! They may be different. They may be weird. Maybe there is no place in society for any of them. But, there's a wonderful little home on the outskirts of society, that just so happens to have room for one more.
-evil or not, Eda is definitely a criminal tho-
Alex says that Hooty was his take on Mickey Mouse & when Dana Terrace was trying to find the right voice, Alex did it as a joke, thinking it would only be a place holder but she loved it so much she chose him to be the voice of Hooty in addition to King. In this episode, he's also the voice of Gilder Snake, the creature in Luz's book report.
The show is only 3 seasons, with the third being three episodes. Dana says that while Disney liked the show, they prefer to have shows that are mostly stand alone episodes to put on after movies & specials. The further you get into The Owl House you'll see how the you have to follow the show to understand what's going on. Also, Disney underestimated the audience for the show. They didn't realize how popular it was until they had a panel for it at New York Comic Con in the fall of 2022 & showed a 6 minute preview of the first episode of the last season & they sort of regretted cancelling it.

The Gravity Falls, Owl House, and Amphibia creators were all friends and interacted together. In fact King and Hooty are voiced by the creator of Gravity Falls, who voiced Bill in his own show. I dunno if/where Amphibia's creator is in these shows, if they are. Point is they collaborated with each other constantly so there's obvious influence from each other in all three, while all three's style is also so clear in them.

Alex Hirsch has multiple roles in this episode. Three of them are King, Hooty (the owl in the Owl House’s door), and the guard that confronted Eda after Luz first entered the Boiling Isles. You can hear Bill Cypher and Grunkle Stan in King and the guard respectively.
The guy who eats his own eyes is voiced by Arin Hanson (yes, THE Grump from Game Grumps). He actually has a few more roles throughout the series, and I’ll obv be pointing them out.
Tiny Nose (the little nose creature that believes conspiracy theories) is voiced by Dana Terrace, the show’s creator. I love it when creators of shows voice character(s) in their series.
My favorite one for this episode: Warden Wrath is voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who is best known for being the current voice of Sonic the Hedgehog since Sonic Free Riders, as well as Chris Redfield in Resident Evil, and Ezio in Assassin’s Creed.

Eda’s actress also played Beatrice(Bojack’s mom) from Bojack Horseman, since you mentioned the show before.
She seems to like playing mentor or motherly figures. Though Eda definitely leans more towards Emperor’s New Groove instead of Bojack Horseman when it comes to that scale lol

The Owl House has a lot of big name VAs. The food-fan-fiction girl is voiced by Grey Griffin née DeLisle (aka Azula), so keep an ear out for familiar voices.

Oh I loved the owl house and this was similar to one of my favorite shows growing up called gravity falls. Which the creator of the owl house also worked on gravity falls so there are Easter eggs tying both series together which I love. It’s such a great show with great representation, great characters, great animation, great story, and great horror elements.

I love this show because much like Gravity Falls, season 1 feels so unassuming. It is cute and fun and you're just bebopping along and all of the sudden somewhere in season 2 it goes dark and deep and the LORE IS SO GOOD! Can't wait to keep watching!
Eda's VA is Wendy Malick, who has also voiced two of the worst mothers in recent animation - Durpleton's mom from Centaur World, and Beatrice Horseman from Bojack Horseman. She was amazing in those (especially the latter), and she's amazing in this.
The other major fandom The Owl House crosses over with is Amphibia - you'll see why.
