The restored original LONE RANGER Republic Serial (1938) Chapter 1: Hi-Yo Silver

The 1938 LONE RANGER was the first appearance of the Ranger and Tonto in the movies and introduced the canyon-ambush and rescue by Tonto origin story as well as what became the standard costume and look of the Lone Ranger character (heavily borrowed from Buck Jones, whose horse was also named Silver). The Lone Ranger befriends other Texas Rangers in this story as well as Tonto, and which one of them he is is not revealed until the final moment of the last chapter. The The Lone Ranger's voice is done by Billy Bletcher and riding and stunts by the great stunt man Yakima Canutt. Tonto, in his first live-action incarnation here, is played by Victor Daniels aka Chief Thunder Cloud.
