This tutorial does not work for the Pixel 3a. I don't know if it used to be effective for that model... Actually, there is no way that it ever did. At the 1-minute, 30-seconds time-stamp, you're instructed to trace a backwards "L" (like _| if you connected the two characters, to make a 90° angle), and it pulls up an option to control TalkBack with voice commands. This feature is not available with the Google Pixel 3a, and it never has been - not even after you connect to WiFi and allow the system to amend it's installed "update" version.
I am going to go to look for a compatible tutorial, and I will post a link here, if I figure out how to successfully bypass the factory reset protection, in addition to not becoming too excited about the success to remember to return here ;)
