  • I take both the 2024 KTM 300 XCW TBI and the 300 XC TBI out on the same day and do a comparison ride review. What KTM is better for you? What should you buy? I give my thoughts.

    XC for me as I ride more open flowing stuff. Looking to pick up a 25 here soon. I rode my buddies 24 xcw and it felt so nice though!

    Good stuff. I chose the XC-W for a few reasons and some I didnt even know that after learning im glad i chose the XC-W. I think its easier/cheaper to have the XC-W make more power with tuning and a head than to make the XC how I want/need it. Coming from 18 year old 450cc 4 strokes, I have been over the moon with this TBI 2 stroke. And for anyone wondering, even at 6k feet where im at, the XC-W is no slouch. Though admittedly ill probably add more because why not. But here in the mountains the XC-W is hard to beat.

    Note: the XCW has different cylinder porting (for the first time ever) then the XC so theres more changes to power levels

    Yup, a spot on review for sure. I have both a '19 xcw and 23 xc (300s) and have WP 6500 forks on both and the xc has the tsp head and tune for some extra spice. The xcw excels in the choppy technical, the xc in the faster terrain, though both can do both well enough. I think my next bike will be the xcw with a tsp head and tune or something similar as I like the idea of the dummy fan run by the ecu v. a the probe in the rad which I've had issues with.

    Good review - as a former 2 stroke motocross goon, yes the shorter silencer gives better top end and vice versa. The longer silencer should be more quiet as well.

    Selling my 2023 XC and getting a 2024 XC-W. I agree that the perfect bike would be the XC-W with the XC engine. I just think the PDS suspension is better for tight woods. Either way the new TBI is awesome!

    Pretty good review, I have a Husky TE 300 PRO buddy has the new XC300 his bike is way louder, builds rpm quicker at less throttle and has stiffer suspension and a very hard seat. He likes fast trail and motoX. I am more of an enduro/hard enduro guy. My bike runs real good down low.

    This is a great video, very concise. I have a question you might be able to answer in a video if you're interested - what's the best full size two stroke for a rider trying to develop technique? I'm newer to enduro with about 10 hours on the bike, which is an older 250 xcw. I like it, but it is a bit of a handful for me sometimes. It's also in pieces at the moment. So, what would be a good bike to get better on while I'm tinkering on the 250? Perhaps a 150? Interested to hear your thoughts. Cheers.

    • @TechEnduro
      @TechEnduro  Před 6 měsíci

      I’d personally stick with the 250 if I was starting out. The power on a 250 or 300 is usually more linear and has an easier delivery of it vs a 150. But weight and hight are things to consider too, if you’re quite small a 150 could work. My best advice would be to try a friends bike that has a 150 or similar even if it’s just for a short time, that can give you a good comparison starting point. If no friends have em a local riding club is a good place to meet new riders.

    Just found out KTM is owned by Baja 300 Austrian technicians laid off what the heck is going on? We are told by actual KTM technician they would not touch a KTM anymore with your 10-ft pole KTMs 300 are blowing cylinders off or 2024 Husqvarna was leaking oil so bad out of the shift seal they replaced it twice now. Is this true? Please tell what you know about this

  • @LetRRoll
    @LetRRoll Před 6 měsíci

    In your video you briefly mention a slight delay at 1/8 throttle on the xcw. Can you explain this in more detail? I have a ‘24 xcw and I notice slight delay in throttle response when compared to the xc tbi. When trail riding it’s negligible but in the technical stuff, it’s annoying. Thanks for the video!

    • @TechEnduro
      @TechEnduro  Před 6 měsíci

      I’m not sure of the exact reason for it, but I believe it has something to do with the oil injection. That’s why I mention that switching to premix on the xcw fixes this. Check out CZcamsr Tokyo Offroad, he has a good video about deleting the oil injection and mentions that this solved his slight hesitation.

    • @LetRRoll

    • @WASemiHardEnduro
      @WASemiHardEnduro Před 6 měsíci +1

      The stock XCW map is pretty rich down low. Deleting the OI is a bit of a hack to fix it, as running premix can lean out your fueling (oil displaces gas). The right way to fix it is through mapping - a TSP or TPITuning reflash will fix it.

    Port timing is the main difference for power difference’s. The xcw is much slower trail bike

      Interesting. More then a different head? I don’t know much about porting.

    • @WASemiHardEnduro
      @WASemiHardEnduro Před 6 měsíci

      Correct, the W has different (lower?) port timing which shifts the power lower in the rev range. It’s not a bad thing for 90% of riders. Most people who think they need all 57hp would probably be surprised at how rarely they actually go full-throttle! 😂

    • @WASemiHardEnduro
      @WASemiHardEnduro Před 5 měsíci

      @@user-hg9go5gx1s Not sure which comment you’re replying to, but previous versions (TPIs) all had the same engines. 2024 is the first year where the XC and XCW had pretty significantly different engines.
