Really good! I added a half a red bell pepper, a small can of jalapeno tomato sauce because I was short on crushed tomatoes, and also I used lime because no lemon. I think I'm going to try balsamic next time instead of cider vinegar. I also added 2 TBSP each flax meal, and chia seeds. Served open faced on rye/spelt sourdough toast with brown mustard, fresh ground turmeric, fresh ground horseradish, and a red/dino kale shred. Carrot and celery slices, and a pickle on the side! Lots of leftovers onto the freezer. Thanks for the excellent recipe!
It looks amazing!! Thanks for a simple recipe. I get overwhelmed by complicated recipes. Thanks!!
I made this recipe for tonight’s dinner because I already had the ingredients. They tasted AMAZING, and were super easy to make!
This recipe is perfect! I have 5 lbs of bulgur wheat that I need recipes for! ❤️
Can't wait to try it!
This looks awesome. Sloppy Joes are one of the things my husband misses the most since going plant based. Can't wait to try them!
I’m ready for some stews! This looks delicious!🌻
WoW!!! Thank you for this terrific, comfort food recipe!
wow looks so yumm
Wonderful “Hide A Veggie” sauce until my taste buds change. I have 6=1/2 cup serving in the freezer plus my second serving over left over broccoli for tonight and a small 1/4 cup over steamed frozen kale for breakfast tomorrow. On to making balsamic flavored hummus dressings.
Looks yum! l suspect this would go great on pasta.
Oh what a wonderful recipe 👍🏼 I can’t wait to make this 💕
Looks so yummy!!
Definitely looks like a super YUM! Going over to your website to copy it! Thank you!
In the mood for some comfort food on this Friday evening. I had some leftover green lentils so looked up what recipes Brittany had that included lentils. Decided on the sloppy lentils. Had the sloppy lentils on whole wheat bread and a creamy hot chocolate to go along with it. I did add a can of petite diced tomatoes and a 1/2 cup of water to thin it out. Never would have thought of using lentils to make something similar to the old sloppy joe recipes or manwhich in a can. This was very tasty. 😋😋😋
Hi Brittany, this is a wonderful recipe to replace the old Manwich many of us old-timers loved. I've been using lentils too for exactly 3yrs now, when I started taking Dr Greger's advice. I do add water-sauteed onions and green bell peppers to try to imitate the sweet 'n sour profile of Manwich. It's a bit more work but oh so good. I'll be using your measurements and miso tip. Sometimes I have it over brown rice but now will try bulgar [never had that]. Thank you for all your tasty and easy to follow recipes. Love, Barb
I love, love, l💚ve lentils. So versatile. So yummy. 😋
Yummy 😋 I made this but added onions & green peppers ... 😊👍
Mich Lass I just started using the other colors because apparently the green are not ripe and often cause stomach issues. I add the green part of scallions and/or cilantro to get the green.
Super excited to make this for my family of 5. Thank you Brittany!
Morgan Inns Tip for big families and group dinners- use that freshly baked bread from the grocery store, it’s so usually so cheap, slice it in half horizontally and fill it down the line like you might make a big sub sandwich and then slice it into pieces an inch and a half or so thick and you’ve got a FAST version for a crowd. Learned to make egg salad and tuna salad and meatball sandwiches this way, AND French bread pizzas, from a friend with SEVEN kids. I have four. It worked for us! Parties were easier, group outings were easier. So fun too.
I love the simplicity of this recipe! I've got cooked lentils in the fridge so I think this will be lunch tomorrow!
I so need to make this... miss my sloppy joes! Thank you 😊
Looks delish! Can't wait to make this! I may sauté some onion + garlic and add that to the lentils for a bit more flavor. Other than that, looks awesome. Thank you for posting!
Love this recipe, thank you so much for sharing. I eat it with your fab butternut squash sheese sauce, some greens, grains and a SOS refried bean recipe from Plantiful Kiki's channel - yum, yum :-)
Thanks for the recipe! This would also be good on a baked potato with your nacho "cheese" sauce!
I love your accent! I’m from New Jersey and the way you say school reminds me of being back home many years ago. I see that you’re probably from Pennsylvania? Close to Jersey. I am enjoying your channel thank you for sharing!
So cool you picked up on that! Yes I’m from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania! 🥰🥰🥰
This would be great also in a pita pocket
I just bought lentils and was going to make sloppy Joe's, but its better now cuz i have a recipe,!!
Thank you for this. I love it. I am learning all I can. Didn't realize WFPB can have buns.
Love this format! Was fun to see you in a different setting. I like diced sautéed onions and bell peppers in my sloppy joes so I will add those. I think this would also be great on a baked potato, over mashed potatoes, or under like a Shepherd’s pie. Probably even works over rice or pasta! Thanks for yet another easy peasy recipe.
Right? So easy! Probably even over a baked sweet potato or sweet potato toast. Grateful for you!
Yes, me too ... always love some water-sauteed onions and green bell peppers, adds a bit more color and just a little looseness. I like these ingredients and the simplicity otherwise.
Looks great, can see this would be great to have sitting in the fridge for a quick dinner.
Oh my goodness yesss!!! Something I didn’t know I needed!
Where do you purchase the no added salt tomato paste & no added salt canned lentils. Thank you so much for the recipes! I am making your zucchini bread as I am watching this video ☺️.
Hi Brittany! I could see my husband liking this. Oh I definitely could see him liking this on a salad! I myself am not a fan of the lentil I don’t know why? I was going to try some of those French lentils which are a little bit different.
Captain Evie French lentils are my favs- they have a more meaty taste
I bet this sauce would be great with navy beans to make a quick recipe for baked beans. Thanks Brittany.
Sounds yummy! I have some lentils I've been meaning to cook. This looks like a great use for them.
I love it that you include a printable PDF. Could you make the link to that clickable? CZcams won't let me copy and paste it from my phone.
One day I want to try TyraAbundance's lentil bread loaves.
I think I would prefer to serve this recipe on open-faced hamburger buns. Seems it would be too sloppy otherwise. Then I think I would like sloppy joes. Maybe a cole slaw on the side. Chef AJ? posted a real interesting recipe. It has a pineapple/white balsamic dressing. IDK. I like how thick your "Joe" is. Gonna havta try it.
That’s a different take on sloppy joes. I want to try try the bulgur wheat .
definitely want to try this. would it be okay to use TJ's lentils that are already cooked?
I know this has been asked many times but do you have a cookbook that I can buy? Your recipes are so wonderful. I am new to the plant based world and your recipes make meals so easy and delicious. I am 62 and started my adventure 7 weeks ago for health reasons. To my surprise I have lost 20 lbs!
soo Yum! But I prefer to call these Snobby Joes ;) B-) :D
What about mixing and heating the sauce in the pot, then adding the lentils? It looks yummy!
Brittany, How long do you cook your lentils and do you use the instant pot?
Hi hun. Is coffee and herbal teas vegan and good for weight loss?
Would you use red lentils or they wouldn’t hold up ?
I suggest using green, brown, or black lentils. Red lentils wouldn't be my pick for this recipe.
Hi Brittany - - in the video, in between the lemon/vinegar and the white miso, you say, "In goes the ( _______ )". I can't catch the word you're saying - - and it's missing from the ingredient list. Please, what is it ???
That’s it, I just mentioned about the health benefit of using white miso. We have our recipe written out on the website if you’d like to double check www.thejaroudifamily.com
"In goes those two." I replayed that part with the same question, at first thinking Brit had added pre-combined lemon juice & vinegar.
@@shastahill Yes, I also thought the vinegar and lemon juice were combined. That was the confusion that made it seem like there was an extra, unlisted ingredient.
I am very surprise about the tomato paste. It’s not to concentrate?
That’s what I was thinking. 🤔
I like the ingredients but I think I’ll try a half and half of paste and sauce. If it’s too runny I can always try adding some ground flax meal to thicken it up.
I just add organic ketchup. Lentils in ipot for 8 mins!
looks good will be trying very soon
