Do you know how to kill gnats in the soil or do they keep annoying you repeatedly and destroying your houseplants?
Fungus gnats or soil gnats are some of the most common and annoying indoor pests. These pests are attracted to high moisture and humidity.

This year has been a gnatmare! Just sprayed neem oil keeping my fingers crossed. My money plant also got some mildew white stuff. Let’s hope I can get rid of it. Ratio is 2 tbsp to 32 oz water, shake the bottle well . The neem oil turns thick, so microwave it then add to water, alternatively add it to warm water.

Good information, thanks. I bought a basil plant recently and suddenly started getting these pests, which were not around any of my other herb plants. It was obviously in the soil of the plant when purchased. I would not have known this if I didn't watch your informative video. I won't be purchasing from that store again. Keep up the good work, it really helps those of us who would like to learn more and broaden our knowledge base. 😊

You can use Mosquito Bits or Mosquito Dunks. They contain Bti, which will kill larvae for fungus gnats. To use it, put some bits or dunks in your watering can the day before and let the bits/dunk soak. This will fill the water with Bti. Use it once every week and your fungus gnats will be gone!

Hey. I am new to this and recently tried covering one entire plant with pest fabric. That worked so I took it off outside and let them all fly away after a shake then applied sharp sand for temps til the peroxide comes. I since learned that neem oil and another essential oil to keep the gnats away is better.
Still going to try peroxide and then replace some of the compost and just water from the base and keep the top dry. As well as prevention methods including the smells the bugs don't like etc.
      Good luck

I just wasted my time watching this drivel go on, why the long speech to say use neem oil?

I tried all the organic methods and still had fungal gnats. Last night I resorted to a Malathion drench. I read the instructions for a spray mixture, (1 1/2 teaspoon to one gallon of water). I place the plant (Queen of the Night) into a large bowl and drenched the potting soil not the leaves. It took about two quarts to drench the soil. I then raise the pot and sat it on a cup in another large bowl and let drain over night. I also had a small fan blowing on the plant to dry out the top soil. I am sure some will freak out that I used Malathion. Unless you're drinking it, snorting it, showering in it and spaying it everyday without protective gear everyday it is safe.
    I just hope it works.........
