Why is it always the shot of a nail gun, the mark of a pencil, the hook or but of a tape, the banging of a hammer, and the intensity of keeping your head down and staying focused that gives me a sense of calmness. No other job that I have ever worked has ever given me a sense of calm like carpentry does.
It’s an amazing craft. I admire those that are good at it. I’m not so great at it, but I know what you’re talking about, I’m learning doing my own projects. Just love it.
If they want to really impress, they should have showed how to calculate hip drop. It's pretty simple but a very important part of the process. Your H.A.P. on the hip will be different than your rafters
I have to say, 45ing that top plate for the birds mouth is a clean move. For the nailing of the rafter, it's MUCH safer to set one nail at the center rather than at the top where it can easily glance off and hit you coworker. Set the center nail and let him get out of the way before nailing the rest of it.
Ok, I'm a blue collar worker. Worked in auto shops for years, Built custom motorcycles, welder, and now work in engineering for a Hospital. But, your vids on rafters and roof lines, and using a speed square.... Well it just hurts my head. Skills man! Fun to watch and appreciate.
LVL hip rafter? Wow...when we framed years ago, the only thing we used LVLs for was a super long horizontal span and most of the time we doubled up a 2x10. Now double LVLs are being used as ridges and single LVLs are being used for rafters! A bit of overkill if you ask me and a WHOLE LOT more expensive.
It makes sense why a house is so squeaky and shit the way they shoot nails into the wood. The woods probably split and cracked barely connected on some of those connections
Holy shit that was some big brain shit, cutting the top plate for an easier birdsmouth is fucking genius! All I've done is trusses, but in school we had to bevel and chisel that out of the rafter!
Mr. Lopez you my man are a Framing Gangster. ! Wish I was there learning the method with you and your crew ! God bless and keep the videos coming and your commentary! Many blessings to you and your crew ! America 🇺🇸 !
Nice work. Remind me to tell you about the unfortunate nail into the chest incident requiring a lifeflight helicopter and arterial surgery from an assistant holding a rafter in similar fashion and a deflected nail. Saved by a carhart jacket by the way....and a good surgeon.
That all works when both pitches are the same or no one asks you to keep an equal overhang throughout the whole eave system. It is important to note this: you don't want your followers floating everything up and then realize the sub doesn't line up at all. In other words it is not certain that a hip or valley head cut bevel will be 45°.
Huh??there isn't a single framing crew that uses cordless saws.. And that is definitely not the daddy of saws....it's not even a wormdrive. You have no idea what you speak of.
Podrias explicar un poco a los que no sabemos inglés bro y seria genial ,ya que en latam se trabaja de otra manera seria bueno que enseñes como llegar a ser mas óptimo en el trabajo ,saluodos bendiciones
Squinting is the same as wearing safety glasses.
In the words of AvE, engage safety squints.
Glasses aren’t gonna save you from a nail at the speed those come out anyways…
And holding your breath is better than wearing a dust mask
@@fatal510but it wouldn’t fucking hurt !!!😂😂😂
Safety Squint
Love the classic look-away safety move. not sure if osha approved or not...lol
When you don’t have your safety squints readily available, that’s my go to also.
I thought I was the only one with that thought lol 😂
“Hey hey just shield ur face and look away ur fine my boii”
Well u don't wanna watch it fly up in your eyeball. Anywhere else would be better as you won't be blind
Looks good gj

Poetry
Agree. Why I love building my own projects
For the most part us Carpenters are hacks , masons are the true builders.
This was the hardest part of framing for me doing these and getting them on point. If they are slightly off it throws everything else off
If they want to really impress, they should have showed how to calculate hip drop. It's pretty simple but a very important part of the process. Your H.A.P. on the hip will be different than your rafters
Now that’s some quality stick framing right there. Well done young men.👍🏽💪🏽
Especially the quality of how far thoughs toe nails were toward the end.. doubt they even caught
@@CbrF4i600cc 😂😂😂 love that. So many details that go unnoticed
I don't know why you guys don't just start lining the wood grain patterns up too. Lol
😂😂
You guys are making me miss doing it.
I've never done it and never wanted to do it more than after watching it be done effortlessly
@@anthonyhernandez5855 It is fun once you get the hang of it, but it takes its toll on you physically.
Парни, у вас золотые руки. Уже посмотрел несколько роликов... В нашей стране, я не видел ни разу такого качества...
Jorge I love watching you frame brotha. So smooth it’s a gift ya have for show!!!
That’s some nice finish work on the rough framin
Finish work? What finish work?
Nice work? What nice work? The toe nails at the end that musta been 5" to catch?
Beauty... Love your work.
Thanks

You went pro on this one. 💯💪🏾👌🏾
I've never seen a speed square so clean and new...I think I'm tearing up.
Nice work,

Man you guys are good ! Nice cuts !
Cool to watch this and know everything your doing.
Been learning this the last couple months
I love watching your crew work its refreshing seeing actual professional men at work you guys do awesome work keep it up
I miss stick framing roofs I haven't done one of them in year's we all get trussed roofs in my area
This roof looks awesome but damn why so complex
Trusses are the norm around here(personally dont like them) but whenever we get to stick frame them it's so much more fun and comes out way cleaner
Carpenters are freaking rock stars 🤩
Bobbing that top plate 45 degrees is a win. I’ve cut a Lot of rafters. I always had to cut the hip seat cut bigger. Your way is better!

Architects & engineers decide those things, not the framer. He's building on Long Island also, so that's part of it - bigger houses. 👍🏻👌🏻📐🛠️🔧📏🔩🦺🚧⚠️✏️
You would think he’s in the line of fire but they have literally no room to work with.
At least he put on his palm safety glasses
.....funny how we think that closing our eyelids will seal us from injury. Lol.
It makes sense why a house is so squeaky and shit the way they shoot nails into the wood. The woods probably split and cracked barely connected on some of those connections
Make sure you strap the roof. So the insurance. On the house is not highway robbery 😊
It’s always a joy to watch craftsmen do their thing.
Love the work flow so smooth no stopping no bs just straight to it 💪💪
This crew is exceptionally talented
Very inspiring 🙌
Lvl hip Nice !!!!!
Thanks
Top shelf work, great to see so much craftsmanship and talent.
Your craftsmanship is beyond reproach.

I thought the same thing!
This is pro level
LVL’s that’s a beast there. Bet that was fun putting up there.
Construction master calculator would’ve have done that for you
Amazing work 👏
Jorge how did you become so good 👍
He needs to upgrade his Saw. The cordless circsaw s are awesome
No their not...battery everything suck except drills
@@jonnyappleseed190 you need to run a CPL before you say that.
It's easier to have one on charge and one in the saw.
Cut that cord
Wow. Love the accuracy😍 too good👍🏼
Good math skills! Better than mine!
Art work indeed
Very nice! Good to see people taking pride in their work.

Nothing like lvl hip rafters. That roof is gonna be sturdy AF.

NOW WE KNOW WHY YOU DONT FIND A SQUARE HOUSE CAUSE THE PHONE WAS NUMBER ONE AT WORK.
"You are right in front of my nail gun... Excelente !!!"
Even the way you flick the pencil just put the cherry on the cake
Good framer
You guys are getting it done be safe out there.
Thats craftsmanship. Great job
Full on trust in his coworker!
Good
Only real legends still rock a corded saw. That saw especially is the daddy of all daddy’s
Huh??there isn't a single framing crew that uses cordless saws..

WONDERFUL WORK BLESSING 🙏🛐🙏🏻💕
Rough on safety but good work keep that up one day you'll build your own house
Hi mom Where's daddy??oh he fell of a roof today...because apparently his crew never heard of scaffolding..
All that to just cut corner off damn must be a union job
Great work guys!
No malbaraten su talento, los paisas somos BUENOS y los gringos abusan de nosotros
Boohoo. Capitalism pal
Chingon el maestro 💪🏼👍🏼
BUILT DIFFERENT
Remember back in the day when every nail was hammer driven?
And remember kids always aim the nail gun at your co-workers torso
With all that engineered wood, I would think they would also use metal hangers like kant sag or similar instead of just toe nailing.
Safety squints engaged
I'm a bit lost, what exactly did he do? From Europe just curious about the technique. Thank you.
Thx for tip
Admiro a éstas personas por su habilidad en su trabajo, creo que hasta los envidio
Top notch work man. Master carpenter
Usually the hip sits between the crown rafter's, not a 45deg cut but like a point
I always felt the extra nails weakin the connection
Just like at my job, except no one is saying "guey" or "no mames"
😆😆😆
Jajaja
Is that good or bad no explanation at all but sounds kinda racist 🤔
@@espectadorsolamente542 it's extremely racist and funny as fuck... totally correct and ask any Mexican....😆😆😆😆
Very nice work fellas!
i like your word choice
Now I know why absolutely no wall is plum nor square on newer houses! Thanks guys!
My framing buddies notice how dirty their jobsite is? No cull pile. No supervision.
Chulada de trabajo!!!!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
You guys are unbelievable. Finish framing masters. What state do you frame in ?
U guys always do clean work and alit if big houses im curious what framing gun do u prefer? Back when i framed we only used hitachi
A MI ME IMPRESIONAN !!!!
Perfecto !!!!
Just like a gun, never point it at anyone unless you want to kill them.
I've learned a lot from your videos thank you for sharing.
We do centering rafters first, then hips with a double 45 edge cut
That is a bitch to do right!
Very nice. I like it.
This makes Ricky seem safe
Corded saw for rafter work. Interesting...
Big mistake doing that on video bro. Next time don't aim the nail gun at someone even if it has a 2x6 or anything specially at someone's chest.
Nice!
Thanks
That gun sounds like he's making the sounds with his mouth 😂😂
