Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Wears Supreme And Is Friends With Justin Bieber

  • Organized religion is at an all-time low worldwide. Congregations are hemorrhaging parishioners with confidence in the Church flagging in the U.S. at unprecedented rates. Yet you wouldn’t know that by looking at Hillsong U.S.A. The American outpost of an Australian Pentecostal megachurch founded by Brian and Bobbi Houston in the ’80s, Hillsong’s New York flagship is shepherded by the charismatic Carl Lentz.
    Known colloquially as Justin Bieber’s spiritual advisor, Lentz draws upwards of 8,000 New Yorkers to his Sunday night service held at Hammerstein Ballroom. Deploying an infectious format of short sermons and lots of dynamic, ear-wormy music, Lentz’s message may be the same as your regular fire-and-brimstone bible thumper but his social media clout makes his message infinitely more seductive. His relevancy amongst youth has gone as far as to grant him meetings with Oprah and the White House.

Would the light and sound equipment make of that wedding a show? Lights and sound equipment are used for diverse purposes, friend, and as they are used for shows, they are not exclusively used for that.
      I don't think it makes of a wedding or this kind of services a show at all. I've worked in the Industry of Entertainment and believe me, lights have the purpose to create a visual atmosphere and draw people's attention and focus to the front. Now, you may worship in a very different way, without lights, without too much noise, perhaps, and that's fine. There're others that preffer a visual atmosphere to do so, and that's fine too. There's no show going on at all, and there's no too much difference between Hillsong and other Christian churches when it comes to the worship session, besides the lighting and equipment. Hillsong just really likes to put excellence on the picture, something professional because as you said, it is for God and God deserves our best, doesn't He? Must evangelical churches have musical instruments and people on stage performing, and the audience look at them too, because these people on stage are leading the audience to worship Jesus. If you are a Christian and your church has a band standing and performing on a stage, the same argument you said applies too, "They are getting the attention of people instead of focusing on God" or "the band are taking the glory from people instead of letting people glorify God". If was to say that, I'd be ignoring that must likely people are actually following the worship leaders in that Church to ultimately adore, glorify and exalt God. I think a lot of people have a problem with the fact that some churches use lighting because they are used for non Christian shows too, well, guess what, they use instruments, microphones and sound system for concerts and non Christian events too as they use then in many Christian Churches, what's the problem with that? at the end of the day they are tools, aren't they?

      You can tell by the fruits they bear. Delivering power messages n speeches shouldn't be use as a yard stick to measure whether a speaker is a born again Christian who's life has been transformed by Christ bcos you can hire a very good speaker from the business world n mould him into another "powerful Christian speaker" n he will definitely deliver the results. So be careful of judging men based on outward appearance n attractions cos that is how we often fell for those scams. I know of a humble ex pastor who still go to the market with a sigh "free prayers" to pray with those in need. Its a humble sight to see him doing that which Im sure many rich pastor will not do, cos it looks "funny sitting there with a sigh" , people may laugh at you, etc. Such humble christian I respect alot. It shows his genuine love for the Lord. He dont need the big stage, bright lights, beautiful punchy music to do Gods ministry.

That is why some Christians are weak bcos they go around seeking powerful Messages, dynamic preachers, colourful characters speakers, dynamic solid musics, lights n sounds, big congregations, nice outward appearance n says that those humble small pew churches are dead n outdated! Satan always knows what tickles our ears!

When a preacher just preaches a Jesus that is only love, they’ve made an idol out Him. And yeah, I don’t care what he wears etc....but really that could be the problem too. His physical problem (the expensive clothes) could actually be his spiritual problem. Pastors like this want the world and they want Heaven. He wants all the nice things and he wants Jesus. Yeah they’re out of control and too open nowadays. I don’t think they’re Pentecostal anymore it’s like a new age church. They all start out fine but end up being controlled by the world and letting worldly people influence their decision ; rather than the people conforming to the church and the Bible, the church conforms to the people just to keep numbers high. Too many leaders and people can get away with anything in the church. It seems all lukewarm and there’s no real connection with your pastor if you’re just a number. It is sad and these churches are the ones Paul spoke about.

      mz204455 the Bible teaches us that when we die and if we ascend to Heaven then we will spend most, if not all, of our time worshipping God. Especially through song and probably dance. Church is what you make of it. There's so many to choose from. Find one that allows you to leave feeling like you got to worship God, learn about the truth of Jesus' love and sacrifices, and have more knowledge about the truth of the Bible. There's no one true way church should be. It's not going to be perfect and you'll get as much out of it as you're willing to put in to it (effort, attention, community involvement, volunteering, donating time and money and personal resources, etc.). I'll pray you can find an awesome church. 😊
      Have a good one.

      captain murph worship is not having a dance. We have forgotten the presence of God found through solemnity. Not all worship is what God wants, as is in Hebrews (can't remember where exactly) - but I believe focusing on what He brings us through His word. When does this man mention the resurrection from the dead, the death of Christ, or man's total depravity?

    Relevance means nothing, neither does “attractiveness”, neither does numbers, or audience counts, or clout, culture, or “merch”. Faithfulness to Jesus means everything.

    We, who are Christians, only need the constant remainder that Christ is our PERSONAL savior. He's personal to each living soul on this planet, if they so willingly choose to let him in their hearts. How ever and who so ever chooses to reach their destination to Christ is solely between them and our King of Kings. So, I wish them all a safe haven to the ultimate experience one reaches with the Holy Spirit within the Godhead. This medium has the potential to reach the youth who may be lost in this spiritually decaying world full of sin and hate.

    From the day I heard about him and heard what he said not condemning sin and doing shots with Beiber, the Holy Spirit put up a HUGE red flag about him. When I heard the news that he'd been fired and had MULTIPLE affairs, it didn't surprise me at all. The fruit he produced wasn't the fruit of a Christian and he's just doing what a power hungry non-Christian would do, because he's not a Christian. I pray first of all that he will become a Christian and turn his life to the Lord, repent, make things right with his wife and kids and start over.

    I don't get how this can be considered christian. I was raised catholic mind you.
    Did all these businessman pastors missed the part where Jesus kicked out the merchants from the temple ?
    I don't know of a church that didn't do wrong at one point but making a business out of religion is just despicable.

      I was also raised catholic. I am just shocked at some of these churches. Theres one of these churches in my area that actually sell t shirts and merchandise at the door.....Scary part is that people actually eat it up. I will not deny that this video definitely has a bias. However, every single time I have encountered or heard of these churches I get an instant bad vibe. I dont see church....I see greed.

    • @WesternUranus

      Of course pastors and priests have to make a living but getting rich through that is actually contradicting the message of the christ.
      They are not practicing what they preach. Christianity has values and money is not one of them. Hence why they look like hypocrites to me.
      Also I don't believe one second that all this money is used to buy new church buildings.
      Megachurches like this one are not about values, there is a twisted smell of egotrip and lust for power over people in the people leading them. I don't trust any of them.

      No nice try.... I actually wanted Sanders to win....but I can be honest and still say that Vice is obviously Anti-Trump (just like Fox was anti Clinton)....I would prefer to watch news presented without an obvious bias and just be given facts allowing me to formulate my own opinion....what's so wrong with that?

    • @linayung7701
      @linayung7701 Před 6 lety +1

      Dr. L Hayes MD i wanted Sanders too, and as a progressives like Sanders, you should have known that he IS anti Trump. Trump is currently undoing every progress that Sanders have been working on so far. Being anti Trump doesnt mean you're pro Hillary.
      And if you compare Vice to Fox news or FACTITIOUS right wing media because they hold a certain kind of "bias", you really need to get back to your degree. Fox has been numerously caught making literal fake news, fake sources and even fake people to serve their agenda, even more or so than any Clintonite MSM who

      @dr.lhayesmd1065 Před 6 lety +1

      Yes Sanders is Anti Trump, but he is a politician, and believe it or not even I am anti Trump.....I think you are missing my whole point of my comment I am talking about the media being anti Trump and others being anti liberals...I am saying in my opinion media/journalists job should be to present facts without a bias (and most new organizations are guilty of this...some more than others) and let viewers formulate their own opinions....not to try to push their own personal views (whether conservative or liberal) on viewers
