Staff in long term care facilities do not have the incentive or time to use these things that are suggested to aid in expressions or mood issues. Sadly, they usually first reach for the medications. This was very frustrating and frightening to our family when our mother first experienced scary hallucinations with her dementia. Training for staff is so inadequate right now. Care centers are being inundated with admission requests, yet I fear they are not ready for the people they will be caring for in great numbers soon.
